Overview

About the property

5 bedroom, 5 bathroom villa with pool and amazing views across Javea bay

The villa has been refurbished to a very high standard combining traditional Spanish features with luxurious modern bathrooms and kitchen. It offers 5 bedrooms (all with air conditioning), 5 bathrooms, 2 reception rooms, a kitchen, a private infinity pool and several large terraces.

The magnificent panoramic views encompass the Port and lighthouse to the east, with Ibiza and Formentera visible on a clear day. To the south and west are views of the coast and valley, with the Ifach of Calpe in the distance and in the foreground the medieval town of Javea.

Don't forget your binoculars to take advantage of the stunning views.

Entry from ground level is via the Otis lift or stairs. On the first floor is the stunning infinity pool with spacious terraces including a newly constructed secluded terrace. Patio doors open into a small lounge area, with comfortable seating and a mini kitchen with a drinks fridge, sink and microwave as well as TV with Playstation & DVD player. Also on this level is a shower room and two bedrooms, both with air conditioning. One is twin with beautiful views out to sea, and the other is a spacious double, with room for an additional bed or cot and a spacious luxury en-suite bathroom with wet-room style shower. This bedroom has patio doors leading onto the terrace and the pool and has stunning views.

Interior stairs lead up to the second floor. Here there is a very spacious open plan lounge / dining area, which is beautifully furnished and benefits from a large wall mounted flat screen TV with full satellite package and a music system. The whole of the upstairs is lined with windows and french doors, and the outside features an enormous covered naya, as well as an open terrace with two dining areas with a barbeque, and magnificent views. The upper terrace has a shade sail for relaxing in the heat of the sun. The kitchen is off the lounge area and is state of the art luxury with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and many other Bosch appliances and features. On this floor are three further bedrooms, all air conditioned; one double and two twin, although one of the twin rooms has 2 x 1.05m wide beds which can be wheeled together to make a massive 2.1m wide bed or wheeled apart to make 2 large singles. This twin room is en-suite with an enormous shower and has doors straight onto the beautiful terrace. There is a second, spacious twin bedroom here and a further double bedroom, also with patio doors onto the terrace. On this floor are two further bathrooms, one with a bath, and one with a huge shower. All bedrooms have air conditioning and the lounge areas have ceiling fans, which are wonderful for keeping cool. All the bathrooms and the kitchen are recently fitted and very luxurious, and as the lift provides access from the ground to the first floor, this property is suitable for those with limited mobility, or even wheelchair users, bearing in mind that the lift does not go to the top floor and there are a few steps up to there.

The villa has a landscaped terraced garden, with succulents, fruit trees and mediterranean plants such as bourganvilla

About Keith Smith

We have recently retired to West Sussex, and like to spend as much time as possible in Javea during the winter and spring. My husband is a keen gardener, and I was an accountant so keep busy helping with local charities as well as my new hobby - playing the ukulele. We have four daughters and nine grandchildren, and they all enjoy visiting the villa and the girls have many happy memories of their holidays there as children.

Keith Smith purchased this villa in 1972

Why Keith Smith chose Jávea

We fell in love with the area more than 40 years ago when the valley was covered in orange orchards, and Javea was a rural community just beginning to embrace tourism. We purchased the site and built the villa to take advantage of the elevation offering unspoilt views of the valley, sea and mountains. Since than we have had many family holidays in Javea, and have watched it grow into a lovely, family friendly resort. As we approached retirement we completely refurbished the villa so that it now offers a high standard of accommodation with modern bathrooms and kitchen and air conditioning in the bedrooms. There is a lovely terrace at the front of the property with the infinity pool looking over the valley and bay.

There are plenty of activities in Javea and the area for those of an active nature, yet it has avoided the high rise development of neighbouring resorts. The location of the villa means that the old town and port with all their bars and restaurants are in walking distance. You can always take a taxi back if you wish!

What makes this villa unique

The villa has a superb location on Monte Puchol, considered by the locals to be the best in Javea. It is close to the old town with its typically Spanish architecture and plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. The view is the outstanding feature and we never tire of it both by day and night, and the configuration of the villa has been designed to make the most of the south facing view.

Our neighbours are a mix of Spanish, French, German, Swiss, Swedish and British, a real European community.

Fantastic Villa

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful holiday at this beautiful villa. It was probably our last family holiday but we all had an amazing time. The pool is fabulous and the owner very kindly allowed us an early arrival and late check out.

We would recommend this villa to anyone. It is also ideal for two families and the space is mind blowing.

This really does deserve a Five Star Rating

Great location, fabulois views

  • 5 of 5

A lovely large villa with plenty of spaces to get some peace and quiet if, as we were, you are part of a large group.

Easily walkable to Javea port (20mins) and Javea old town (15 mins) and whilst the walk back up the hill isn’t bad, in the heat it’s a bit of a slog. That said, taxi’s are easy to get (call or hail) and from the port cost just over €8 whilst we were there. The walk to Arenal side is slightly longer (35 mins) but a great stop about halfway is the Bar Siesta or Montgo do Bongo (adjacent) on the sea front. Alternately there is a little blue train that runs between the port and Arenal.

