|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Sparrowhawk House is a new 1000 sq/ft custom home that is now accepting reservations. We are located on Bald Point near Panacea, Florida in a small, quiet beach neighborhood along the Forgotten Coast, surrounded by Bald Point State Park.
Bald Point is located on Alligator Point, where Ochlockonee Bay meets Apalachee Bay on the Gulf of Mexico, and is a great destination for birding and wildlife viewing. Each fall, bald eagles and other migrating raptors, along with monarch butterflies, are commonly seen heading south for the winter. History buffs will appreciate that during World War II, Bald Point was the eastern edge of Camp Gordon Johnston, where the Normandy landing rehearsals were conducted, and stargazers will like the very dark night skies.
Sparrowhawk House is constructed of local materials including river-reclaimed heartpine floors, deadhead cypress siding, and cherry counter tops and cabinetry. There are beamed, vaulted ceilings, and a large sunporch that overlooks the beach with stunning, panoramic views. The enclosed porch also features a double Murphy bed, which is perfect for those who want to wake up to the sunrise over the Gulf. Our master bedroom is nestled in a quiet corner with windows on level with twisted live oak trees. You will sleep deeply and comfortably on our queen-sized Tempurpedic mattress. The bathroom has a tile walk-in shower, and our 'wing-span-kitchen' is fully stocked for cooking up some delicious beach food. The southeast-facing deck overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, a boardwalk to the beach, and nearby native trees.
The house is 75 yards from the water. To get there just walk straight down Grouper Street, or you can use the boardwalk behind the house.
Note that Sparrowhawk House is 'self-cleaning', ie our guests clean the house themselves on departure. All supplies are provided, as is a cleaning checklist.
June 2015 Owner Notes: If you have read this far, you will know that our little beach house has just begun to house guests...and already we have learned a few things! It is very important to us that our guests have a pleasant and successful beach holiday, but it is also important to us that we (and our wonderful beach neighbors!) are happy with our guests. Therefore, please consider the following:
*While Sparrowhawk House is available for a maximum of 4 guests, it is really more comfortable for 1 or 2 persons.
*While we do allow (and LOVE!) children, our beach house is not what we consider to be child-friendly.
*Sparrowhawk House is not available for event-hosting.
*A maximum of 2 vehicles may be parked in the driveway (and none on the street or yard). Boats and campers are not allowed.

Joel & Allise,
We feel like we have just spent three days living in a work of art. The attention to detail combined with the respect for local materials and talent makes this space truly special. We spent quite a bit of time soaking in the smell of the wood, looking at the unique touches and appreciating your thoughtfulness.
Then we walked on the beach and explored Bald Point State Park - where we met a beautiful snake, an alligator, a white squirrel, and a very large lizard! When can we come back?
What an amazing experience someone who appreciates craftsmanship, architecture and a home well cared for will have. We marveled at the work working and hand crafted tables and counters. These hosts have spared no details in making a special beach retreat!
We had a relaxing vacation. Did not want to leave.
Having only a small window on our visit the 3 nights were amazing. As soon as we arrived we both were in awe with the house and location. This is a perfect setting for a true sea side vacation. We will definitely come back for a longer stay ..
I could spend forever at this house. It is amazing. I cannot say enough good things. Just got engaged and this was the perfect place to get away and bask in the joy. We will be visiting again...hopefully soon.
Sparrow Hawk at Alligator Point is a beautiful home with many thoughtful details in design and decor! I will definitely return at the first opportunity to enjoy the tranquil beach environment that surrounds this very special place. Thank you Joel!
This was our second visit to Sparrowhawk House and was just as wonderful as our first! If you love nature, wildlife, and quiet peaceful times, this is a great area to visit. If you need hustle, bustle, and commercial entertainment, it might not be the place for you. Sparrowhawk House itself is a work of art and perfectly suited to the area. We consider the house exactly the right size for a couple, and while there is a second bed (a woodworker's beauty of a Murphy bed), I would not have been comfortable taking children to Sparrowhawk. The Spotted Grouper next door (also owned by the Whitworths) would be my choice, if traveling with children.
