A small stream flows beside the houses providing a soothing sound of buzzing water. Here you can see a video of the beautiful surroundings

The place has two buildings.
The main one is 130 sqm with 4 bedrooms.
Two of the bedrooms have private bathrooms and the other two share on bathroom.
The house is heated with natural geothermal water making the natural stone floors comfortably warm.
The spacious living room has dining space for 12-16 people around the dining table.
There is a fireplace and a big television screen in the living room.
The smaller house is 30 sqm. with entrance, a comfortable bedroom and a bathroom.
The two buildings are connected with a 100 sqm courtyard, a very nice space for games. (a basketball basket is there)
Around the main building is a hardwood porch on the south and west side of the main house.
There is a hot tub for 7-8 people overlooking the lake. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the sunset or the northern lights after an adventures day.
The property is easily found and accessible from the main road between Selfoss and Thingvellir national park and it is actually in a walking distance from Thingvallavatn. ( see the map )
The listing is brand new listing on Homeaway. 22 March and will be updated with better photos in next few days.

My name is Thor Barddal and I built this house a few years ago as a retreat for enjoying silence and nature. I have been a sculptor for more than 30 years and you will find some of my work on and around the property if you decide to be our guest.
I live with my wife who is also an artist in the capital region, so if there any issues I am always available and happy to assist
Thor Barddal purchased this cottage in 2010
The location is perfect and the view is even better its not far away from Reykjavík (45 min away). Really close to all the major attractions south Iceland has to offer with lots of things to see and do. Then the town Selfoss is only within 20 minutes away where you can find every kind of service needed. So while your enjoying the nature at its best you can easily get every service needed from short distance.
7 ladies on a girl's trip to Iceland. This property was perfect! Comfortable and clean. Great amount of space for us all. Wonderful to have multiple bathrooms. We had a small issue with the outer gate and Thor had it fixed for us the next morning. We will definitely stay here again if we come to Iceland again!
Really good price for a property in a great location for seeing the sights, the view from the house itself is worth a trip. I ran a trip of 13 people here to see the aurora and we were really impressed by the facilities. Seeing the Northern Lights from the hot tub is an experience none of us will forget.
We enjoyed our stay. The host Thor is very helpful. The house is very comfortable and spacious... if we come to Iceland again, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks Thor for your warm hospitality.
We absolutely enjoyed the property during our stay in Iceland. The house was clean and well equiped. The Northern Lights put on a spectacular show while we spent our evening in the Hot Tub watching the night sky. Groceries are nearby and access is simple. Thank you Thor!
This house has a great view and very quiet,We had three couples and it was more than enough room ,we loved our stay here
This home is in the perfect place to use as the base for touring around the southwestern area of Iceland. It is about 1 1/2 drive from the airport, 1 hour from Reykjavik and near the town of Selfoss. Selfoss if a nice size town that has a couple of grocery stores and bakery. Waterfalls and glaciers are also about 1 hour east and north. Iceland is at a perfect time for visitors, not too commercialized yet!
Thor, the owner, was easy to work with and answered questions promptly. Beautiful home for our 7 travelers. Everyone had their own space, yet a large living/dining area.
