A beautiful modern, 4 bedroom chalet with fabulous mountain views

Located in the heart of The Dolomites Mountain UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Dolomites are regarded as being among the most attractive mountain landscapes in the world. The distinctive scenery has become the archetypal winter wonderland when it snows and a nature lovers paradise in summer. Casa Zilli is located in the beautiful sunny village of La Villa, in the region of Alta Badia, South Tyrol, just 24kms from Brunico and less than 100kms from Bolzano.

The property has 4 bedrooms and a recreational room, sleeps 8 + 2 comfortably. Modern sofa beds are available for any over-spill when necessary

The living space is a large open plan area with mountain views to all sides. It has a fantastic, modern log burning stove creating a focus to the space even in summer and an adjoining open plan kitchen and dining area. The open plan design enables everyone taking part in your holiday to be together, even when dinner is being prepared and served

Comfortable leather furniture, massive bean bags and tartan chairs are supplied to relax around the main coffee table

The main dining area features an antiquated wooden surround and hidden lighting. Matching leather dining chairs are also supplied. It's a really special place to drink, eat and just be with friends and family

Kitchen: extremely well equipped, a delight to cook in and has everything you require to prepare a fantastic meal.

In the living area we have provided Wi-Fi, a TV and DVD player, and additional IPod speakers should you run out of things to talk about.

Both area's have beautiful hardwood flooring throughout.

The garden is split into two areas:

The main area of the garden consists of tree trunk steps leading up to the main door of the property with wooden porch. Adjacent is a large paved patio which is a real sun trap in summer. A second set of log steps lead to the grassed area and a smaller patio designed to wine and dine al fresco. This patio is perfect to take in the views of the Grand Risa ski piste and the massive rock formation of Santa Croce. In the early evening the rocks are a spectacular colour

The area as you arrive by car has been recently mono blocked to create ample parking for all the comings and goings of the guests.

About J.A. Ker Russell

We are The Russell family. My name is Ker D.O.B 12/10/64, married to Lizzie for what seems like an eternity, but still unbelievably happy (most of the time!). We have 3 kids, Leia, Lily and Louis. All the children have been educated in Italy and are bilingual as is my wife. I speak Italian but not like them, unfortunately, being that I spend long periods of time working in Scotland, which is where we all originate from

We all ski, walk, ride bikes and generally enjoy the outdoors (even with the event of Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsAp and all the other social media that has been invented to ruin my family's time together...however, lets not complain) We are delighted to have had the opportunity to buy and rebuild Casa Zilli. It has changed our lives. We absolutely love it, my family are always at their happiest when we are together as a unit and staying there.

Why J.A. Ker Russell chose La Villa

Casa Zilli came on the market in 2006, ruined from the outside and completely neglected on the interior. The price was not, however reflected! We took the plunge and decided to invest in what turns out to be a life changing decision. Having spent 5yrs off and on building a large extension and completely gutting the interior and starting again, we now have what can only be described as a wonderful mountain retreat in the summer and a fabulous base for a winter chalet . The surrounding area is really quite breathtaking in all weather. The changes through the seasons are quite incredible. From warm, balmy days in summer, ideal for walking, cycling and hiking, to freezing, clear blue-sky days with fresh white virgin snow in winter, a skiers paradise. That's why we bought this property and it hasn't disappointed yet!

What makes this chalet unique

This property is one of only a handful of chalets in The Dolomites area that can offer sleeping accommodation for up to 10 people, comfortably! It offers communal living space situated around an open plan kitchen, living room and dining area, finished to a very high standard. The house is right next to the ski pistes in winter and during the summer months accesses all the major walks and hikes in the surrounding area either from the door or with a short drive away.

It offers mountain views from all windows in the living space to underfloor heated bathrooms

The area around the house is probably one of the most special you could expect from a World Heritage Site. Whether you choose to walk, hike, climb, Via Ferratta on the fixed cables, cycle on or off road, ski on or off piste, snow board or simply relax, we promise you won't be disappointed.

Everyone we've ever spoken to, once they've discovered La Villa in The Dolomites, just keep coming back!

Fabulous week in Casa Zilli

This is a fantastic place - the chalet is beautiful, well equipped and very clean and homely. Also well positioned, so long as you don't mind the steep climb up out of town, as might be expected in the area. Being just above the town certainly adds to the views. The region is great, lots of opportunities for climbing, cycling, walking etc... The town has everything you might need. We stayed in the second week of September and had every type of weather so would definitely recommend taking warm clothing; we found it much cooler than we had anticipated. That said, the snow definitely added to the photos!

Communication with the owners was great - friendly and efficient.

Perfect house for a week of cycling..

This was just the perfect chalet for our group on a cycling holiday. Perfectly located as starting point for our cycling trips across the Dolomites..Although the Mur dl Giat at the end of each day was challenging.

More than enough space for our group of 8. Very comfortable. Luxurious bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. Large garage to store our bikes etc.

Communication with the owners was great as well. Would certainly recommend to friends.

We were there end of aug., but can imagine it must be a great location for skiing holidays as well.

Excellent accommodation set in stunning location

The Dolomites is a simply stunning area! Our family of 6 enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this cosy, homely and well appointed chalet during our recent summer holiday in Italy. The listing was accurate and property spotless. We were impressed by the excellent customer service offered by the owner, who assisted with our planning of the trip (via ferrata well recommended), and was responsive to our queries during our stay. The chalet is located at the top of a fairly steep hill on the edge of the village, but is within close walking distance to all amenities. We would certainly recommend Casa Zilli to friends and relatives. Thank you Ker and Lizzie!

Ideal, comfortable location to explore the region

We stayed as a group of eight for two weeks. The booking was simple and efficient and all needs catered for with zero fuss. The village / town of La Villa is dead centre of the Alta Badia valley and is perfect for exploring the area. There is lots to do round here in the summer and we needed a rest when we got home! The accommodation was large enough to give us all some space and the welcome pack was very nice. Would definitely rent out again if staying in this location.

Great Location and Facilities

Had a week with 4 companions treking in this area. Chalet is ideally located to axcess the local walks and an easy walk to the shops and bus stop to get to supplies and travel further afield.

The advantage in getting a lift and bus pass as a combined ticket was fantastic but be aware that all the lifts generally stop for the summer on the last Sunday in September.

Well recommended and would stay again if doing the same trip.
