About Mr Ian and Mrs Jacqui Bould
We're originally from Solihull, and have always holidayed in and around the South Hams area, we love it here so much that we have taken early retirement and moved to this beautiful part of the world, and bought Mulberry too. It is very much a home from home for us and we hope it feels the same for our quests. We both love fishing and water sports especially water skiing and this is a fantastic place to do both. We enjoy walking with our Golden Retriever Jess in the stunning grounds at Colmer and the many coastal walks nearby.
Mr Ian and Mrs Jacqui Bould purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Mr Ian and Mrs Jacqui Bould chose North Huish
We fell in love with Mulberry and the Colmer Estate at first sight. The cottage itself is so cosy and welcoming, the surroundings and facilities are first class. As soon as you drive onto Colmer's 28 acre estate you will just fall for it's charm. There is so much to see and explore here for both adults and children.

Mulberry cottage completely exceeded our expectations, such attention to detail
A wonderful family break in lovely Mulberry cottage. What a wonderful welcome; a lovely tray of scones, jam, cookies and even a jar of sweeties plus clotted cream in the fridge and just to the side a bottle of fizz and two glasses. So much attention to detail, from the fun suitcase of dressing up cloths for children to the dog towels, blanket and toys for the dog. Lovely linen and comfy beds. The estate is a joy, not sure the lake is quite up to fishing standard but very atmospheric. We were too early for the outdoor pool but the indoor pool was lovely and warm for swimming.
The owners Jacqui and Ian have put so much thought into making this a very special holiday experience, I would be more than happy to recommend Mulberry to friends and indeed anyone who would show respect and care when staying. I certainly hope to visit again.
Pretty, cosy cottage with all amenities
Cottage was lovely, cosy and comfortable. The owner said had supplied everything a family could possibly need from travel cots and safety clips for little ones, games and dvds for older children and adults to dog blankets and toys for our furry friend.
The kitchen was equipped with dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer. Comfortable bedrooms and a lovely sitting room to spend a cosy evening relaxing and have a quiet read.
It was very clean throughout and we were welcomed with a lovely tray of goodies including scones, clotted cream, croissants and a sweetie jar. Lovely touch.
Within a short walk is the California Inn providing tasty meals and has a dog friendly area. The Spar shop / garage stocked lots of supplies and friendly service.
Wish we had booked longer and would love to own a cottage here.
Thank you for your kind words. So pleased you enjoyed your stay at Mulberry. Cheers , Ian & Jacqui.
Here we go 'round the Mulberry.....
A lovely experience only dampened by the weather! We felt right at home from the moment we entered the property extended by a lovely welcome pack catering for the entire holiday party which was a lovely touch after such a long drive. All you could require was provided for and the added bonus of having access to the indoor pool was a lifesaver for us with the two young children. Would have loved dryer weather to have been able to explore more of the Estate in its entirety but could imagine it being of outstanding beauty....hearing the sounds of wildlife chirping and rustling nearby was delightful. Would heartily recommend to those wanting an idyllic base to either relax on site or set off and explore local area....we travelled easily to Plymouth, Bigbury on Sea and Torquay and did a big shop in nearby Kingsbridge. The white folder provided handy information about the Estate and local area and, if anything, could have highlighted location of where indoor dryer/hair dryer was and how to function the lovely fireplace but that is hardly a bad thing if that is the only suggestion from us as it simply was an amazing time had by all. Home away from Home was definately the best way to describe this adventure for us! Would love to return again! Thank you Jacqui and Ian!
Thank you Kevin. Glad you had a great time at Mulberry. Sorry your weather was on the wet side but sounds like you still made the most of your stay. Hope you return at some point when the weather is better so you can take in all the estate has to offer. Thank you , Cheers. Ian & Jacqui.
A beautiful cottage
The place itself is beautiful... the acres if land surrounding the property has much to offer then meets the eye if your an outdoor person...
Indoor heated pool... a bonus and it was actually heated.. my 4 month old loved the pool..
Thank You again for a lovely weekend and see you soon x
Hi thank you for your kind words. We try to make Mulberry like a home from home for our guests. Glad you had a great time.
My partner and I stayed here for 4 days in October. The cottage is lovely very well equipped and there was even dog towels and blankets for our dog. The owners are really friendly and so helpful if you need to contact them, they left us a lovely welcoming message and a very nice tray full of goodies and a very welcomed bottle of Prosecco. The cottage is in 28 acre grounds beautifully kept complete with tennis court inside heated swimming pool and a gym, there is an outside pool but that is only open in the summer season. Just a short walk away (about 6 minutes) is a friendly pub The California Inn with good pub food and a restaurant which is dog friendly. There is also a Spar shop and garage opposite the pub which had everything we needed for our short stay. We went to Modbury a lovely little town a short drive away with some nice little tourist shops and a Co Op. We had a lovely lunch at the White Heart Inn. We took the dog for some lovely walks on Bigbury on Sea beach and Slapton Sands, although it was very windy thanks to Hurricane Brian it was very enjoyable. I would certainly stay here again, it is so quiet peaceful and relaxing.
Thank you for taking time to review Mulberry. We are so happy you had a good relaxing time at our house. We do try to make it as much as a home from home as we can. Hope to see you again with better weather we hope. Ian & Jacqui.
A real tonic. A beautiful place to unwind and relax.
Mulberry has a beautiful vibe about it. You can feel the owners love for it and their enthusiasm that you enjoy your stay as much as possible. It's a fabulous place to chill for the entire family. A quick dip before breakfast was just perfect.
The beds are so comfy and with it being so quiet, I've never slept so well. Just the tonic we needed. Thank you so much.
Thank you Paula for your kind words. It was great having you as guests and hope you return. Thank you. Ian & Jacqui
