About the property

Completely updated 2 bedroom home with pool, bikes & Wi-Fi.

To all of our guests and friends who have reached out to us during Hurricane Irma - THANK YOU. Our bungalow made it through the storm, and the clean up is done. Our pool is sparkling clean, and we've planted new trees and shrubs. While the Keys still have a long way to go to be fully recovered, it feels very normal here; as special as always.

With warm regards,

Bill & Maggie

This adorable vacation home, renovated in 2015, is clean and modern, and in the perfect location to experience everything that the Florida Keys has to offer. Fishing, diving, biking, boating, shopping and a multitude of dining options just to name a few. We have prepared an extensive listing of area restaurants and activities for our guests to enjoy.

This little piece of paradise is located on Islamorada's southernmost of four Islands called Lower Matecumbe Key, just on the outskirts of the main village of Islamorada. When you cross the Tea Table Key bridge, you'll leave commerce behind and experience that first real tropical 'Keys' feel. Bright blue skies surrounded by stunning blue-green water on both sides of the road, with palm trees and sea birds everywhere you look. The air is warm, and at night, with so little man-made light, the stars seem to sparkle brighter than anywhere else on earth. It is truly a special place to experience.

Nestled among mature palms, 'Bungalow Blue' is a 525 square ft stand-alone condo that has been completely updated, and awaits your arrival. Best suited for one couple or two, this home has new furniture, stainless appliances, granite counter tops, new wood floors, a brand new washer/dryer, new a/c unit, and two bedrooms, each with very comfortable queen-sized beds and flat screen TVs.

The house is in a private association of only 7 tropical villas where the grounds are impeccably maintained. Enjoy at no added charge: a sparkling private pool (shared by only 6 other condos) your own gas grill, 2 beach cruiser bicycles, free Wi-Fi, and a private boat ramp. Your rental agreement also gives you free access to Founders Park with a private beach, tennis courts, Olympic sized pool and more..

This home is located on a quiet street in a peaceful neighborhood where you can rest comfortably and quietly after a long day of Islamorada adventures. If you prefer clean and quiet over big and busy, you are certain to love this little place, and you might just find it hard to leave!

Sorry, no pets.

(from the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce)

Islamorada is known as the 'Sportfishing Capital of the World' and rumor has it that we also host a larger fishing fleet per square mile than anywhere else in the world. This perfect family vacation destination offers something to do in, under, above or near the water 24 hours a day. The aqua blue waters surrounding our village of islands provide fantastic views from every bridge and waterfront resort, restaurant and home.

The name Islamorada is frequently translated from Spanish as 'purple isles.'

In addition to fishing, the Atlantic Ocean and Florida Bay offer adventures in diving, snorkeling, para sailing, wind-surfing, kayaking, boat racing and a variety of nature excursions like hand-feeding giant silver tarpon. Ever since the days of famous authors and sportsmen like Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey, our area has attracted outdoor competitors -- and every month offers a wide range of fishing tournaments, races and other sporting challenges.

The four islands of Islamorada also offer numerous tranquil spots to relax under the sun's glorious golden rays. Enjoy a beachfront cocktail, sunset cruise or spend the day shopping at one of the areas unique shops or galleries. Once you are relaxed, the finest in dining awaits to satisfy the tastes of every member of your family.

With an area history spanning more than 3,000 years and an active chamber with over 500 memberships, Islamorada is the premier location for inquisitive visitors and commerce to merge.

About Bill Adams

We are both natives of Connecticut where we currently live, and we love to spend time in the Florida Keys!

Bill Adams purchased this house in 2014

Why Bill Adams chose Islamorada

Buying this property was a dream come true for us. The Florida Keys is a very special place for it's tropical air and laid back vibe. Time slips away when we're here as we forget about the business of our lives and just relax to the pace of island time. Bungalow Blue may seem a bit small to some, but it has everything we need, and doesn't lack a thing. After all, the best thing about the Keys is being outside enjoying the weather. We feel very fortunate to be the owners of this special place, and are happy to be able to share it with our guests.

What makes this house unique

For us, Islamorada is truly the best of all the keys. The fishing is exceptional, the shallow water kayaking is off the chart, walking & biking is safe, there are more dining and shopping options here than in the lower keys, and it's a pleasant ride from the airports of Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Bill,

We just wanted you both to know that we had a great time in the keys at your place. It was our 20th anniversary get away. Bungalow Blue was perfect. You all have a really enjoyable place. Thank you for making it available to us.

