Charming rented Triplex apartment in a small private mansion from the 18th century: in a quiet environment, a few steps away from Paris historical centre: the Marais area.
The huge carriage door opens on a blooming cobbled courtyard, direct access to the triplex apartment which represents 2 thirds of the left wing of the mansion. This rented accommodation is a 2-room apartment with a staircase dating back to the French Revolution period leading to both floors: an equipped mahogany office on the ground floor with the sleeping area in mezzanine, a lounge and a wooden and stone kitchen on the 1st floor with a view of the courtyard and of the street. A Venetian style bedroom and an old marble shower room on the 2nd floor, independent toilets a few stairs away from the bedroom where the staircase ends. Comfortably furnished rented accommodation, ancient and contemporary at the same time, high quality equipment, LCD, DVD, Internet access and unlimited telephone. Parking lot is extra. Very nice neighbourhood. Parisian monuments and sites nearby.

Betina was so kind to rent this apartment to me at a last minute notice. It was very clean, historic with modern conveniences and offered plenty of space. It is located in a residential neighborhood with lots of cafes, bakeries and markets close by. It is also very close to the Metro stop.
My husband, son and I had a lovely weekend staying at this delightful property, with convenience to Metro, quality shops, restaurants, grocery, cafes and museums. An excellent area to stay and the apartment is very well appointed. I would like to add that the owner, Bettina, was a delight to conduct business with. I highly recommend this apartment and look forward to a return visit.
Where to start... First the apartment manger failed to meet us as previously arranged. The photos do not (and cannot) show the incredible stairwell which dominates the apartment which is on 4 levels. These stairs are not safe...I fell twice. The apartment was not cleaned when we arrived, nor was it after the young man was finished cleaning. Many items wewere broken, the lighting in the bath, the stove top, etc. You cannot open the front window of the lounge which makes it a dark space with inadequate lights.
I highly recommend this apartment and neighbourhood. It is safe, quiet for the city, has lots to offer and you can settle in like you live there within a day. Easycheck in and check out. Public transportation to and from airport was inexpensive and quick. Owner was wonderful and staff great.
We just finished a lovely 8 day stay here. We are a family of 4 and were all quite comfortable. The apartment has everything you could need to live comfortably. My teenagers did not want for anything. The best thing about this apartment (beside all the amenities) is the neighbourhood and access to the metro. All of the local merchants are extremely nice and we did not eat at one restaurant that we did not like. I have to recommend the Szechwan “Deux Fois Plus Di Piment.” We ate their twice. True Szechwan can be spicy, just ask in French for little spice if you can’t handle spicy food. My 14 year old ate a whole bowl of TOFU with porc, I almost fell out of my chair. It was that good. Gustibus Italian was our second favorite, Doi Southep Thai food (English on menu), and Italian/French bar on the corner of Rue Amelot and Saint Sebastian (takes up whole corner). Just to the left of Deux Fois is a little take away Asian food that offers dumplings, meat on stick, larb, noodles and other assorted fun stuff. I suggest take out here and it is super inexpensive. If you want to cook in the apartment has all you need. The local bakery gals were very nice and worked with my children who do not speak French. I sent them down to the bakery every morning by themselves. Towards Rue Richard Lenoir is the Monop grocery. Everyone there is helpful. If that is too small there is a Carrefour City Market on Rue Amelot and Passage Saint- Pierre Amelot.
If you stay in this apartment you will never find it hard to get anywhere. With two major metro lines within 3 blocks of the apartment and great connections we got all around the city in 20 minutes. If you got to VARSAILLE check if the tunnel construction is finished or you have to go round about and walk 20 minutes from the train. It is ok if you know the route but can be time consuming if you get stuck half way and backtrack like we did.
Not only would I highly recommend this apartment but I would happily stay there again.
My only suggestion would be to bring a travel clothes line. Four towels do not fit well to dry in the bathroom. We hung up our extra towels on the line and they were dry by morning.

A very charming, romantic little flat in a historic building, The landlord's description and photos are very accurate and fairly described. The landlord was lovely and very informative; the property manager extremely responsive. We had a very early arrival from the airport and he scrambled to get us in as early as possible. The location is excellent: around the corner from Saint-Sebastien Froissart metro. Cross over Blvd Filles du Calvaire and there are great bistros bakeries and food shops on Rue de Bretangne and a super-clean self-service laundry on Filles du Calvaire around the corner from the flat. (There's a small washer-drier in the flat, but was quicker for us to just do it all at once). Kitchen is equipped with the basics. The street is quiet - very little traffic, but you'll have the windows open in summer so expect echos from by-passers and delivery trucks. The downstairs loft can be a bit stuffy - no windows, but there's a good fan that helps.
Be prepared to live like a Parisian...the flat is very small for 4; although you can sleep 5, I can't imagine how you'd all fit in a room together. We booked the flat for 5 days, and as a family of 4 -me, a tween and a teen, and a Dad who's over 6', it was cramped. To be fair, it rained every day, so normally we'd linger outside more and be less dependent on the indoors. The shower's very small and narrow, and the living room really only has seating for 2 - a small loveseat. Everyone else sits on hard-backed chairs. Kitchen is fully equipped. I'd strongly advise against renting this if you or your fellow travelers have physical limitations or are fragile. The stairs are winding and irregular (again, this is historic building). It's very easy to slip on the way down - we all did at least once. This is all illustrated in the photos - the flat is well and fairly represented in the posting. I just let my romantic inclinations override my husband and son's very American (tall, athletic) proportions. I'd be happy to rent a flat from this owner again - I believe she has others - I'd likely seek a larger flat, though.

Wander through History, along the sumptuous palaces constructed around the Place des Vosges, Place Royale at the beginning of the XVIIth century.
A fount of architecture, art history and passion. The most beautiful mansions have been constructed during the XVIIth and XVIIIth century: Hôtel de Sully, Rohan, "Picasso Museum”, "Carnavallet". Or get lost in the area of rue des Rosiers, through narrow streets with many artisans’ boutiques.
You'd like a more trendy area? Go to the picturesque La Bastille with streets with many shops, and restaurants.
You can also cross the Seine River and walk to the Ile St-Louis or the Ile de la Cité and see Notre Dame de Paris.
