About the property

2 bedroom character cottage with rural views, great base for touring

Welcome to Folly Cottage, named after a tall folly on the hill behind the cottage. It's a homely 18th century cottage with modern amenties, perfect for family holidays in the East Neuk. New gas central heating and a woodburning stove have just been installed to make it very cosy indeed. Very comfortable sitting room, cosy kitchen diner, one double bedroom, one twin and one fold out sofa bed. Lovely sun trap garden, views over fields to rear. Great base for exploring the East Neuk, close to beaches, golf courses, country walks, fine restaurants, farm shops, St Andrews just 15 minutes away. Trips to the Highlands, Perthshire, Edinburgh all easy from here.

There's so much going on in the East Neuk especially over the summer in 2018. For music lovers there's the East Neuk music festival 27 June to 1 July; Crail Festival in June; the Pittenweem Arts Festival 4-12th August, St Monans Sea Queen Day in June, Anstruther Muster in May, Elie Fayre Day in July. For food lovers there's Ardross Farm Shop just a few miles away, homemade chocolates at the Cocoa Tree in Piitenweem, Barnett's artisan bread in the local bakeries, Crail food festival in June, fresh and smoked fish from St Monans, and Balgove Farm Shop on the edge of St Andrews. There's something for everyone.

Lovely spacious cottage very comfortable. Owner a delight.

  • 4 of 5

Cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. Handy corner shop, pub and petrol station. Only downside was the garden, it was very overgrown and we were unable to use it. However it wouldn’t stop me booking another holiday there.

It had everything that was required. Good size of rooms. Enjoyed our stay. Managed to visit areas we had not been to in a very long time. Fife is a beautiful area to holiday in.

A very clean and comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time touring Scotland and we managed to visit St Andrews, Stirling, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. We liked the coast and enjoyed visiting Elie, Anstruther and Crail. The cottage was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the fresh eggs, pint of milk, tea and coffee when we arrived in the evening after a long journey from Wales. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, the bathroom was well laid out with plenty of storage. The towels provided were soft and thick. I really liked the bed linen too. Where did you get the double set from please? (I want one!) We saw loads of sparrows in the garden and there was a nest on the wall!

You do hear traffic as the cottage is on a busy road and unfortunately many drivers ignore the 20 mph speed limit but as we were out much of the time it didn’t affect us much.

We would visit again and would recommend it to others as it was great value for money and a good base to see many parts of Scotland.

Many thanks! Diolch yn fawr!
