About Pat Cater

We are both retired and share our time between Mallorca and the UK. Having happy memories of family holidays in Mallorca, we decided that this was where we wanted to buy and live. We love the beauty, the friendliness of the people, the peace and the pace of life. It has endless things to do; whether it is sunbathing on its many beaches, walking its rugged paths, visiting its elaborate churches, shopping in cosmopolitan Palma, and not forgetting eating its wonderful fresh fish.

Pat Cater purchased this house in 2013

Why Pat Cater chose Fornalutx

We looked at many properties before finally seeing and falling in love with Ca'n Martir. It's previous owners had owned it for nearly 30 years and were reluctantly selling it as they were now in their 80's. On arriving for the very first time, we were immediately taken by the peacefulness and the beauty. The views only improved as we walked down the stone steps to the house. The many terraces offered space and privacy. Since owning the house we have carried out a complete renovation, installing a modern fully integrated kitchen and modern wet room. We have opened up the living space to make it light, airy and cool in the summer. But most of all, once you arrive you instantly relax, unwind and simply appreciate what surrounds you.

What makes this house unique

The location and access mean that once here you have complete peace and privacy, yet you are only a 10 minute walk to the facilities of Fornalutx with its Spar shop, bars and restaurants, a 15 minute drive from all that Puerto Soller offers with its safe and clean beach and a 10 minute drive from Soller with its larger supermarket, bars, tapas, restaurants and famous train to Palma and the port. Being a Unesco site, it is unspoilt with photo moments at every corner!

Stunning Location and property.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying here in this beautiful home with its breathtaking views.

We loved having the extra space with the little extra property for our teenagers.

The pool is perfect and sitting on the terrace surronded by mountains was particularly special.

It catered to all our needs and any minor issues were dealt with quickly by Carolina and Juan.

The village is gorgeous with plenty of restaurants and a great bakery a good 10 minute walk but fine for us.

The sea and Port a short drive away.

We would definitely recomend and will return we travel extensively so to want to return to this unique spot means a lot!!

Thank you Pat.

Beautiful location with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday at this gorgeous, well-equipped and comfortable olivar. The location is really peaceful with stunning views over the valley. We loved sitting on the terrace in the evening, listening to the sound of sheep bells tinkling in the surrounding olive groves. The pool terrace is not overlooked and there is plenty of seating and shady areas, plus the casita is great as an additional space with fridge for cold drinks and freezer for ice! It's a 15 minute walk down to the lovely village of Fornalutx which has some good restaurants (our favourite was 'Calzone'), a small but well-stocked supermarket and a great bakery. The walk back up the hill takes longer and is more challenging in the heat, particularly after a couple of beers with lunch! The surrounding roads are narrow so you need to be a confident driver, but the view and privacy of the location are definitely worth the effort. A great place for a relaxing holiday in this beautiful and peaceful part of Mallorca.

An amazing three week stay

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in several locations in and around Fornalutx but this has to be the most stunning and peaceful, with beautiful views over the valley to Fornalutx and Soller. We stayed in the Olivar which was well equipped with everything you could possibly need and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fabulous after a hard days walking.

There is lots of outdoor space to enjoy with comfortable furniture and BBQ provided.

Pat and Tony were the kindest hosts, who work really hard to make our stay perfect.

Lovely Olivar

  • 5 of 5

Can Martir proved to be the perfect pitch from which to see the beautiful valley. The terraces

smell of lavender and rosemary and the orange blossom which wafts up from below. The sounds are of donkeys, cockerels and sheep bells. At night the stars are amazing. You could stay in this well-equipped and entrancing Olivar for your whole holiday, eating at either of the table areas and sunbathing next to the pool, but Fornalutx and its restaurants and just down in the valley. It rained several days when we where there but we found the living area to be very airy and comfortable ,the wood-burning stove excellent and the wi-fi and tv selection to be better than home.

Thank you Pat and Tony for being such good hosts.

Fabulous setting on the hill above Fornalutx. House & pool are beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Great time at Can Martir Pat & Tony super hosts . The house is beautiful and very well equipped. The location is ideal for hiking in the hills above & The walk to the village is only 10 minutes away . If you visit here you will not be disappointed however if you are hiring car you must get a small one as the roads are very narrow

Lovely property located in one of the prettiest villages in Spain

  • 5 of 5

From the terrace, you can relax and take in the view of the villages nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Within easy drives are the Palma, the seaside port towns, or the historic monasteries in Western Mallorca. For the adventurous, a wide range of hikes lead straight from the door. The home is both airy and cozy, spotlessly clean with a well- equipped kitchen. Hosts are friendly, helpful with advice for touring the region, and thoughtful enough to stock the kitchen with basic supplies to make your arrival easier. Next time we will bring the whole family!
