Remote, beautiful view, great host
Great place to stay, sampling the best of the remoteness of Skye. All of Skye is accessible, though last 20 mins is single track and much potholed when we visited. Willie was very helpful, showing us the ropes when we arrived and on hand if needed.
Beautiful and Special Place
We had a wonderful week staying at this beautiful.house in an amazing setting. Willie the owner was so kind and helpful we really could not have asked for a better host. The location is stunning and in the evenings we watched dolphins and Minky Whales playing in the bay in front of the house. We will be coming back very soon.
This house was instantly home
The drive out to this house is long only the first time. The rooms are spacious and all you need to feel at home are there. The view of Loch Dunvegan is breathtaking and the Croft houses behind are mysterious. The locals (sheep and deer) greet you each morning.
Our host was attentive to any questions we had of the house and area.
This house was spotless and the welcome gift was very appreciated for two travel weary ladies
Our holiday on Skye was wonderful and Deo na Mara cottage was perfect. We immediately felt at home there. Willie was so kind - we arrived a bit later than expected and were a bit worried that we had taken a wrong turn. Willie met us, accompanied us to the cottage and explained the heating etc. Everything was very easy to use. Anything you could possibly need is there to make your stay very, very comfortable. Willie had left us some milk, eggs and butter which was a much-appreciated kind gesture. Beds are really comfortable. There's even a selection of dvds for all the family - kept the little one entertained while we prepared dinner. It really is a peaceful haven - the view from the cottage is fantastic - and the only thing you'll hear is the odd sheep. The cottage is about twenty mins from Dunvegan along a road that seems scarily narrow the first time you drive it, but we got used to it. It's a great location for the Coral Beach at Claigan and Neist Point lighthouse. We travelled further afield too, easy enough to get to Uig, Portree, Waternish, Staffin, etc etc. We had no problems at the cottage but Willie was just a phone call away. He advised us on which boat trip to take (Misty Isle from Elgol to Loch Coruisk - amazing!) and was always v helpful. He is the perfect host! We had thought long and hard about where we wanted to be based on Skye and I'm sure we made the right decision. We struck lucky with Willie and Deo na Mara - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage. We hope to go back there ourselves soon.
I booked this cottage on behalf of colleagues and Willie was a fantastic host, straight forward check-in, excellent communication before and during our stay. I would 100% recommend this house - it had everything you'd need for a stay away from home, WiFi and parking were great and I would definitely book again. Thank you.
Perfect location for exploring western Skye. In peaceful, rural location
Well equipped, clean, cottage with uninterrupted loch views. Lovely rural area. Basic provisions left in the fridge by the friendly owner were very much appreciated.
