Villa Selene is well situated at the edge of Almirida village, a quiet location with panoramic views to the olive groves and white mountains (Lefka Ori). The villa has 2 large terraces which provide excellent space to relax, dine and sunbathe. A double bedroom is located on the 1st floor which leads to a large terrace; there is also a shower wet room with toilet and basin. The twin bedroom is located on the ground floor, where there is also a shower room with toilet, basin and washing machine, and there is a large open plan lounge, dining area and well equipped kitchen. The villa is 'home from home' and is very attractive and comfortable with a TV for playing DVD's including a large selection for you to view, a CD player and ipod dock and hair dryer. Although there is no wifi in the property, you will find free wifi in all cafe bars and tavernas - you just have to ask for the wifi code. There are electric fans in both bedrooms for those warmer nights. This is a lovely rental property surrounded by a small garden with pretty bougainvillea.
Almirida itself is a pretty beach side village with sandy bays for swimming and sunbathing. It is perfect for couples and families, and each bay has shallow water for several meters, making it ideal for children. The sea is most often calm so great for swimming in the crystal clear waters. There are several good tavernas and cafe bars to be found at the beach side and recommendations are provided in the guide to Almirida and the local area on booking. Shop at the local grocery store and delicatessen which is always stocked with beautiful, fresh, local produce. There are 2 bakeries for your fresh bread, cakes and pastries, 2 mini markets, a butcher, a pharmacy, wine and gift shops and at least 3 cash machines (the nearest bank is in the next village, Kalyves). There is a sailing school where you can hire kyacks, wind surfers and catamarans and excursions by coach available. There is a bus service to Chania (passing through Kalyves) which has a beautiful venetian harbour; a visit to Chania is a must for the history, shopping and food. In fact, Crete is steeped in history and natural beauty and has many sites worth visiting. Although you need not leave Almirida itself, visiting other areas by bus or by hire car will make your holiday unforgettable.
