Overview

About the property

Owd Peg's Cottage is located in the heart of Bowness, 5 mins walk to the lake.

Owd Peg's is a traditional lake district cottage with a quirky modern interior. It is situated in the heart of Bowness On Windermere, one of the most popular and bustling Lake District towns. The town of Bowness On Windermere has a large variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and shops to explore. A favourite amongst visitors "The World Of Beatrix Potter" attraction is 1 minute on foot from Owd Peg's. The cottage is a short 5 minute walk from Lake Windermere itself where you can jump on one of the boats to explore the popular nearby town of Ambleside or hire a boat to explore the lake on your own. The central location makes Owd Peg's the perfect base to explore all the Lake District has to offer. The town's oldest pub "Hole In T' Wall" is a 2 minute walk from the cottage, where guests can enjoy good pub food and Cumbrian real ales.

Owd peg's is spread over x 3 floors. The GF consists of an open plan kitchen, lounge dining space with the addition of a log burner in the lounge adding to the cosy feel of the cottage. There are 3 good sized double bedrooms, 2 with ensuite shower rooms. There is also a family bathroom with shower over bath situated on the GF.

Due to it's central location there is no off road parking, however there is a permit for one car at the Rayrigg Rd car park situated 2 mins from the cottage. There is a small courtyard to the rear of the property.

Perfect Location and Cottage to Catch Up with Friends

  • 5 of 5

Three best friends, catching up in a perfect location for us all. I arrived by train from Scotland to Windermere, the other two by car (one being picked up on the way). The one car between us, was parked and never used again for the entire time we were there. The car park is so close, part of it can be seen from the back of the cottage. We each had our own double bed and a bathroom each. Perfect. The cottage is clean and well equipped. We only had one query about the back door key, which Helen soon answered for us.

Lots of different places to eat, a couple of minutes from the door, if you are feeling as lazy as we were each night. A Tesco Metro and Co-op are also very close by. One day we walked to the ferry to explore the other side of the lake which is quieter and less touristy. We would all highly recommend this, and will probably do it again. We were very lucky with the weather and also had fun hiring an electric motor boat. We enjoyed people watching from the window seats, and sitting outside nearby cafes. Although the cottage is very central, none of us were disturbed from untoward noises from outside. We all had a fabulous stay and only wish we could have stayed longer. We would all highly recommend this cottage.

Cannot wait to go back to Owd peg's cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic location with everything on your doorstep, large rooms, cosy beds, beautifully decorated.

Will definitely return!

Stairs can be a bit tricky for older people, but with the downstairs bathroom they only need to go up/ down once a day.

Fantastic

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic cottage. This time we wanted to stay in the centre so we could leave the car. Wow / it doesn't get more central! Fabulous location - couldn't ask for better.

The cottage is bigger than you think - kids loved it. Nicely decorated - modern!

Wouldn't like to cook for 6 people - the kitchen was on the small side and not really room for food however as a holiday home it was fine.

Everything you could need.

Wish the courtyard was closed off - we thought it was as we had dogs and has it wasn't we couldn't let them out. Not really an issue as just popped out for a stroll with them.

Loved people watching from the window seats!

A delightful cottage in a five star location . I'm sure in the height of the season it would be noisy and busy especially at night due to where it is, so keep in mind but was perfect for us!

Would definitely recommend for someone looking for somewhere in the centre.

Lovely

great stay in owd peg

  • 5 of 5

location, location, location! Ideally situated in Bowness with everything on your doorstep or within easy walking distance this was a great choice for the family. Plenty of room in the cottage which was very clean and ticked all of the boxes. Communication with Helen was great with nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again!
