Edisto River Cottage is a newly constructed cottage located near the Edisto River and the Givhans Ferry State Park. We are just off the beaten path of Summerville, South Carolina, the birth place of Sweet Tea. We are close enough to shops, dining and cultural events, but far enough to help you forget about the hustle and bustle of city life. Our cottage is equipped with Wifi, flat screen tvs, walk-in shower, clawfoot soaking tub, full kitchen, including a gas range, microwave, and other modern conveniences, as well as memory foam mattresses. Our cottage sleeps 1-4 guests. We hope you will come out to the Edisto and enjoy a peaceful night's stay in our modern, but cozy cottage!
I grew up in Arkansas and visited my Grandpa and Grandma Brown in the Ozark mountains when I was a little girl. I've always felt more at home in the country near farms and dirt roads. My husband and I fell in love with the Givhans Ferry area right outside of Summerville, South Carolina. We've made this area our home and we love sharing the natural setting and laid back country life with our guests! We hope you will come and stay in the little "Brown" cottage and enjoy your time in the country right outside historic Charleston, SC!
Nels and Shelly Davis purchased this cottage in 2014
You will want to choose this property if you love trees, nature and country living. If you are looking for all the modern amenities with a "camping" like feel. This cottage is non-smoking, with a queen-size memory foam mattress in the master bedroom, a full-size memory foam mattress in the loft bedroom, and a queen-size pull-out sofa with memory foam mattress pad, filtered mini split air conditioning and heating units with individual remote controls, as well as, new appliances. It's not camping, it's GLAMPING!
The cottage is located on a 3/4 acre lot with beautiful pine, birch, elm, crepe myrtle and oak trees. There is a good size lawn for pitching tents, picnicking, and playing outdoor games. This property is located 1/2 mile from the Edisto River, the longest black river in North America. There are 3 public boat landings near by and a state park that has a great swimming hole for kids!
Shelly and Nels have provided an EXCELLENT home away from home. Located in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood, it truly is a wonderful place to stay. When my Aunt and I walked through the door, it was like coming home. This tastefully decorated home has a fully stocked kitchen, claw-foot tub, large walk-in shower, comfortable beds, covered front porch, air-conditioner, washer & dryer, outside grill, and television. It is centrally located between Savannah, Ga and Charleston, SC and Givhans Ferry State Park is located right across the street. I enjoyed sitting on the front porch, reading a book. My Aunt LOVED, LOVED the claw-foot tub in the upstairs bathroom! Shelly came over one night to introduce herself and ask if we needed anything. It was awesome to meet her and know that if we needed anything we only had to call her. We visited Middleton Estates, Charleston Tea Plantation, Port Royal, Beaufort, Charleston, and Savannah, GA. We even explored the antique shops in Summerville and Walterboro, and went sailing in Charleston. The best part of the trip was coming back to the house and being able to kick back and relax. It was an awesome place to stay! Hopefully we will be able to come back and stay.
We couldn't have chosen a better spot... secluded yet close enough to so much. The cabin was perfect with two separate bedrooms and your couldn't have asked for any better hosts. Shelly and Nells made sure we had everything we needed and were close by for any questions. We will definitely be back...
We arrived and Shelly and Nels are the nicest people you could ever have the pleasure of meeting! When you feel like you are friends and they make you feel that way how couldn't you have a great time? The cottages are absolutely beautiful and clean! We loved it there they made it so nice for us and we're the most helpful with anything you needed! I will always come back and stay with them! For years to come! The cottages are stunning! No one should ever hesitate staying here!! Thank you again Shelly and Nels!!
The property was perfect. We were so surprised with all that the cottage had there for guests. It was immaculate, so many of those little things were there so we didn't have to go buy it just to turn around and throw it away after a week. The cottage was really like being home away from home! We lacked nothing, and the place is current and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend one of their cottages to others. You won't be disappointed!
This cottage was so clean and just a beautiful place. We all loved everything about it and it was in a peaceful area. Not a bad drive to Charleston and we drove the scenic route that Mrs. Davis told us about up 61. It was a beautiful drive. This cottage and furnishings were great.
Mr. And Mrs. Davis were very kind as well.
Hope to return soon and to see the new construction home.
