Having undergone a quarter of a million pound refurbishment, our aim was to the make exquisiteness of the property match the splendor of the location. The Sun rises over the sea at the front of the property and it sets over the Ley at the back. The views are world famous and locations really don't get any more special than this. Treat yourself to a holiday of serene bliss. Drink in the sun on the beach during the day and then retire to the privacy of your own patio overlooking the Ley to watch the sun set as you unwind with a cold glass of white wine. Enjoy the spoils of a day's beach fishing and BBQ your fresh caught mackerel on the beach or sample some of the fine dining in Dartmouth or Salcombe's renowned restaurants. Perfect for families, groups of friends, walkers, beach goers, surfers or just lazy dayers!

About Joe Allansen

We do this because we think we have something very special here and we think we are duty bound to share it with you. Torcross is one of Devon's best kept secrets and this little corner of the South Hams is where we have chosen to call home. We consider ourselves blessed to have built a life in such a lovely location and the joy we have found living here had facilitate Waterside House holiday home. We could not bring ourselves to sell this house when we decided to relocate and so we have kept it and are now opening the doors to guests for holiday letting. The property has been a very successful bed and breakfast for over 16 years and the house and location are a perfect place for people to take a wonderful vacation. A wonderful place for families with children of all ages.

Joe Allansen purchased this house in 2013

Why Joe Allansen chose Kingsbridge

We as a family love Torcross and have lived and holidayed here for many, many years. With local ties to the area it is truly in our hearts and we think it will be in yours too. The beaches are unspoiled and never crowded. The scenery is breathtaking and the water is clean, crystal clear blue. The locals are so friendly and the community is lovely and not one you will find in many places in the world today. The local Pub, the Start Bay a family run pub for many years, is famous for its fish and chips as well as it's welcoming staff. A pint and a portion of fish and chips on the sea wall as the sun sets reminds you what life is all about. The Boat house restaurant run by a local family and boat builder is a labour of love for them all and it really comes out in the experience you have when eating there. They do carols round the tree at Christmas with mince pies and mulled wine and films for the kids with bacon butties on a Saturday morning, how lovely is that! The Sea breeze cafe is another family affair. A beautiful thatched white washed beach cottage with afternoon Devon cream teas with scones and jam and with nannies gift shop upstairs, you are transported back in time to a simpler more restful pace of life.

What makes this house unique

As an Architect I think this property has benefited from some unique design touches. Combining the comfort and luxury of modern, while retaining the charm and character of the original period features . Tastefully redecorated throughout with oak doors, free standing bath from which you can watch the goings on at sea, stainless steel and glass staircase and Juliet balcony give you the Miami beach feel. And yet original period feature have been retained such as stained glass window, oak flooring, fire places and picture rails.

The furnishing are also luxury and the mattresses are top of the range Vispring, ensuring a comfortable nights sleep for all. The kitchen is brand new and has the latest state of the art AGA for that true 'life style' living experience.

There are parking space for 4/5 cars depending on the length, so no need to keep paying the meter. Bus route to Dartmouth and Plymouth via Kingsbridge, run from right outside your door. The Village shop and post office are open daily for your essential.

We offer you the use of a boat and a BBQ, outside space with table and chairs.

and with a East - West orientation the house gets the sun all day

3 Separate hot water tanks feed the freestanding bath and 4 en-suite showers. The pressurised hot water system gives you plenty of power in the shower satisfaction. Both the entrance hall and the main living area open via french doors directly onto the beach front and so you can lap up beach living from the comfort of the sofa.

All the bedrooms have spectacular out looks with views to the front and back of the house. The Ley is totally mesmerising and you could lie in be all day and watch the swan families glide majestically around the lake. The sea and beach are equally fascinating as you watch the to and fro of the sailing boats back and forth from Dartmouth to Salcombe. Just perfect!

Beautiful house right by the sea!

  • 4 of 5

Eight of us (ages 6 to 69) had a great week at Waterside, just 5 metres from the beach and only a few more to the cafe and pub. Torcross is on a beautiful coast line, with lovely walks along the beach, up the coast path or round the lake. The house is really well equipped with comfortable beds - the only drawback being the awkward design of the kitchen. And we made good use of the canoe and barbecue provided. Would love to visit again!

Absolute Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous. So private and cozy. Room was everything you could hope for. All updated yet maintaining the quaintness. Bathtub and shower were excellent - bed very comfortable. The dining room was so cozy and inviting. The hosts were perfect - went above and beyond to look after our needs. Even drove us to our train station. We truly had the best time here. I highly recommend it - I would definitely stay again.

Great people and great place

  • 5 of 5

When the sun rises over the sea just outside your front door it is amazing. Good couple who run this place and a great pub next to the beach 50m away. Very clean house and food great. Anyone who likes the long open country walks would love this place. Take boots as the Coastal Footpath is just there and there are loads of other walks to do. Its a small village but a huge view. Some Kayaks and windsurfers use this beach which cannot get crowded as it it so long, Real Devon can be seen here the nearest motorway is at Exeter 45 miles away. We are definitely going to go back there.

What an absolutely beautiful part of Devon

  • 5 of 5

A lovely, well decorated and homely place to stay. The hosts are wonderfully accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely gorgeous environment, with the Ocean right on you doorstep and beautiful Coastal walks. The local pub is very welcoming with the best fish n chip in the land. I thoroughly recommend staying at Waterside