Perfect Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Bugalow Blue! Bill and Maggie were there for anything we needed but they did such a great job preparing us and having resources in the bungalow that we didn’t need a thing. Very nice neighbors and the pool was all ours. We spent one night away at Key West and we couldn’t wait to get back to the bugalow. We even had a full thanksgiving meal with the fully equipped kitchen. The only downside to all the memories we made was the “no-see-ums” were extremely attracted to me. Even with that I found repellent to detour them in the bugalow. We look forward through coming back again. Thanks Bill and Maggie!

Had a good time

Property was very nice and clean. The pool might be shared, but we were the only ones in it. Good location in the Keys, nice and centralized. Would recommend.

Great little cottage, perfect for a couple.

Nice location, pool just next door, and beach bikes to ride a short distance to Robbie's. Very comfortable and owners took the time to label as much as possible in the house to make things easy. Has all the comforts of home. We are divers and it's a very short drive to Key Dives. Hooks to hang things outside to dry are a nice touch. Definitely recommend.

Nice but not 5 star

  • 3 of 5

I booked this accommodation after reading others reviews and whilst I do agree with a lot of what was mentioned there are a few things I would point out. The positives are the house is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The negatives for us were that the air conditioning is really loud so we decided to sleep in the front bedroom furthest away from the unit, however being a slightly smaller bedroom I found that I stubbed my toes every time I got up to use the bathroom on the chest of drawers so we decided to move into the bigger bedroom and use the front as a dressing room. The bigger bedroom however was so noisy - you have the busy main road directly behind and the air conditioning banging and blasting all night so we didn't find it restful at all. Also the bathroom - or should I say shower room is tiny. I have never stayed anywhere with such a tiny main bathroom, hence the need to use the front bedroom as a dressing room. This was manageable for two people staying but would be inconvenient if both bedrooms were in use. Finally to the pool- yes you do have it to yourself for most of the time but there doesn't seem to be much pool maintenance so you have to scoop out the debris yourself if you are going to use it. I also said 'most of the time' as we did encounter a very dubious and rather intimidating neighbour one afternoon who seemed intent on making us feel so uncomfortable that we would leave ie blasting The Grateful Dead from his music player which he placed beside us, then 'bombing' into the pool splashing our stuff then saying "I hope I'm not disturbing you guys" which he clearly knew he was. Another tiny criticism is that there is no kettle or wine glasses - not everyone drinks coffee. Overall for the money and minus the one bad neighbour encounter it was decent value but for us we're not planning to return.

Owner's Response: We encourage all of our guests to post reviews, and we make it very clear that we are available 24/7 should any situation come up that needs our attention. We are very sad to read this 3 star review, and we wish there was an opportunity to assist during their stay, but this is the very first time we heard from this guest. To be clear - this is a small property, as we have advertised. It is a 525 square ft. bungalow as is written in the description, and so the rooms are small. We cannot change that, and we do our best to make sure the accommodations are clean, and supplied with everything one might need while visiting the Keys. The brand new high end air conditioning unit (Carrier) was installed just 6 months ago and no one has mentioned that it makes any noise. We will look into this. We think we have done a nice job of stocking our kitchen with what everyone needs, but this is the first request for a kettle. Actually it is not a request for a kettle but a complaint that there wasn't one in the house. If it were a request, we would have supplied it. Unless they went missing, there are 4 wine glasses in our kitchen. It is possible that this guest didn't recognize them, as they are stemless (the ones with stems were routinely being broken). Regarding the pool - this is a private pool for seven condos and we have a pool service come once a week for cleaning. This is not a big resort with a daily pool service. It is a very laid back neighborly situation and there is a skimmer for anyone wanting to clear the debris before swimming. The FL Keys is a chain of tiny islands surrounded by the sea, and any time the wind blows, tree debris will find it's way into the pool. We are not really sure how to respond the the "music at the pool" comment. It is a common area shared by the owners and guests of the seven units. This is a situation that can happen just about anywhere, and we're happy the other days were peaceful. We're sorry our little bungalow didn't meet the expectations of this guest. Since there was no communication, we can only surmise that this guest may have expected something other than what we have to offer. Bill & Maggie
