Beautiful secluded holiday accommodation on Cornwall's stunning north coast - The Barn

Bedrooms 3
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

The Barn

The Barn, classic and Cornish, sits surrounded by fields and its garden and has been renovated in a simple contemporary style using oak and slate. A huge open plan living space beneath the original beams centres around the farmhouse table that separates a comfortable living space with an open log fire (free logs) from the Aga-warmed kitchen. The smooth slate heated flags are flooded with light from large French windows that all open on to the terrace and private garden.

The open staircase leads to three bedrooms – oak floors, rafters, stone walls – lightly furnished in contemporary country style. One, the master bedroom with en-suite shower room, has a striking glass door leading to the old loading ramp while the "children's room" with bunk beds and singles is a great hang-out. Another double bedroom shares a bathroom with the children's room.

About the property

Tregerrin Barns

Tregerrin Barns are a great hideaway in idyllic rural isolation close to the beach at Trevone and Padstow (both walking distance) yet far enough away for peaceful seclusion. They are a wonderful place for family holidays throughout the year, or for a quiet week or weekend away from it all.

Adjacent to the car park at the private entranceway is a large steel agricultural barn that has football goals, basketball and table tennis. Perfect for wet days and a traditional haunt for our children over the years.

Both The Barn and The Lynhay are available together or separately, but both have privacy and their own garden.

About Vivien Taylor

We developed these barns in 2004 and we spend a great deal of our family lives there. Our family think of Tregerrin as our "spiritual" home, and it was also the first of 14 individual homes we have since completed from Cornish stone barns. They’re a bit addictive!

Vivien Taylor purchased this barn in 2003

Why Vivien Taylor chose Padstow

The Times once described this place as the "Hamlet of Tregerrin" in a walking review but there are only 3 properties here, the other being a small cottage further up the track. This place feels so peaceful, where the only passers by are walkers, and at night only the Barn and Tawny owls and the distant crash of the surf intrude. It's magical.

What makes this barn unique

I suppose that the position of Tregerrin is it's greatest asset. A short walk to Trevone beach, but far enough away from it to feel secluded; a lovely walk into Padstow across the fields, so you can leave you car behind; great walking along the coast either west to all the easily reached beaches close by-Harlyn, Constantine, Booby's, or east around the headland to Padstow and the estuary; or the sense of freedom children have at Tregerrin; and.... well I could go on!

Great location and charm

  • 5 of 5

Loved what the barn offered for our family stay.

Children had plenty of room to play and explore. Location was fantastic! Kitchen was well equipped and accommodated 8 well. Beds we comfortable, linens nice. Wish towels were provided as were traveling from USA, but we managed. Aga stove was unique to us. We were in Cornwall when weather was sunny and warm, Aga made it a bit warm, though I can see it’s benefits year round for the typical chilly weather. Loved our stay!

Great memories. Hosts were excellent!

Stunning barn conversion

  • 5 of 5

Everything from the first communication with the owners was beyond our expectations. The Barn itself was beautiful, stylish, clean with all facilities that a family of 5 might need. Suggestions for activities and restaurants were welcomed and used a lot! The Barn is situated just outside Trevone with a short walk across fields to get to the beach. There is so much to see and do with The Barn being the perfect place to relax, eat and play. We will definitely return and may do with friends so will take advantage of The Lynhay too.

Wonderful barn conversion in stunning location!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the Lynhay; it's just such a special place! In fact, rather selfishly, I don't want too many people to know about it as it will become too popular :( Anyway... The barn conversion is so tastefully done with exposed slate, an Aga and lovely squashy settees...all the kitchen equipment you could ask for and so much style! Lovely bedrooms, linen, and all spotlessly clean. We just loved it and felt so at home. As if you need more there is a steel barn at the top of the property with activities and games for the children, so useful on wet days. The views and walks from the barns are truly wonderful; walk to Trevone beach in one direction, or over the fields into Padstow in the other. Headland walks, surfing, rock pooling all just there on the doorstep. Vivienne was lovely to deal with and nothing too much trouble! If you need space for a larger group there is a bigger barn on the same property - so could be perfect to be together- but apart.

Can't wait to go back!!

Stayed here for memorable Christmas week, no need to light fire as underfloor heating and Aga are fab. Loved Aga cooking. Well equipped stunning stone barn conversion. Amazing walks direct from barn or 5 mins in car to Padstow. My boys loved play barn. Would love to come back

Beautiful seclusion yet close to stunning beaches

  • 5 of 5

When you travel along the track from the Padstow Farm shop through fields you do not know quite what to expect but what a hidden gem. At last something beautiful to rent other than Cornish bungalows and you can walk to Trevone beach easily and into Padstow in 25 minutes (2 mins by car) .

Great for families as a car free zone. What a find

Stunning property with luxury touches

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the house over Easter 2016.

The barn is beautifully finished to a very high standard. It's a great place to stay for a group of friends or a large family.

Nice touches like the open fire and Aga (I really want one now!) really make it a warm and welcoming place after a walk on the beach or a trip into Padstow (both are close enough to walk). The bedrooms are big and bright and are again decorated to a high standard. The outside space and BBQ would be incredible in the summer too.

It was a real pleasure to stay and I'd love to go back. If this barn is available for the dates you want you should just book it, you really won't regret it.
