Why Clive Young chose Margine Coperta-traversagna

We have always loved Italy and spent 2 years looking for a place to buy. We traveled all around Tuscany and Umbria and eventually decided on Casa Cipressi. Why? in our opinion it has the best of everything. An ideal country location with beautiful views, yet only 15 minutes from civilization, hypermarkets, rail and autostrada, big town shopping. Nievole, itself is only 5 minutes drive from the medieval town of Montecatini Alto and is close to many excellent restaurants and pizzeria. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking (and running and cycling). All the main attractions of Tuscany are in easy reach for day trips: Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Viareggio, Lucca, Arrezo, Cinque Terra, the Chianti Trail, Cortona, Volterra.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We knew this was the right property for us when we drove up the winding road from Nievole with olive trees on either side. Then, we turned into our drive and drove down into 5 acres of olive grove and chestnut forest until we reached the house. It has outstanding views across the valley and is totally secluded. You can hear the stream flowing, there is an abundance of wildlife (deer and the occasional wild boar). The house is a traditional tuscan farmhouse dating back to the 1800's but has all the modern comforts and fittings. Above, it is a place to relax and enjoy.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We spent Easter here, great for a short break but really we needed longer. We took a flight from Heathrow to Pisa a nice short flight. Had a quick look around PISA , not sure we needed more time there, then went onto Villa Olivo. Walked around the house to an amazing view. You look across the rolling hills and onto Montecatini Alto. I was happy to stay the whole w/e on the patio just relaxing...but we didn't. First we went to the local supermarket for food & wine; What a choice, so much fresh local food WOW!. Later that evening to a local restaurant for Pizza always a good choice in Italy. Next day we explored Lucca; a must do. Great walled city. Loads of café & restaurants and a wide range of posh & local shops. It was a bit wet( rain rain) for us so we continued the day with a drive around, so much to explore. Next day was a day in Florence ( Easter Sunday) . Obviously a fantastic place to explore and special Easter events & fireworks. Try and park up the hill in the free car park and walk down. Views and photos from here are fantastic. We didn't fit in a trip to Montecatni Terme, although we drive through here. Looks like a small town with lots to offer ;it cant be bad with so many 5 * hotels in one place. Monday morning on the patio at last. See you again soon.

Great property for family stay in rural Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We have a great time in Nievole. The house is huge (please note that there are 2 separate 'villas' inside one building). There was 4 of us and we used 2 of 3 bedrooms and still have plenty of space. There are 2 bathrooms, good size kitchen with nice table and comfortable chairs, living room and big hall. The house was brilliantly clean. All towels and beddings nice and fresh. (My wife asked me to write: "Even my picky wife absolutely love it"). We love simple design without useless knick-knacks.

It's located off road, up hill over a small village. Driving up or down was a bit challenging, especially for a passenger in an English car. On the other hand, we met a deer with a fawn on driveway next to house one evening. The house is located inside olive grove with big blackberry bushes around it. There is a space, table and chairs to eat outside.

Owner is very helpful. He responses very quick to any enquires. Clive collected a lot of information about nearby attraction (One suggestion, it would be nice to send these advices in an email as a 'welcome pack'.) He left a bottle of sparkling wine as a welcome gift.

We visited Tuscany during heatwave, so lack of A/C was something we noticed, but big fan was good help. Better anti-mosquito nets/frames in windows would also be nice.

This is beautiful area. You can easily reach Lucca, Pisa, Florence from this location. Also more local places like Monetecatini Alto and Terme are worth to visit.
