About the property

A beautiful detached 2 bed, 2 bathroom townhouse in a lovely Village

La Baroque is a beautiful detached 2 bed, 2 bathroom townhouse set within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The house comprises of an open plan kitchen diner / lounge area on the ground floor, making the most of the space for an enjoyable, sociable holiday. There is a television which has HDMI and USB making it suitable for external devises such as an Amazon Fire Stick, so please bring them along and connect them to the Wi-Fi. The television is also connected to a DVD player and there are numerous DVD's suitable for all tastes. There is also a Wii Games console along with Wii games to entertain the whole family. There is a Roberts’s radio with a USB cable attached so you can play your music from your phone directly through the radio.

There is also a downstairs shower room with a toilet and hand basin. From the dining area you have access to the secure south facing garden which overlooks rural grazing land. Throughout the year there may be sheep, chickens and goats on the land.

The 1st floor comprises of two large bedrooms providing sleeping accommodation in King and Twin arrangements and a family size bathroom with WC, hand basin and enclosed power shower.

For families with babies, a travel cot is available too along with a highchair. For families with children there are plastic plates, cups and cutlery provided along with board games and books for their enjoyment.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and is also provided with a seating area overlooking the garden, great for enjoying a drink and watching the world go by and there is a large wood burning stove for the cooler Autumn evenings. In the master bedroom there is also a sofa so guests can watch the television which has English free view attached.

The 2nd bedroom is provided with twin beds and has a window with view of the Castle at St Germain de Confolens and a seating area too. You will find hairdryers in both bedrooms.

There is a sofa bed in the lounge which can accommodate 2 guests (preferably children or teenagers) and bedding can be provided for this.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Within the garden you will find tables and chairs to enjoy the Alfresco Lifestyle, whilst enjoying the peace and serenity of your own secure garden. There is a bbq for guests to enjoy and please help yourself to the spices for marinating your food.

Please note these is an un fenced pond within the garden.

Our love affair with France started in 2008 when we decided to holiday somewhere different, somewhere where we had not been before. We love the scenery of the UK with the open fields and rolling hills and spend hours walking our trusted companion Timmy, our springer spaniel. We wanted to holiday somewhere that could offer us the relaxation we wanted away from our busy jobs, coupled with good golf courses, friendly people, great food and wine and of course the sun. France had it all, and as we started exploring different regions in France we kept on coming back to the Charente. For us the area had it all, with its pretty villages dotted along the river banks to its numerous Chateau’s just waiting to be explored. The Lacs de Charente to spend the day at swimming, and playing on the water to the peace and tranquillity of just wandering through the countryside, we decided to buy a little piece of France

Why Emma chose Lessac

The timber beams shows the character of the house, the log burners keep you nice and cosy in the winter and the south facing garden is perfect for those lazy days sunbathing and eating Alfresco. The open plan downstairs makes the house very sociable and and enjoyable place to be.

A really lovely cottage in a beautiful area

We had a fantastic week staying in La Baroque. The house is lovely and has real character - if anything it is even more spacious and comfortable than we expected from the photos - and is well-equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The garden was big enough for our boys to run around while still being an oasis of calm and providing a great outdoor dining space. The area around Confolens is picturesque and unspoilt with plenty of options for spending lazy summer days. This was one of our best trips and I would recommend La Baroque to anyone.

The region is well known for its micro climate, meaning that in Summer it can be hotter and sunnier than the South of France.

With many Festivals throughout the Region you are never too far away from the action. In Confolens there is a large Music Festival held every year in August, where musicians from all over the world come and perform. The region is filled with rolling hills perfect for walking or cycling and visiting the beautiful towns and villages that are dotted around the area. With the river Vienne less than a minutes walk from the property, fishing is also on your doorstep. Within the area you will find the Leisure lakes of the Haute Charente. Perfect for Swimming, canoeing, fishing or sailing. You will also find horse-riding, and canoeing centres which are a great way to explore the area. Bike hire is available in the local village of Lessac less than 1.5k away where you will also find a great bar and restaurant. Confolens itself has may bars and restaurants selling a selection on local drinks and cuisine. With 2 big supermarkets and a weekly market less than 4k away from the property you will be spoilt for choice. One of the local landmarks (which can be seen from the twin bedroom) is the Castle at St Germain de Confolens. In the summer months they have many interesting things going on such as Falconry displays, and art exhibitions within the grounds. Just the view from the top is breath taking alone. The area is also famous for its love of motor racing with the Circuit du Val du Vienne only being 15K away, track days, and weekend events happen almost all year round. From French Superbikes to Porches, Renault Clio's to Caterham's there is something for everyone. The nearest Airport is Limoges and train stations can also be found at Limoges or Angouleme. A car is recommended to explore and enjoy what this wonderful part of France has to offer.
