About Jo

A Yorkshire gal and her Manchester born husband.

We are expats living in Asia, for over 10 years.

Jo is an interior designer and renovator and Jeff works in the aeronautical industry

We have a 2 year old daughter who was born in Hong Kong

Why Jo chose West Yorkshire

Kite cottage is a 'chocolate box' property and as soon as we heard the Earl of Harewood was selling his workers cottages, we knew we had to purchase one.

Owning a historic slice of Yorkshire is very special to us. We feel passionate about heritage property and having the opportunity to restore it to its former glory was a proud moment for us and our family. We want to be able to share that with visitors to the area.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Kite Cottage for a long weekend in April with our 2 grown up children. The cottage was really lovely. Tastefully decorated in muted shades, well appointed and very clean. Arrival was pre arranged and we were able to access the cottage ourselves with the use of the safe key code. Milk and bread was provided along with tea, coffee and biscuits which was very welcome. The master bedroom was very comfortable with beautiful bedding and luxurious mattress. Plenty of built in wardrobe and storage space. The smaller room was compact for 2 adults sharing. The only slight problem we had during our stay was with the overhead shower which we struggled to keep watertight with the shower curtains.

We did however have a lovely break and would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage as a great base for exploring the area. Thank you Jo for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

First class home from home - loved it all!

  • 5 of 5

All the facilities were of high quality and everything worked first time. The cottage is cosy and comfortable and is the perfect base to visit the local attractions. The area is beautiful and we went on some lovely walks. We enjoyed sitting in the back yard watching the wild kites flying and swooping above. We would highly recommend it. Denise and Malcolm

5 star cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

What a find! A superb cottage in a great location. High quality fittings, very comfortable beds, immaculately clean, warm (despite the Yorkshire rain) easy key pick up, just off the main road but VERY quiet. We were even left tea, milk, bread and biscuits We could not have asked for better. We were visiting our daughter at Leeds Uni and wanted a hotel alternative especially as we had grandparents in tow.....having stayed in Kite Cottage I will NEVER book a hotel in the area again...in fact i will endeavour to book Kite Cottage every time. There is a great cafe and a decent pub a short walk up the road, perfect for you not to need your car if heading out for food. Harewood House is literally next door with amazing walks, York 30 minute drive, Leeds 15 minutes and Harrogate 10. Without a doubt (and we have booked many places through owners direct) this is one of the best places we have stayed in. The description does not do the house justice. Great value for money. I almost don't want to shout about the cottage too much as would really like to keep it a secret to ensure availability another time!! I whole heartedly recommend Kite Cottage- a gem and a great find- thanks for renting it out!

Lovely cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Kite Cottage for a weekend with my husband and our 3-year-old son. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well situated for lots of Yorkshire's attractions. Also nice to be within walking distance of a decent pub. The Harewood Arms does good, reasonably priced food. We made the most of our National Trust membership as there are loads of places within an hour's drive.

The cottage itself was great. Beautifully decorated and sparkly clean. The double bed was so comfortable and luxurious. There was a basket of toys in the playroom which our son was delighted with! We made use of the log burner every night in the lovely cosy living room.

Goodies were left for us by Laurence; biscuits, bread and milk which was great. Security deposit was returned immediately after our stay which is always reassuring.

Overall, would highly recommend this cottage.

Delightful cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We came to Kite Cottage for a short break. It's well-named (we saw quite a few!) and well positioned for lots of nice places and we could have walked from straight out the front door had we chosen to. If we'd come in the summer we would have made more of the immediate location but it was quite wet and windy for some of our visit. The cottage itself is well appointed and beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and plenty of towels. There was a welcome pack of milk, bread and biscuits which was much appreciated. We'd certainly return and recommend to friends.
