Casa Bianca is an attractive, privately owned villa with swimming pool on the edge of the pretty village of A-Dos Francos on Portugal's unspoilt Silver Coast; about a 45 minute drive north of Lisbon, 25 minutes from vibrant Peniche and just 15 minutes from the Golden Eagle Golf Course.

The villa is set on the slope of the hill, has its own private swimming pool set in landscaped gardens, and overlooks the rambling vineyards, fruit orchards and woodland adjacent to the house. The peace and tranquility of the setting make this location the perfect family getaway with plenty of room and all the privacy you will need for a truly relaxing and memorable holiday. The house has no immediate neighbours and so affords perfect security and privacy with no disturbance at all. The South-East-facing wrap around covered balcony provides the most beautiful views and is an absolute delight for early risers who wish to catch the sunrise! The terrace is bathed in sunshine till late.

There is a small garden retreat to the rear of the property that is ideal for some quiet time and can be used either during the day or during the night time because it is well lit by garden lights. The private pool is on the small side and more suited to the needs of children and teens, so if having a large swimming pool is vital to your holiday, then perhaps this may not suit. The waterfall at the pool can be turned on at your request; but be aware that is can be disturbing during the night, especially if you are a light sleeper.

The house is on the edge of the village so is private and not disturbed; yet you can access a local grocery store, bank, pharmacy and two cafeteria within a 5 minute walk so this gives you the convenience of not having to trudge into the nearest town to the supermarkets if your food shopping needs are modest.

Garbage can be disposed of either at the recycyling bins outside the cafes, or a public dumpster which is located 250 yards from the villa gates.

  • The first floor has 2 double & one twin-bedded room with ample fitted wardrobes & serviced by a luxury bathroom. The master bedroom also opens out onto the sun terrace through double-glazed French windows providing perfect views. On the ground floor there is one large double bedroom with fitted wardrobe & en-suite bathroom. In addition, there is a superbly kitted out entertainment center for the whole family. All the bedrooms are equipped with Television and DVD players and a good selections of films. The twin bedroom has a PlayStation and games provided. Placing the PlayStation in this bedroom gives children their own personal space and leaves the recreation room Audio visual equipment free to watch television or a movie. We are able to provide the use of 2 foldind bed at no extra cost for use either by kids or young adults and will be placed for use in the games room.

The ground floor recreation centre opens onto the front drive. It is equipped with a 7'x4' pool table, large selection of board games, darts board, puzzles, library and children's toys. There is an impressive collection of music in the form of CDs and audio tapes. There is also a new Sony PlayStation 2 with a collection of video games including some of the latest on the market. There is a beautiful card table and four carvers provided to one side. The two large sofas can be used to enjoy some music using the stereo system. Movies can be watched on the 32' TV with cinema surround sound. This is a very comfortable space for relaxation and family fun. It also is the second lounge seating for 6 guests. Adjacent to the games room is an en-suite toilet cum shower room for the use of guests.

A Gold Star in the Silver Coast

The owner was there to meet our friends and ourselves on arrival at this beautifully furnished and comfortable villa.Casa Bianca is the best equipped and maintained villa we have stayed at. We loved relaxing sitting out on the new balcony overlooking the picture perfect location.

The owner arranged our return taxi transfer from Lisbon Airport with a very reliable and friendly driver, who also assisted with the collection of our hire car.

My husband enjoyed walking around the glorious countryside around, whilst the rest of our party found ample areas to relax and "chill out " around the villa.

We all enjoyed the friendly service, good wholesome cooking and reasonable priced meals found at the Restaurant on top of the hill at Santa Helena.

We all felt at home in Casa Bianca and thoroughly enjoyed our break. I would highly recommend this villa to friends and family.

Nice house facilities need update pool tiny pesky flies

We stayed here for two weeks. It is a lovely well built house spacious and well furnished.

The oven, fridge and washing machine all need updating they are well past their sell-by dates.

There was a problem with the electricity when it rained the outside lights caused the whole house to fuse. It was very difficult in the dark to resolve this the only solution was to alter the time clock on the lights so they came on in daylight. That all said we enjoyed watching the birds and the activity in the fields.

The downstairs space was great for us and the acoustics there were brilliant as musicians we enjoyed that.

We found the POOL a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT it was nothing more that a kids pool too small even to swim in. The photos in the adverts paint a different impression and we feel a bit deceived by this, the fountain never came on at all and we doubt it even works. We do not think the pool was cleaned while we were there despite assurances it would be.

Brendan's welcome and pre reads were extremely comprehensive and in all honesty a bit too much for us. Simple details in a book in the house usually does the trick.

I am sorry to say we will not be coming back, the dilapidated facilities, small pool and the flies, which may be because of the chicken coop (not mentioned) next door.

It is a lovely house please update it.

