1 bed right next to York Minster!

Bedrooms 1
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Quirky, a tucked away gem, an amazing little space. Those are just some of the words and terms we’ve used recently to try and describe Minster Loft, but really it’s far better to come and see it for yourself to truly appreciate this one bedroom loft apartment.

Located at the top of a historical listed building, the apartment is also right next door to the birthplace of the infamous Guy Fawkes. So you are immediately immersed in the history of the city. It’s also incredibly well positioned too. Just stepping out of the door puts you within a two minute walk of all the attractions in the city and also the renowned shopping streets of Stonegate and Low Petergate are literally on the doorstep.

There are many period features on show within the apartment that are apparent as soon as you open the door. They are also very nicely complimented by the choice of furnishings throughout. There is a stylish galley kitchen complete with electric oven and hob and also a dining table to seat up to 4 for dinner. The lounge area also has a wall mounted LCD TV where you can relax with a luxury coffee from the coffee machine provided.

The bedroom has a stunning view of York Minster, you feel like you can reach out and touch it. The bed can also be made up as a double or a twin. There is also a very modern looking shower room located opposite the bedroom.

Minster Loft at a glance:

- Tasteful presentation and period features throughout

- Fantastic York Minster views from the bedroom window

- City centre location with all that York has to offer right on the doorstep

- Stylish shower room

- One flexible bedroom. This can be set up either as one double bed or twin beds.

Please be aware that this is a third floor apartment with no lift access. The apartment also has a restricted head height in places due to the angle of the roof so not recommended for people over 5'11. Paid for parking is available close by - please enquire for details.

Clean, well located, noisy and very low ceilings

  • 2 of 5

The apartment is well sited in the middle of York with the York Minister outside the bedroom window. You are a block from the one of the entrances to the City Wall. Good restaurants and Pubs are within a block or less. It is clean, well taken care of.

The response from the owner and management team to a request help when the power went out on the kitchen side of the apartment and over the front door went unanswered and still have not been answered. THe lights are crucial over the front door as you walk up three winding flights of stairs into a very narrow low ceilinged entrance way. On Thursday and Friday night, I had to be very carefully climbing the steps as I could not see well. I was unable to use the kitchen on Thursday, Friday and early Saturday morning - no lights in the living room and kitchen area.

The ceilings are quite low. I am six feet tall and rapped my head a couple of times. I needed to be more present in the moment I guess.

The noise level increased from Sunday to Friday night. The pubs are close and great fun, but the drunks are loud at 2:00 am. The echoes bounce off the Minster.

That said, except for the lack of response to the power problem, I found the apt reasonable, useful, and comfortable.

Amazing location in York

  • 4 of 5

Right in the center of things, this quirky unit was just perfect for sight-seeing, pub crawling and traveling the cobblestone streets of York. The only drawback was the intermittent internet.

Fantastic in every way

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful little apartment, full of character and perfect for a couple. We stayed for over a week and it was a very comfortable and ideally placed home from home. Everything is right at your doorstep, even the Minster bells were lovely to hear (loud, but lovely!).

If stairs are not your thing, this won't suit you, as there are lots of them. But the effort is worth it! Views are lovely and the apartment has everything we need. Chris and Anne were fantastic to deal with and gave us a very warm welcome. York is a beautiful place and this apartment was faultless. We loved it!
