Convenient to the train station

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay, but I cannot say I loved it. What I liked was convenience to the train station as we came and went by train. By European standards, it was roomy and adequate for 3 travelers. Having 2 full bathrooms was great. My wife and I stayed in the bedroom with it own bath. Our adult grandson slept on a pull out in the front room, but he could close the door for privacy. there were 2 air conditioners, one in each sleeping area which was a real plus.

On the down side, it was a busy, noisy dirty part of town. The apartment did not have the personal owners touch we are used to with Home Away. It was not as well equipped or supplied as other apartments we have stayed in, and it could use a little sprucing up and painting.

Overall, I think it was a good value and I give it 3 stars. If I were coming to Florence again, I would shop around a little more.

Owner's Response: Dear Lawrence, thank you for your feedback, it is very important for us to know your opinion. The apartment is located just 5 minutes to the station, and it is a good solution to travel by train and the meantime to stay close to the center. The apartment has been partially renovated, so it wuold be more pleasant. Thank you again for your feedback, Best regards Claudia & Luca

A wonderful apartment

  • 5 of 5

We spent 2 weeks in this apartment in May. It was centrally located near the train station, which made our daily sightseeing adventures so easy. Bernardo, Luca, and Laura were delightful to work with. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we'd need for our stay, and very comfortable, and I'd urge others to consider staying here. I'd also want to share a great restaurant - Buca Lapi. An exquisite meal with great ambiance and service.

Terrific location

  • 4 of 5

I purposely choose this apartment due to it proximity to the train station as I was attending a conference in Bologna and needed to be on the train early. Beyond that, the apartment was very clean and had most of the items I needed to prepare meals.

The front bedroom is right on a busy street so that was somewhat annoying for my daughter who slept there. The back bedroom is on a private courtyard and very quiet.

Both showers were backed up and needed to be roto-rooted in a big way. Someone came to fix them both, but the hallway bathroom needed a plumber. The master bathroom shower was ok, but forced us to use that one solely. Please check the hall bathroom when you there to make sure it's been taken care of.

Overall, the apartment was ok except the shower. I would probably stay there again if I need to be close to the train station.

Horrible check-in process, waited hours. Uncomfortable beds and very squeaky

  • 1 of 5

The customer service or lack there of that we received at check-in was unbelievable. Prior to our visit, it was communicated to the company that our flight arrived at 9:00am. We were told that standard check-in is 3:00pm but they were willing to do an early check-in at 12:30pm. On the day of our arrival, I contacted the company around 10:00am to notify them we were there and waiting in a café on the corner until 12:30pm our agreed upon check-in time. The guy I spoke with stated he would try and have someone let us in at 12:00pm but that would be the earliest. I provided him with my cell phone number to contact me if anything should change. 12:30 came and I walked down to the apartment and waited for someone to meet us there and let us in. No one showed. I called several times and no one answered the phone. HOURS and HOURS later we were still waiting in the café with all of our luggage in a corner and still no communication from anyone in the company. Our calls were not being answered and they never called us to say they were running late. After sitting in the café for FOUR HOURS with our luggage (unable to walk the city to waste time because we had all of our bags) we decided to just check-in to the hotel next door at 2:00pm. During check-in we explained to the hotel employee our situation he stated he knew some of the owners of the apartment next door. He also attempted to call the company for us from the hotel phone but still no answer. We went ahead and checked in the hotel. After traveling from the United States the previous day and waiting in the café with our luggage for FOUR HOURS we were beyond exhausted. Once checked into the room we got a call from the front desk that someone was there for us. We went down stairs and learned that the hotel employee called an emergency line for us, and someone from the company came to let us in the apartment. Please keep in mind that if we had not checked into the hotel we would have still be waiting in the café, because the only reason this guy showed up to let us in is because the hotel employee called and emergency line that I was not aware of. We were finally let into the apartment however; we still had the one night stay at the hotel room we had to pay for in addition to the nights already paid for the apartment. We were not compensated for this mix up. Yet we were told that technically we were still in the apartment before the standard time of 3:00. And that was the end of communication.
