About owner/property manager

Hello, My name is Sica and I am just thrilled to be your hostess! For most of my life I have been in either restaurant business (started and owned one next door for 12 years), hospitality management (Hilton - GM - Adelaide, Australia) or real estate (Commercial Seniour Executive and Luxury for Investment Specialist), which is what I am doing currently. I love what I do and in general, I love people and creating or selling places where one can find comfort, peace and tranquility. Cooking and Entrainment comes almost too easy for me, some people say, I am just a natural at it! I am absolutely a nomad at heart, love to travel and discover new places, talk to new people, get to know about their culture and cuisine. I am very found of hosting, I enjoy being a hostess just as much as being a guest. I travel at least 4 months out of the year, mostly Europe and Middle East, and each time I stay in VRBO places. I think is just so much more personal and I can easily identify with others and sharing good conversations and our experience.

I was born in Romania, grew up by the Black Sea, and emigrated to the US in 1985 and lived in Manhattan for a while at first. In 1990 I moved to Florida and discovered Sanford, "the city substantial" as is called and fell in love with its quaintness, authenticity and live oak trees. Immediately I bought several historic homes in Sanford and since then I have been restoring and remodeling 9 of them, built my own restaurant, Bed&Breakfast, and restaurant. In 2003 while I was operating my restaurant In Sanford I received an offer from University of South Australia, and selected for a 2 year Executive MBA program the university was doing jointly with Le Cordon Bleu, France ! Of course I packed my bags as soon as I could find a buyer for my restaurant and went to Adelaide, South Australia to go back to school. And what an experience that was! I graduated UniSA with Honors and received my MBA in Hotel and Resort Management

Why owner/property manager chose Central Florida

Driving Park Avenue , I fell in love with the street, the live oak trees and this authentic old America town. This was the first property in Sanford back in 1990. It was a fixer upper, and at the time I was so young and didn't know very much about wood frame construction and termites. And oh boy oh boy a fixer upper indeed it was! I sure got myself more than I could bite! What a mess! I remember crying about it on the phone to dad in Romania. Dad was a builder and he got the hint. Next thing he asked me if I could send him papers he will come to help me get it repaired. I was so happy dad was coming, I knew I was saved!. A I bought this whole corner, dad came and we fixed it together. Over the years I started many businesses here, dad built me my restaurant, mom helped me decorated and start a B&B, we had so much fun. Since then dad passed away, but I decided I will keep this place for as long as I will be able to for here are so many of my most dear memories.

What makes this cottage unique

I fell in love with the huge Live Oak Tree, and the Three Cottages nestled together in a little corner piatza of its own. Over the years mom and I planted Wisteria, dad built us arbors for it, we started the Ivy, and put in the brick ways. Love the proximity to downtown, the lake and the feel of a gone by era.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sica, waited in person for our late arrival. We stayed in the main 3 bedroom house the first night and in the grade level studio the following 2 nights. Took advantage of the covered front porch for a breakfast and afternoon snack.

Sica was available via phone or text to answer any questions and make our stay comfortable.

The location is only a few block walk (or drive) down either Park Avenue or Magnolia Street, both of which are lined with majestic trees and many historic homes and churches, to Sanford's downtown and waterfront.

Downtown Sanford has several locally owned quality eateries and also has two performance venues - one of which had an independent film festival one of the nights during our stay.

Location is but 7 minute drive from SFB airport and not more than 40 minutes to Winter Park and Orlando where we attended a wedding at Harry P. Leu Gardens.

Overall a very pleasant stay and nice host.

Adorable and convenient property

  • 5 of 5

The property is a beautiful affair. It consisted of a complete home and a semi-attached bungalow. I reserved the bungalow for my wife an I, but in the interim of me actually booking the reservation, the previous couple staying in there had extended their stay. The hostess was kind enough to allow us to stay inside much larger home and we had it all to ourselves. It had all the amenities of a house, to include a jacuzzi bath downstairs. There was plenty of off-street parking - no issues there. The neighborhood was quite attracitve and peaceful, with many restored homes. Downtown old Sanford was an easy walk away.

Everything was better than I expected and the hostess was quite friendly, trusting, and sincere.

If I was to make a "micro" suggestion: Most windows had curtains but lacked shades. We avoided using the bathroom downstairs, since it did not have any window coverings whatsoever. This was also problematic in the evening, since all our movements within the house could be observed from outside if any of the interior lights were used. I think this small issue will probably be addressed by the owner/hostess in the near future and it would not stop me from visiting this home again. Thank you!