Owner's Response: Hi Tony. Thanks for your feedback re. your recent visit to Casa Bianca. Whilst you have stated that you overall appreciated the property for its size and furnishings, you have also raised the issue of the oven, washing machines and fridge as being outdated. Firstly, we mention in all our documentation that should you have any issues about any of the facilities at the property, your first port of call is the caretaker, who is authorised by the owner to resolve issues and replace any equipment which has malfunctioned. You could also get in touch with the person who took your booking and with whom you exchanged several emails prior to your arrival. Furthermore, you were also asked by Brendon to contact him if necessary, if you had any problems. Your complete silence had us under the impression that you were really happy with the house during your stay. As far as I am aware; the oven, fridge and washing machines were and still are in good working order and not in need of repair. If they are all working well, then we would not feel the need to replace them just because they appear old or outdated to you. You also mention about the size of the pool - A careful reading of the description on the HomeAway web page will show that we do state it is small and more suited for kids and young teens. Regarding flies - you are in a countryside location in the midst of fields and vineyards so must expect these things during warm spells. It changes from year to year but obviously we do no have control over the weather. A reading of the House rules would have warned you about this fact. A little appreciation about Brendon's help and his detailed explanation would have been more appropriate - he went into detail because you failed to print the house notes and bring any with you. We do not leave notes at the property because these are frequently updated and would render notes at the house obsolete. For you information, the pool was cleaned on Saturday 14 October 2017 at 06.00 am and if you were dissatisfied, you really should have followed our published advice and called the local caretaker who would have sorted the issue quickly. Finally, it is normal in Portugal during a storm or during a sudden shower for electrical current surge to trip the mains. If you had read the house notes you would have been aware of what to do and the location of the main switchboard. It take a few seconds to switch on again. In case of difficulty, you should have called the local caretaker

Perfekt ausgestattete Villa im Landesinneren

Die Villa liegt ruhig außerhalb der kleinen Ortschaft A-dos-Francos und ist umfangreich und mit allem Komfort eingerichtet (wie im Internet beschrieben, so haben wir es auch vorgefunden!). Pool mit Wasserfall, Balkon/Terasse, Gartenliegen, BBQ, Billard-und Spielezimmer - alles in einwandfreiem Zustand für einen entspannten Urlaub vorhanden. Sowohl die Kinder als auch die Erwachsenen fühlten sich mehr als wohl. Und tauchte mal eine Frage oder ein Problem auf, war Ben umgehend (viaEmail) mit Rat und Abhilfe zur Stelle. Das einzige, was verbessert werden könnte ist der etwas schwache WLAN Empfang in der oberen Etage. Aber es ja auch Vorteile, nicht immer online zu sein..

What a Pleasure

Casa Bianca is a wonder. It is clear that Brandon has poured all his energy and effort into making this a prize destination. We six travelers (three couples) only got to enjoy four days here, and that was much too short.

The house is located on the outskirts of the village of A Dos Francos, and very well situated for day trips to the lovely town of Obidos, and even making a short bus ride in to Lisbon for the day.

The appointments in the house are superb. Windows are well screened (a luxury not often found in our travels), and the presence of two washing machines was hugely appreciated. I kept meaning to put up a sign up sheet for use of the fitness room, but protracted glasses of good wine on the terrace or watching some of the hundreds of channels on the televisions somehow continually got in the way.

Thank you Brandon for a wonderful stay. Perhaps we will get back to see you again some time.

Ein perfekter Urlaub

Die Casa Bianca ist mit allem ausgestattet, was immer man wünschen kann - und darüber hinaus. Dies gilt für die überkomplette Küchenausrüstung, ein reichhaltiges Angebot von Kissen, Decken und Handtüchern ebenso wie für die elektronische Unterhaltung mit diversen Fernsehern und DVD-Geräten sowie zahlreiche Spielmöglichkeiten im Haus. Die Sauberkeit ist beispielhaft.

Die Villa liegt sehr ruhig etwa 10 km von Caldas da Rainha entfernt. Dort befinden sich mehrere Supermärkte, der tägliche Obst- und Gemüsemarkt und zaghlreiche ordentliche Restaurants.

In der Umgebung finden sich einige der interessantesten Sehenswürdigkeiten Portugals wie Óbidos, Tomar, Batalha, Alcobaca und die Tropfsteinhöhlen bei Leiria. Auch Mafra und Sintra sind nicht weit, Lissabon mit dem Auto in einer Stunde zu erreichen.

Wir haben den Hausbesitzer Brendon Williamson vor Ort kennengelernt. Von ihm stammen die besten Restaurant-Tips und er war stets für Nachfragen und Wünsche erreichbar. Dafür, lieber Brendon, auch an dieser Stelle noch einmal herzlichen Dank. Wir haben den Urlaub wirklich genossen und waren sicher nicht zum letzten Mal in Portugal.

Casa Bianca is located 55 mins north of Lisbon Airport & 3 miles from the motorway A15 (Caldas da Rainha - Santarem). The house is on the edge of the village of A dos Francos & is within easy reach of major attractions, surf camps, supermarkets, Golf resorts & golden sandy beaches. There are a number of open air markets selling a range of goods including fresh produce at really amazing prices. Caldas da Rainha, Foz de Arelho and Obidos which are approximately 10 - 12 miles away by car have a selection of DIY stores, excellent restaurants with international cuisine. In the immediate vicinity of the villa, you can also find a few good restaurants who specialise in Portuguese fare but most especially in seafood dishes. There is a bank, three cafe-bars, a mini market and a few other shops just 300 metres away from the house. The nearest beaches at Foz are spectacular and have all the facilities you would expect to find at a top location by the sea.

Other Activities: The town of Bombarral, located to the southeast of A dos Francos has exciting Go Karting facilities
