A spot of green on Symi. View without climbing. Air, volume and calm.
- English, French, German, Greek
We lived in Symi, where our children went to school for many years. I am a skipper on sailing-boats. Now I sail much less as I live on an olive grove on Lesvos, where I make olive oil.
Why Owner chose Ano Symi
We remaid this typical Symi house, and lived in it for many years, our children going to the local school. We love to come back in our lovely house and to see our friends. It is a green spot (a luxury in dried Symi), very airy, and conveniently situated, out of the crowd, but very close to the harbour. One appreciate the view, but with just a few steps.
What makes this House unique
- View without climbing. - Very close to the harbour and facilities while being out of the crowd. - Volume and air. - 2 large terraces. - Green garden. - House cleaning done twice a week.

Lovely relaxing home
We had a fantastic time on Symi. Staying at this house provided a cool comfortable respite for me and my family from the hot August afternoons. The house is basic but fulfilled all our needs. The books and games were helpful for our three young boys. Only a 3 minute walk from the harbour and shops.
We were helpfully picked up and dropped off for the ferry by the lovely Christine.
A great stay - many thanks.
Great place to stay to enjoy Symi- sleeps 6
We loved our stay on Symi-- a bit off-season so it was very peaceful and not crowded (end of April). Some evenings were cool and some were perfect, but all the days were great. This house is in a great location-- good view, but not too far (especially uphill) from restaurants groceries, etc. Very nice place, plenty of room, very homey and cozy. We were picked up at the ferry from Rhodes and taken back there when we left, even though it was really an easy walk. Only negative was that the chairs are not really comfortable, so we took backgammon and books to the nearby restaurant and sat there for long stretches.
Spacious and comfortable accommodation in a convenient location for the harbour
Easy access to the shops restaurants and bars
Symi, Symi, Symi!!!
The property is ideally situated close to all amenities, shops, tavernas, & the water taxis/boat trips. Symi is a beautiful, quiet Greek island, friendly locals, & wonderful food!! The patio and BBQ area were most welcome in the heat of the day, as it had typical Greek greenery growing, providing some relief from the sun!! Be aware, access to upper areas is via a small, spiral staircase, quite narrow, and some may find it difficult, ( but the youngest in our party of four was 61, & we all managed fine!!) Well pleased we found this property. The owner, and Christina who is nearby to assist, where most helpful, & it is the first property we will try to book, when we return to Symi, next year!!
Thank you so much h, Vincent, Yassas!!
Thank you very much for your kind comments, and happy that you enjoyed your vacation in our home.
Symi is the jewel of the Dodecanese islands, just a few miles off the Turkish coast, which you see from our terrace.
It was the center of sponge fishing in the 19th and early 20th century, and traces of its affluent past are visible today in its beautiful houses built in neo-classical style which surround the harbour. Thanks to the "archeology", the site has been well protected.
The harbour is always busy with yachts of all sizes, fishing boats and ferries.
One can rent a small boat or use the water-taxis which will bring you to the numerous secluded beaches around the island.
A very nice walk up the "kali strata" will bring you to the Chorio, the upper village. Then you can walk on to "Pedi", the next bay. Alternatively , you can take the town bus.
Many cafés and tavernas, each with their own style, are around the harbour, as well as in "Chorio" and in "Pedi".
There are lots of very nice walks on the island, and many small monasteries to visit. The most famous, "Panormitis", is at the other end of the island; you can get there by boat or bus.
From Symi, you can also go on a day trip to the nearby islands of Tilos, Nisyros or Halki. What about going for the day to Asia? The market village of Datça, in Turkey is just across the gulf.
According to your preferences, we can advise you on things to do on Symi, but you will probably spent some leisurly time on the terraces as well.
