About Philip Hume
Philip and Jenny live in the main house near to The Studio, so are on hand to help with any queries or advice on places to visit. Philip has researched, written and published a book on aspects of the history of the area. We moved to the area at the end of 2014 and are thoroughly enjoying exploring this beautiful and varied place.
Philip Hume purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Philip Hume chose Ludlow
We immediately fell in love with the secluded, peaceful, location of the property surrounded by woodland and birdsong. The countryside is beautiful, with a host of varied walking landscapes, fascinating historic remains and family visitor attractions. It offers the best of both worlds - rural tranquility with quick access to local market towns. Ludlow is a wonderful, lively place where there always seems to be something going on!
What makes this Cabin unique
We converted 'The Studio' from a painter's studio (hence the name!) into the holiday cottage as it is now. In doing so, we were seeking to maintain the lovely light that the artist had needed for his work and feel that we have succeeded in doing so. In order to do this, we have placed the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living area upstairs.

A fantastic place to stay.... A real gem!
The Studio is fantastic. There's is fresh bread, milk, eggs etc provided on arrival. Great idea to have some food in the kitchen already to use on first day. You can tell Phillip and his family have put a lot of thought into the place, as it has everything you would ever want re cooking, things to do, maps for walks, books, DVDs, board games. Two really good size bedrooms, bathroom and en-suite. It's honestly unlike any log cabin type accommodation, we've been too.... it's a home from home. Really quiet area, so perfect for seeing wildlife, but close enough to go to places near Ludlow. Hosts are very helpful. Everything is A* and to a very high standard. Keep up the good work and excellent service. You might not have seen the last of us yet ☺. Cheers. Ste, Emma and kids.
Peaceful and Tranquil
Such a wonderful little studio for up to 5 people, we were only a 2 and a dog so had lots of room and thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay over Christmas. Philip and Liz greeted us when we had settled in, and they were to hand if we needed which was nice to know but the space is so very well kitted out we did not need to bother them over the holidays. There are plenty of activities in the studio, games to play, books to read, or to simply do some bird watching. We ventured into Ludlow and the surrounding areas to walk the dog and get some fresh air, there are lots of walks with maps in the studio should you need them.
All in all a lovely place to stay and one we would return to see again.
We have had a wonderful break. The studio is perfect. Beautiful location. Perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. Peaceful & very cosy. The hosts are very welcoming & they made our stay very special.