Our three week stay flew by; we did very little other than wander into town or the port, and read on the terrace enjoying the fantastic view - a great place for some quality R&R

A beautiful villa with stunning views.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely holiday in Javea, the villa was gorgeous with the most wonderful views! The owner was always very helpful and provided us with lots of useful information. Javea itself is the perfect resort for families, it has a beautiful beach and more restaurants and bars you could wish for, we had some amazing food!! It is a pleasant 20 minute walk to the old town where the restaurants are full of charm and offer incredible food, a taxi is recommended home as the hill is a challenge on a full stomach! A car is essential to get the the beach but is only a 5-10 minute drive away.

We had a great holiday and will definately return!

Amazing house for the big family

  • 4 of 5

We are alarge family of 10 people from the ages of 8 to 65. Everyone loves the house. The only thing pulling down the grades from five stars to four is a wet smell in one of the downstairs bathrooms. You will need a car to go to the beach and supermarket. As the house is on top of a hill the way down is ok, but coming back home will be a warm and heavy walk. Besides that we all highly recommend the property and location. The views are really breathtaking!!

Beautiful villa with a stunning view

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the villa with my husband, friends and two small children and we all had a marvellous holiday. The pool area is perfect, for adults and kids alike, with stunning views of Javea below. And the villa itself had plenty of space for us not to feel on top of each other. I particularly liked the fact there were so many different patios to get some privacy if I needed it! Javea is a great town and we loved taking the kids to the beach, or to the various restaurants in the port and Old Town. Thanks for a great stay - we will definitely be returning!

Some information on Javea that you might find useful.

Early on your stay, I suggest you go to the Tourist Office in the Old Town and ask for a programme of events which are on during your stay, and pick up any of the pamphlets which may be of interest to you. The Tourist Office in the old town is located by the main church which still retains the scars of the Spanish Civil War. When you enter the Tourist Office look down through the glass floor to see some of the Roman remains in Javea.

Shopping: There are many supermarkets in the town. Mercadona are good and there is a new Mas y Mas not far from the beach… very handy. Lidl-recently refurbished- is similar to those in Europe, and opposite is a newly opened Aldi. There is an indoor market in the old town which is open Monday to Saturday. Here you can buy from a selection of olives, bread, meats, fish, fruit and vegetables. After shopping, I recommend to try the small Bar Mercat , where they sell tapas and a full range of drinks, including freshly pressed orange juice, granizado de limon (iced lemon drink), café solo (espresso), café con leche (cappuccino) or café cortado (coffee with a little milk). On Thursday morning there is an open air market which is normally at the Placa de la Constitucio Espanola, just follow the crowds. For delightful souvenirs there is a pearl shop with a good selection of reasonably priced jewellery, as well as shoe shops and leather goods shops. There are several bodegas in Javea where you can sample the best of Spanish wine.

At the port there is Shoo la la (opposite Mas y Mas) for the best value shoes and handbags and banter! There is also an interesting hat shop nearby.

Restaurants: In the high season it is advisable to book a table for the restaurants. El Arenal (the sandy beach) Pizzeria Pepa has a good 3 course menu at lunchtime which includes 0.5 litre of wine or other drinks. In the evening there is a full menu and pizza & pasta which are good value, and the “chef’s salad” is big enough for 4 to share. La Boheme is close to Pizzeria Pepa and has French style cuisine.

Los Remos is a good Spanish restaurant as is its neighbour La Perla. The Austriaco (Austrian) cafe is good for coffee and cakes, and there is an Italian restaurant Lungo Mare which is worth a visit, their pizzas and pastas are big enough to share. If you only want some snacks Es Ta Pa Ti sells good tapas and a full range of drinks. For something completely different there is a good value Chinese restaurant back from the promenade. Opposite Mongo de Bongo bar is a Spanish restaurant Pepe e Estrella offering a resonably priced good selection.

Plus many other restaurants & bars, and in the evening stalls may be set up along the beach promenade to sell local artefacts.

The Old Town has many restaurants and bars clustered around the historic church, and is within walking distance of the villa or you may wish to park the car at the bottom of the hill. For Spanish style food and atmosphere there are two good restaurants on the narrow road opposite the church entrance.

The port area has a good range of restaurants & bars overlooking the sea, & no traffic. Piri Piri is good, and there is a fine Chinese restaurant (Hong Kong) a little back from the sea. The restaurant called La Cocina situated on the road down from the villa towards the port is run by an English family and serves Spanish and English style meals, and has a (frozen) takeaway menu. Another good restaurant is called Sofias on Avenida del Pla. This is within walking distance from the villa or en route to MacDonalds if you prefer. Casa della Pasta is good value and very popular so you will need to book, and is also on Avenida del Pla, that is the road leading to the Villa and within walking distance. Within 30 minutes by car there are several attractions including Benidorm, the largest resort in Europe, where there is Terra Mitica, Terra Natura and Aqualandia and a number of nightclubs and theatres. Discount vouchers for most of these are available in the tourist office in Javea.

The towns of Altea, Calpe, Moraira and Denia are all within easy reach, and there is a regular ferry service. The ticket office is in the port area. Inland are the picturesque villages of Guadalest and Gata.

For golfers, there are 6 golf courses within 30 minutes drive – one at Denia (La Sella), one at Javea, one at Moraira and 3 at Benidorm.

Javea has had the distinction of hosting a stage of the Tour of Spain cycling race (La Vuelta) for the last few years. There are cycle hire shops near the port should you wish to have a go yourself!

There is a go cart track and tennis club and an equestrian centre for those of an active dispostion. You can walk to the top of Montgo - but set out early to avoid the heat.
