2 bedroom log cabin in peaceful woodland setting.
About Philip Hume
Philip and Jenny live in the house near to The Studio, so are on hand to help with any queries or advice on places to visit. Philip has researched, written and published a book on aspects of the history of the area. We moved to the area at the end of 2014 and are thoroughly enjoying exploring this beautiful and varied place. Liz is Philip and Jenny's daughter and has recently moved to the area with her husband (Ian) and young son (Alex). They also love the beautiful countryside and peace and quiet, especially with such easy access to Ludlow and plenty of activities to do with Alex.
Philip Hume purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Philip Hume chose Ludlow
We immediately fell in love with the secluded, peaceful, location of the property surrounded by woodland and birdsong. The countryside is beautiful, with a host of varied walking landscapes, fascinating historic remains and family visitor attractions. It offers the best of both worlds - rural tranquility with quick access to local market towns. Ludlow is a wonderful, lively place where there always seems to be something going on!
What makes this Cabin unique
We converted 'The Studio' from a painter's studio (hence the name!) into the holiday cottage as it is now. In doing so, we were seeking to maintain the lovely light that the artist had needed for his work and feel that we have succeeded in doing so. In order to do this, we have placed the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area upstairs.

Peaceful and relaxing
Unlike many holiday lets this accommodation had lots of food goods and even shampoo/conditioner remaining in bathroom, which was very impressive for the price charged.
It had a lot of lovely extra features that others lack - CDs/Books/DVDs - and the decking area is private and comfortable. The owners are friendly but not intrusive and even responded to any requests with enthusiasm. Cant fault the place! Well a hot tub would make it amazing but understandably maybe not an option!
Brilliant location for a mini break , to get away from the city life .
Beautiful location , the studio lodge is very authentic, excellent welcome when we arrived , fresh bread, cakes, milk, eggs (from there very own hens) & cheese in the fridge lovely touch . There was also lots of food and general house hold items in the cupboards if you had forgotten anything . The view from the balcony area was fantastic, we were also greeted on the evening by the hens who came up the stairs to say hello . Unfortunately the weather let us down as we would have explored a lot of the walks around the area . Hopefully next time the weather will be brighter . Joe & Jo
A smashing find.....
We really enjoyed our short stay at 'The Studio' and the warm welcome from the family (Hosts) It was lovely also to be greeted and kept company by the chickens, ducks and sheep. Thank you All for the hospitality and keep up the very valued hard work.....
A new way to spell idyllic - The Studio. Total peace and quiet, the only noisy neighbours being the ducks, sheep, and of course the surround sound birdsong.
A small, well equipped, upside down house with a sun trap of a decking area. Lovely home made bread and cake, fresh eggs, butter and some other foody essentials on arrival.
We very much enjoyed our stay (2 humans and 1dog) Feel so so so relaxed. Chilling to a whole new level !
Relaxing break close to nature
We felt at home here straight away. Great treats on arrival and toys and game to keep the kids ( and us) amused when we weren't outside enjoying the great surroundings. Lots of games of hide and seek and sardines were played!
Really loved the outside seating - great to be surrounded by nature whilst reading/ drinking wine/ playing cards. My kids were also really inspired by the 'greenness' of this property - they're now planning on composting back home!. We hope to return.
Ideal, in every sense of the word. Absolutely nothing to complain about.
The Studio was lovely and clean and very well appointed. A goody bag of groceries and home made baking, including a loaf of bread, welcomed us.
The resident animals are a delight, the hens roam freely, so dogs need to be on a lead when they get out of the car.
There is absolutely no sense of being "kept an eye on" by the owner who lives on site. You are free to wander the beautiful creative garden in its wonderful woodland setting.
This was our second visit and we have already booked next year. It is an utter haven, owned and run by very nice people.
I recommend it without reservation except the hope that it will not be already snapped up when l come to book it in the future.
Set in woodland close to many walking trails in the heart of Mortimer Country, The Studio gives access to miles of forest and open countryside including the famous Shropshire Hills.
It is only ten minutes from historic Ludlow with its medieval castle, excellent food outlets and many festivals.
Lying in 'the Welsh Marches', the area has numerous castles, churches and historic houses - including two National Trust properties, five castles, and twelve or more historic churches all within 15 minutes drive.
There are many beautiful gardens to be visited and enjoyed.
In addition, the black and white villages of Herefordshire are only a short distance away. The historic city of Hereford lies half an hour away.
Local traditions are strongly maintained in the area with Morris dancing, wassailing and other rural spectacles still to be enjoyed.
Hay on Wye with its literary festival, the glories of Chirk castle, the mountains of central Wales, Worcester and the Malvern Hills, the Seven Valley Railway, the West Midlands Safari Park, the World Heritage Site of Iron Bridge Gorge, historic Shrewsbury are all no more than an hours drive away.
