You cannot ask for a more amazing view in Florence, overlooking the Arno, the Ponte Vecchio, with the Duomo in the background. The balcony is a glorious place to watch sunrise or sunset or just soak in Florence. It's minutes away from the Uffizi, too. The apartment gets 5 stars because it is really just like the photos, with some nice antiques, a gracious, modestly sized living room, small kitchen, then one nice sized bedroom with a queen sized bed, another with a twin bedroom, and 2 narrow bathrooms. There's a small lift, too, so you don't have to climb 5 flights of stairs. There's a grocery store, gelateria, and multiple restaurants on the street itself. Only concerns: the balcony rail seems low (by U.S. standards), and I'd be worried about staying here with a small child. It was also difficult to call a taxi when we needed one. (Unlike at a hotel, where they will arrange one for you.) The view and the living room are the real stars of the apartment. For 2 adults traveling with a teenager, the space and location were terrific. Comfortable, not uber-luxurious but attractive with seemingly everything one needs. I suggest walking away from Ponte Vecchio and the Pitti Palace, down the Arno, on the Oltarno side, to get a sense of what Florence feels like when it's not overwhelmed by tourists (at least in July)! It would be lovely if the owners included a booklet with restaurants suggestions, too. ;-) Recommended.
My family and I enjoyed the location of the apartment. Walking distance to all historical district main attractions, a supermarket across the street, restaurants and bars as closed as getting to the ground floor from the 5th floor. The views were great. The mini split units in the living and master bedroom heated the apartment at night nicely.
I think the apartment motive was very “Firenze” with antique furnishing, lamps, and Murano’ s glass chandeliers. However, the kitchen lacked glasses, plates, silverware/plastic ware. The living & dinning room furnishing was very uncomfortable even to seat and relax to enjoy the view. The hot water was short lasting for taking showers. The beds were comfortable but you need to use eye-covers because the windows coverings do not cover any lights from the outside and your earplugs if you need a quite/silence night.
We stayed 4 nights and 5 days that if not for the great location, we would had moved.
Would we stay here again? Maybe...
This apartment is exactly as advertised. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the many reasons described in other recent 5 star reviews, so I won't take the time here to reiterate. With respect to negative comments about a lack of paper towels, etc. we found throughout our recent visit to Italy at 3 other VRBO locations this is the norm, so be prepared to bring your own toiletries, etc. The local markets will have everything you need!
You cannot ask for a better place to stay in Florence. we spent five nights here and had a spectacular time each evening on the patio overlooking the Ponte Vecchio bridge. The apartment was very nicely appointed and very comfortable. The kitchen, while a bit small, worked very nicely for us. It is located within easy walking distance of everything in Florence.
Almost directly across the Arno from the Uffici, near the Oltarno end of the Ponte Vecchio, this apartment is ideally located for seeing everything in Firenze. Well appointed, relatively spacious, highly comfortable - it even has a balcony with the view shown in the photos. We'll look forward to returning.
The location and balcony is the best part of this rental. Otherwise, it has much to improve on. We have rented many apts throughout Europe, so I can compare.
The good: Location, elevator, Ponte Vecchio views, nice terrace directly on the river.
Not so much:
Bare bones- only toilet paper, liquid soap and dishwashing soap provided. The coffee maker is old and needs to be replaced. We ended up boiling water for coffee. No paper towels, bar soap for shower, no soap for washing machine. These few items should be supplied. Only one set of keys- we had to plan to be back at the same time. The pillows are flat and the bed is very hard. Some spare pillows should be provided as well as maybe a foam pad on the bed. There is a second bathroom, but note the shower IS the bath so everything gets wet. No hot water in the morning. We had cool showers the first two mornings (even as early as 7:30am) so you need plan to shower later in the day. This is also a sanitary issue if you need to wash dishes without hot water. My suggestion is to wash your own dishes when you first arrive so you know they are clean.
Rental agency does not communicate. We emailed twice regarding a lack of coffee cups, inoperable coffee maker and the pillows. We never got a response, but coffee cups did appear the following day. No response on the other issues, nothing. Check-in did not go smoothly, as we were taken to the wrong apartment.
