Dating from the late 1700s, Les Grands Coudrais was once a working farm. Each restored cottage has been fully furnished and equipped to a high standard with everything you need to enjoy a holiday which offers something for everyone.
La Bergerie is our 2 bedroom cottage and used to be the sheepfold. Bright and cheerful, it has a comfortable open-plan living and kitchen area with sofa, armchairs and a wood burning stove as well as a flat screen French TV and DVD player and a cosy dining corner. You'll also find a huge selection of DVDs, books and games for all the family. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave oven, washing machine and high quality crockery, cutlery, glassware and kitchenware. The large ground floor shower room has a walk-in shower, WC and washbasin. Upstairs, the two large bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) are accessed by independent stairways, but they have a communicating door to give extra peace of mind to parents with little ones. The bedrooms can both accommodate an extra bed or cot. La Bergerie has a secluded private garden with gravel terrace, teak garden furniture and a stone barbecue.
For families with babies and toddlers a wide range of equipment can be provided free of charge including a travel cot with hypo-allergenic mattress and bedding, highchair, pushchair, baby and toddler crockery and cutlery, baby towels and toiletries and stair gates. Please contact us directly to confirm what you need.
Outdoor activities such as horse riding, canoeing and fishing are all nearby and we have bicycles and golf clubs available as well as table tennis, badminton, boules and a children's play area within the grounds. For history lovers, the area is full of fascinating sights from superb Romanesque churches to the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostela which passes close by. Families will adore the Valley of the Monkeys, Futuroscope and the Castle of the Eagles. Or you may just prefer to relax by our large swimming pool and enjoy the 3 acres of gardens surrounded only by the sounds of the countryside and views of corn, wheat and sunflower fields.
We live on the property in the main farmhouse with our 14 year old daughter Amélie. We're always available if you need help with anything, but also discreetly in the background if you don't! We're very proud that many of our guests return year after year and we look forward to welcoming you at Les Grands Coudrais for a very special holiday.
