A paradise in Provence, remodeled by an architect

Note of rates: prices for the period of July 7 to July 28 are for a maximum of 4 guests.

From 5 guests on, weekly rate is of 1800 euros (July 7-14) and 2800 euros (July 14 to 21 and 21-28).

If all your dreams about a retreat in Provence became reality, this is what it would look like. The bliss you feel when arriving in this peaceful property surrounded by vines, olive, pine and oak trees is truly addictive.

This original 280m2 bastide of the 19th Century lays on a 4 acre plot and has been in the owner's family for 3 generations. Looked after with love over the last decades, it was recently renovated by an architect, and extended with a modern touch, while keeping all the old features that you will love to discover.

You will enter through the antique kitchen that still looks like those you only see in old French movies. There is also a living room with an ornament fire place that has a direct access to the garden. The back of the living room has a reading area (boudoir) and a large dining room that can host an extended family. This part of the property is modern and has a window wall facing the forest of Mediterranean trees. You can access the first floor from there.

On the other side of the kitchen, you will find the donkey room which is now a lovely stone modern bathroom with a bath and a shower. There is also a separate WC (the original one) by the main house entrance.

You can access the 1st floor through the original staircase (with old tiles from Salernes, which are typical of the South of France houses). On the left side, the first double bedroom (160x200 bed) still has original whitewashed painted walls, and an en suite shower and sink. It has a direct access to a second double (140x200 cm), which was the grandparents' bedroom. You can see their portrait on the wall, and the antique furniture also belonged to them. On the other side of that bedroom, you will see the staircase that takes you to the dining room, and there is a semi- en suite modern bathroom with WC and a bath overlooking the forest (a dream!).

Back to the original staircase, which on the right side leads to a double bedroom (160x200 bed), and then to the ´loft´ area. The loft has 2 levels: 1st floor is a double (140x200) and a single bed, as well as an on suite bathroom (shower, WC, sink). Go to the lower floor by a modern staircase, and you will find the pool table as well as another single bed. The loft is ideal for a family of 4 and/for a group of teenagers who have their own space as you have a separate access to the garden from the pool room.

We have 2 cots and a high chair. All the rooms are equipped with A/C.

The property garden description is worth a book! it is an exceptional setting with no noise except from the birds, with acres of trees and grass, and some old features from the past such as the original grandparents' car and tractor. Look for the water well in the garden, you will find the picture on the listing.

The large pool (10 x 4 meter, 1.50 meter deep), protected by an alarm, is in the sun all day long, and there are many trees around to relax in the shade. Children will like the playground in the back.

There are 2 large outdoor terraces, that you will choose to use in specific times of the day, whether you prefer to stay in the sun or enjoy a bit of shade.

You will love dining outdoor and will certainly make good use of the barbecue.

A table football is located at the back of the property, as well as a boules area.

Christine and her husband, the house owners, decided to keep most of the original features to preserve the authentic style, which makes the house more interesting and has small drawbacks such as a rustic spiral staircase, or floating tiles in the bathroom.

As most of the rooms are located on the 1st Floor, access might be a bit of a challenge for infants or guests with disabilities. However, there is a full bed in the pool room, located on the ground Floor.

Our pet friends are welcome at the property, except in the bedrooms for allergy and hygiene reasons.

A beautiful house with stunning grounds and pool

Individual quirky house where the bedrooms lead one into the other but each also have separate access. There are lots of the owners personal items decorating the surfaces and also in the cupboards so the bedrooms could do with better storage. Unsuitable for toddlers or the infirm due to the original stairs being at different heights but overall a lovely and well equipped house which has been architecturally redesigned in parts. The grounds are gorgeous, particularly the up lit trees at night. A super pool too and lots of space for footballs as well as boules. The owners are really friendly and helpful.

In the heart of the green Provence, between Cotignac (2 km), Monfort (2 km), and minutes away from Correns (Brangelina land and first organic village of France). This is an historic area of France, where even Louis XIV left its mark.

You will love visiting the local vineyards, taste the products of Provence at the weekly markets (Cotignac is on Tuesday mornings), discover the historic sites and enjoy the summer festivals such as the film festival of Cotignac in August.

The village, with all shops and restaurants, is only 3 km away and there is also a supermarket at less than 2 km.

All the nearby villages offer a cultural, touristic interest and offer many activities.

Day trips car include Aix en Provence, Saint-Tropez and the sand beaches (45 min away), the HYERES islands (Port-Cros – Porquerolles – Le levant) as well as the Verdon canyons and lakes for breathtaking views, hiking, trekking and nautical sports.
