About Andrea Spray

Driftwood Cottage is one of the oldest houses in Rose and is a fantastic family home with lots of numerous features. It has been our family home for the past 20 years where we have brought our 3 children up. We are a local family with a sense of community lifesaving, Cornish heritage and strong connections to Australia.

Greg is creative with driftwood and different types of art & crafts that feature throughout the cottage. He has also been involved with lifeguarding in Cornwall for nearly 40 years and will be happy to help guests with local knowledge on where to find the best surf conditions, beaches and any other surfing information.

Andrea Spray purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Andrea Spray chose Perranzabuloe

Driftwood Cottage is a spiritual home and one of the oldest properties in Rose, it has a relaxing feel and ambiance with lots of driftwood features sourced from Perranporth beach and the owner is an artist with many original pieces featured throughout the home.

The layout is ideal for families with either young or older children and is also set up for more than one couple with numerous living spaces to give everyone an area to chill out, relax or soak up the sun in the south facing protected garden.

What makes this cottage unique

Driftwood Cottage is away from the maddening crowd in a peaceful hamlet location yet only 1 mile (1.5 km) to world famous Perranporth Beach and an easy stroll to the St Piran's lost church and ancient oratory ruins situated in 1000's of acres of beautiful dunes and a short walk to gain easy access to the coast path with spectacular scenic walks to Perranporth (1.5 km) or north towards Holywell Bay (3 km).

Perfectly located for the best surfing beaches in the UK such as Perranporth (1.5 km), Holywell Bay (3 km) and all the Newquay Beaches including Fistral (10 km) the home of British Surfing.

The A30 is approximately 2 km away with easy access to all the best tourist attractions in Cornwall whether north, south, east or west such as the Eden Project, St Michael's Mount near St Ives, the Minnack Theatre at Porthcurno Beach, Lands End, Bedruthan Steps (the British version of the Seven Sisters), and the Camel Trail between Padstow and Wadebridge to mention just some of them!

There are numerous historical houses and gardens throughout Cornwall such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trelissick and Trebah Gardens to name a few and also Lanhydrock a great day out for a family of all ages which also includes one of the many mountain biking trails all within easy reach of Driftwood Cottage.

If golf is your sport then just a 2 minute drive away is Perranporth Golf Course(0.5 km) recognised as one of the best links type courses in the county with spectacular views towards St Ives (discounts may be possible on request) or if you want something a little less challenging then Holywell Bay Fun Park par 3 course is only a 10 minute drive away.

This is Poldark Country with numerous Cornish tin mines also only a short drive away particularly at Wheal Coates, Chapel Porth, St Agnes (as featured in the BBC Poldark series) or the Count House at Botallack, both named as some of the most stunning scenes in the world.

A beautifully kept house and gardens. Owners accommodating, friendly, and have lots of tips

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay and would highly recommend it. We were 2 couples, a baby, a toddler and 2 dogs. The layout meant we could have a family downstairs with the dogs, and a family upstairs...... the early risers didn’t disturb the night owls and vice versa.

The garden is well enclosed and clearly well kept. As we were lucky with the weather we spent most of our time at he house in the garden with the toddler exploring and moving rocks.

The parking would fit 2 hatchbacks on it or one longer vehicle. There is a good space alongside the house in the road if you have a long vehicle also (we had a Nissan Navara ......which could get on the drive).

Thanks for a wonderful stay Andrea and Greg.

Best wishes and we look forward to coming again.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet and have Lisa and her lovely family and friends stay in our cottage. They presented as friendly, calm and peaceful, along with being very respectful of the house rules. They made a superb effort of leaving everything clean and tidy on departure, which was so appreciated. We would love you to return Lisa !
