About Andrew
My husband and I purchased this home in 2005. He grew up in Coeur d' Alene but attended school in Texas. I'm an Orange County girl, and was fortunate enough to meet somebody to bring me to this beautiful part of the country! We both are employed by a major airline and spend most of our free time using up those flight benefits! We have traveled to over 50 countries, and every time we pick up some sort of artifact to display at the vacation home!
Andrew purchased this Townhouse in 2012
Why Andrew chose Garden District
It is the perfect location. Close enough to walk to everything, but far enough away that you can sleep quietly and peacefully. Coeur d' Alene has something for everybody! You will never get bored, and if for some odd reason you do, we have plenty of ideas for you. We love to share the local secrets with our guests!
What makes this Townhouse unique
We have been to some of the world’s most famous lakes-Lake Bled of Slovenia, Lake Powell, and even the lakes of Northern Italy, and can honestly say that none compare to the beauty of Coeur d' alene. Just a short 5 min walk from the house, you will find world class swimming holes! Enjoy your trip and if there is anything we can do to help you, please let us know.

A cute older home walking distance to downtown. Worked well for a family of 4
Good experience
Uncomfortable
Stayed in the left side unit. Pleasantly surprised we did not find any mouse droppings even with the 1/2 inch gap at the front entrance and 1-4 inch gaps in the windows. Floor was warped at the front door from water coming in under the gap & extensive water damage to the bottom of the door). Air conditioning was from 2 small window units that were very old. The one in the spare bedroom made a constant electrical popping noise. The cardboard piece to seal up the rest of the vertical window gap was about 4" too short so we improvised and added our own piece. We would have just turned them off while we slept but it took all night to cool off the house with them running constant 24hrs. (Or maybe it was because the outside temp dropped from high 90's down to upper 50's). A 4 x 3 foot section of ceiling in spare room had water damage that looked like it was patched (maybe in the late 70's, & 80's, & 90's) but sinking badly and looked like it was going to fall in on the top bunk bed if touched. Master Bed sinks in the middle terribly. Sheets/blankets smelled like they were not washed. (I'm sure it was just an oversight as the owners ask "that guests not strip the beds because it confuses the cleaners"?!) Bunk beds in the spare room had very thin futon mattresses and could see & feel every bar strait through. The pull out futon in the living room was the same way. We are used to roughing-it and camping so sleeping on the ground was tempting except removing ourselves from the floor in the morning would have been a challenge as the floors were sticky dirty throughout and standing in one area shoe less for more than a second required a little more effort to remove your foot as it felt like you were melting into it. Shower curtain, window & ceiling was moldy. Toilet seat finish was worn through and looked dirty but felt clean. The unraveling lawn chair in the living room & Goodwill tags/stickers on the furniture throughout the house were a lovely touch. It was lucky we didn't need to spend any real time here as there was not enough seating for our family of 7 and the advertised washer and dryer must have been in the basement in the employee only area. On the plus side, this adventure really made our children appreciate our own tiny home even more.
Perfect for Silverwood trip!
The house was clean and in a quiet neighborhood. Excellent for a quick overnight trip to Silverwood. Close to stores and restaurants (we enjoyed breakfast at Jimmy's Down the Street!) Highly recommend!
Beware
Of the two units (side by side) we were notified upon arrival that we were to take the unit on the LEFT - I believe we booked the unit on the RIGHT.
As we arrived at the property we found that we would have to park under the sagging limbs of an overgrown tree in the yard / street. After taking the bags out of the car we found a partially muddy sidewalk to drag our bags over. Then greeted by dead plants and plaster falling off the front of the house. After opening the front door we found the rotted floor just inside the door. Plaster to the left of the fireplace was severely cracked and about to fall off. Wiring by the fireplace was definitely not to code with extension cord hanging loosely. Left immediately and notified the owner immediately. - NO refund Only the deposit was refunded. Spoke directly to the owner through HomeAway

Very underwhelming
Not our typical VRBO experience.
—When we arrived, we quickly discovered that the window blinds for our daughters’ bedroom were missing leaving a clear view of the beds from the yard/back area. We also noted that there were only 3 barstools for the “dining area;” not conducive for our family of 4. Thankfully, we were able to reach Andrew and Lindsey arrived shortly thereafter to re-hang the blinds damaged by a previous renter and she was able to return later to bring a different barstool. She was very polite and responsive to our concerns.
—As mentioned in a previous review, there is no front porch lighting, despite the fixture. The light in the entry way was also out as were 3 of the 5 bulbs in the living room lamp. This house isn’t in the nicest of neighborhoods so sending our girls out to the truck after dark was not an option. There is also no front screen door as depicted in the ad so we were unable to open up the house in evenings.
—The bathroom has been remodeled, however, the workmanship was shoddy. The house is in need of repair as there is water damage and cracks in the drywall noted throughout.
—The check-out instructions include washing your dishes and returning them to “their proper place,” however, the scrub brush and sponge provided were very dirty. We used minimal dishes for this reason.
—I was hoping to run a quick load of laundry while we were there but the smell on the stairs leading to the basement was foul (think dirty mop water) so we took a pass.
Because of the car show in town during our stay, we were limited in our options. We chose this home with optimism and had hoped to be able to enjoy a few meals there and the kitchen appeared to have everything we would need. This house has the potential to be a nice and quaint rental but as one reviewer indicated, the owners do not appear to be in the business of hospitality but, rather, to make money. The baseboards were dirty, the shower curtain was stained, and there was only 1 washcloth in the entire unit. A walk through of the home by the owners in advance should be the standard. The house (especially the towels) smelled musty. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy time spent in the house.
Great location!
Very cute duplex in a great location not far from downtown. Quiet, established neighborhood.
