About Susie Jeffery
We were builders in Glenwood Springs Colorado for years and moved to Canon City to be near our children and grandchildren. We raised Missouri Fox Trotting horses for 15 years and this area was perfect for that.
Susie Jeffery purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Susie Jeffery chose Cañon City
Canon City has much to offer year round with the warm winters. You can do most outdoor activities at any time. Great hiking, rock climbing, walking on the beautiful River Walk or skiing at Breckenridge Ski area two hours away.
What makes this Cabin unique
If you want a cozy cabin feel without the "'hotel" price this may be for you. Bring you dog (no charge) and as we live next door we can walk it while you are gone or it may come in the yard with our two Golden Retrievers.
100% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 7 days before check-in date.
Cozy and Perfect for Two
This is our second time staying here, and it was just as perfect as the first time! The cabin is very cozy, and Susie made sure there were enough heaters so we could stay warm. If you choose to cook, there is enough cookware so you can cook your meal as well as some spices and condiments. She also had it stocked with plenty of coffee and creamer. Even the shower had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
Susie is so sweet, welcoming us when we arrived, and is always available if needed. Being that we travel with our fur-babies, it helps that it is very pet friendly, but please make sure to clean up after your pups so it stays this way!
We got to see the Royal Gorge, visited several local parks in Pueblo, and even drove to Great Sand Dunes National Park... again, all pet friendly.
The cabin is perfect for two, and hope to return again!
It was wonderful to see your smiling faces again! And your dogs as well!
Thank you for your kind remarks and I hope you can come to Canon City again even tho you have come here from a long ways away! Happy trails!
Owner was nice but cabin was a disappointment
Upon arriving owner politely greeted us. Was immediately disappointed to see the cabin did not have a fenced back area as shown in picture. Apparently they have 2 cabins and show the outside of the fenced one and inside of the non fenced. She did state I could put my dogs in her fenced yard but that would have not been feasible for us nor our dogs.
The cabin was extremely small and unsafe in my opinion. I really don't believe it's up to code. No smoke or co alarms. No window or exhaust fan in bathroom. The bathroom you have to basically turn and walk sideways and tilt your head to avoid hitting the cabinets. Not to mention the high riser at the bathroom entrance to trip you and stub your toes. Windows had no screens and husband smashed his hand when it fell. The outlet at the table didn't work. Microwave is extremely highly mounted which was unreachable for me and unsafe. States it has internet but we were never able to connect. Called the owner and left a msg and never returned my call. We were not satisfied with our stay and it need not accommodate our needs as we were expecting.
Just what we needed
We needed a quick, convenient location that our 4 legged kids could be with us to see MOM. And here it is! Cozy TOO! Wish we had time to go fishing (pole and tackle box was provided).

Quaint, cozy, and surrounded by horses
This little cabin was the perfect place to relax after adventuring outside all day! We greatly enjoyed our stay and loved watching the horses and walking the dogs over to the creek.
So glad you and your dogs enjoyed your stay! Hope you had a great experience here in Canon City. Thanks for your kind review! Susie
Perfect cabin for a get away!
We just got back from staying at Susie's cabin and it was perfect! Susie was an amazing host, when we asked if we could get a fan she was very friendly and it was in the cabin when we got back from exploring. There are horses, which was a great plus to go around and look at them. The cabin is a 1 room-1 bath cabin with a mini kitchenette. The cabin was perfect for my boyfriend and I for a long weekend trip. This is such a perfect place to stay and we will definitely be booking again!
It was wonderful having you two enthusiastic folks and I am glad you had a great visit to Canon City. Thank you for your kind review! Look forward to seeing you again some day!
We had two day mini-vacation riding Royal Gorge train and wanted a non-hotel for the overnight. Very cozy, clean and private. Small space and yet very spaciously efficient. Full kitchen. We were charmed by Sue's warm greeting and her two friendly labs, and then left to ourselves. Rained that night and we delighted in stepping outside on the covered porch savoring the cool Colorado evening. Even though bed was a tad soft, and this was exactly what we wanted. Very close to downtown and a refreshing refuge from the world.
The bed is now much firmer! Thank you for letting us know and it was a pleasure to have you stay with us!
World class River Rafting, Fly Fishing and Rock Climbing! Skiing at Breckenridge 2 hours away.
