Comfortable cottage in good location. 3 adults and 3 children for short break.

  • 4 of 5

Mostly well equipped and comfortable cottage in a good location. Kitchen well equipped. Plenty of comfortable seating. Good showers and comfortable beds. Good amount of space and three bathrooms a definite bonus.

A few points to note. The attic bedroom has only one small velux window so is dark and hot. A second key would have been useful as we had to make sure we all came and went at the same time. Also information about bin collection as the rubbish bin was too full from the previous guests to get our rubbish in when we left. There are stair gates which are a slight hazard. The church clock chimes through the night which could disturb a light sleeper. If you have babies or toddlers sleeping in the first floor bedrooms who need a dark room, take a temporary blackout blind as the curtains let a lot of light through.

A few additional items would improve the comfort- mirrors and bins in the bedrooms and a cafeteria. Also perhaps a few books, games and more DVDs.

Unfortunately the WiFi router was not working and the alternative mobile network free data allowance was inadequate for the mobile devices we had.

The kettle stopped working but it was replaced within a few hours of us reporting it.

Overall the cottage met our needs and we enjoyed our stay in a lovely location for getting out and about.

Great cottage in lovely village with shops and pubs

  • 5 of 5

Great location for walking. Fantastic village which is good for kids because of the park across the road. Lovely cottage on three floors, very clean and with a good garden for barbecues and sitting out. TV and DVD player in case it rains!

Great area to stay

  • 4 of 5

What a great village in which to stay. Just happened to coincide with their food and craft festival which gave us a fabulous day. The house is of a fairly basic level with a rear garden that is perfect for a small dog. WiFi issues meant I had to use my personal hotspot which was very expensive to run 2 other tablets. Ellen and Robert were very responsive to any queries we had.

Location

Car: recommended

Tideswell is a thriving village, famed for its Parish Church, named 'The Cathedral of the Peak'. Centrally located for exploring the beautiful Peak District, the village offers lots of amenities including a co-op, greengrocers, pharmacy and a post office as well as a wide range of cafés, pubs and restaurants. Tideswell is set in beautiful countryside with walks a plenty, close to the Monsal Trail, popular with cyclists and a short drive away from the market towns of Bakewell and Buxton (approxinately 10 minutes away).

The Peak District is a fabulous destination for all ages, especially for those wishing to get away from the hustle bustle of the town and soak up the fresh country air. Open countryside surrounds you as you explore the many walks, cycle trails and attractions of the area. Popular nearby visitor attractions include Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Castleton Caverns, the nearby spa and market town of Buxton and also Bakewell, another market town famous for its delicious Bakewell Pudding.
