Luxury stay with champagne in an Artist's Atelier In The 5th

Bedrooms 1
Space 540 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

Be assured that this property functions completely within the legal restrictions recently set in place by the Mayor of Paris for short term and vacation rentals.

Enjoy this newly renovated and decorated one-bedroom apartment in one of Paris’s most sought out neighborhoods. Parisian artist, Françoise Dutourleau, has decided to open her home to guests after having renovated it to incorporate some of the same details found in only the best hotels. Opposed to staying in a hotel, you’ll have room to spread out and cook in the gourmet kitchen.

The bathroom is new and spacious with both a shower and large tub as well as two sinks.

Some nice amenities include two flat screen TVs, a CD player, excellent wifi throughout the apartment, hairdryer, washer/dryer and, a Nespresso coffee maker. We have a good assortment of books on Paris in the apartment to help you plan your visit. An added feature is free cable with movies of your choice and a telephone with free calls to the United States. A nice bottle of champagne will be chilling in the refrigerator to welcome you to Paris.

The apartment is nestled on a quiet one-way street on the left bank. This is a real neighborhood with a generous assortment of restaurants, bakeries, boutiques, markets and bars within an easy strolling radius. The lively and colorful rue Mouffetard is about a ten minute walk where you can kick back and enjoy the bustle and join the locals dancing on Sunday mornings. Rue Mouffetard has buildings that date from the middle ages and it now hosts a colorful, daily fruit and vegetable market. The Jardin des Plantes, its museums and the Seine are both easily accessible by foot with the Jardin des Plantes being no more than a few minute walk. Also easily accessible is the Pantheon, Place Monge, Arène de Lutèce, the Sorbonne and Luxembourg Gardens.

If you love to eat, there are a plethora of choices including a one star guide Michelin restaurant which is one of our favorites and is no more than two blocks away. In addition to the traditional bistros, local restaurants and bars, the neighborhood offers some excellent ethnic choices. If you get tired of dining out, the apartment offers dishes, pots, pans and silver so as to enable you to prepare a lovely dinner in Françoise's beautifully equipped kitchen. (Keep in mind that there are five bakeries, not including rue Mouffetard, so you should always be able to find fresh bread and goodies daily.)

The apartment will be Françoise’s permanent residence in the near future. As a result, it is evident that much love went into the restoration with an attention to quality and aesthetics. Françoise’s goal is that those who choose her apartment will have a beautiful and welcoming place to stay. For example, you can count on a bottle of champagne to be waiting for you as well as some of her favorite wines!

I will be meeting you at the apartment with keys to give you a tour of the apartment and to help answer any questions on getting settled into the neighborhood. More often than not I am only a phone call away.

About Loui Franke

I decided to retire in Paris after having lived and worked in Key West, Florida for about 20 years. I recently published a book called 'Parisian Postcards : Snapshots of Life in Paris' and I continue to enjoy sharing my experiences of living here with others. I am helping the owner, Françoise, with her lovely apartment.

Loui Franke purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Loui Franke chose 5th Quartier Latin

Françoise has many wonderful memories of this part of Paris and so she and her husband bought this apartment for their retirement home. They have renovated and decorated the flat with love and wish to share their piece of paradise with others. As an added bonus you can enjoy Françoise's beautiful and original paintings.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, location, location! You can enjoy a piece of luxury living in one of Paris’s most sought out neighborhoods. Best of all, it is easy to get to the Seine for a daily walk and the owner wants each person to have a comfortable and luxurious stay! La vie en rose in the 5th.

I am here to help with your travel planning, to answer basic questions and to organize your getting the key. We want you to have a good introduction to the neighborhood and to answer your questions on getting settled into your home away from home.

Very clean, functional, wonderfully decorated apartment

  • 5 of 5

We were extremely happy with the apartment, which had all we wanted. Everything was

very clean, the bathroom is super nice and the kitchen was well stocked. The apartment is also easily accessible on the ground floor, though because of this we were not able to sleep with the windows open. We appreciated all the little thoughtful gifts from the owners, made us feel right at home in Paris.

Owner's Response: Françoise and I thank you for your generous praise. It was our pleasure to host you in Paris and it is always a pleasure when our guests are pleased with the apartment and our neighbourhood. I must say the apartment was perfect after your departure and you are the first guests to have made the bed. We are not supposed to be partial but you may be our perfect guests. Hope to see you again.

What a wonderful apartment! Everything we could possibly need within arm's reach.

We had an amazing week at the artist's atelier. Francoise is a talented artist and her apartment has stunning aesthetic touches throughout. She left great coffee, wine, and snacks and we loved being near the Jardin des Plantes. We will definitely come back!

Wonderful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This is just a wonderful apartment. Real, king-sized bed!

All amenities. Even a couple of bottles of wine to greet your stay.

Around the corner from everything needed, as well as jardin des Plantes.

Would stay again in a flash, as well as recommend to all.

Wonderful location, great apartment and caring, attentive hosts

  • 5 of 5

Every well thought detail is designed for comfort. Beyond basic staples for your stay, great local shops and vendors provide all that you need. Most important, all of your "where do I..." and "Whst do I..." questions answered in detail within a couple of hours. I am a frequent VRBO flyer and this property gets very high marks!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to have had you as our guest and we are truly touched that you appreciated the effort that we put into making your stay enjoyable. This is particularly true for Françoise who wants everyone to love Paris and to have special memories of their visit. If we can help than we have done our job. Come back!

A charming apartment, with charming hosts.

  • 5 of 5

A lovely apartment, exceptionally well designed to make maximum use of space while being very comfortable. The intriguing and gorgeous paintings are due to Francoise and provide color and focal points. A separate living room allowed me to have guests in for drinks (and dinner, had I had time). Ample closet space. Near two metro stops, within walking distance of the Seine. An excellent cheese shop, an organic grocery, a hair dresser (Les coiffeurs Gaitan and Denis, just in case). There is a courtyard leading to the front door and a small private courtyard in back so that one can have a cross breeze. The apartment was very clean, the amenities were perfect. Loui and Francoise bring nespresso pods every week and a bottle of wine. They also provide the "starter" items for the ktichen --- salt, olive oil, and so on. I go to Paris most summers and this is really the best place that I've found!

Our second time in this beautiful apartment which never disappoints. From the gorgeous original artwork on the walls to the beautifully appointed kitchen-everything was perfect! Located near a bus stop and within walking distance of the Seine, restaurants, shopping, bakeries, and markets, it is the perfect spot for an enjoyable stay. Francoise and Loui are gracious and welcoming, and my husband and I look forward to our return!!
