I have been a REALTOR for the past 25 years and 2 of my kids live in Arizona ( plus my Grandchild born December 2014. This is the perfect second home for us and we decided to share it with others. We hope that you will enjoy your stay.
Sue Vaterlaus purchased this house in 2014
This is probably the most unique property you will find. Private yet close to all activities.
Hear the coyotes at night and watch the sparking city lights and see the beautiful mountains.
If you want to stay at a unique & secluded property, this is the place for you. We enjoyed the fire pit and watching all the quails, rabbits & hummingbirds. The owner is great to work with. The home has lots of space and everything you need.
We enjoyed our stay at the dome. It was a unique experience. The view of the city skyline in the evening is beautiful. The pool table was a hit. Sitting outside in the evening was relaxing. We came down to AZ for Spring training and this was a good location for the various stadiums. Thank you!
I brought my family of 7 to Phoenix for Spring Training and stayed in Sue's Dome. It was very enjoyable and spacious. Although it seemed remote, it was very close to everything we needed including supermarkets and restaurants. We loved the mountain scenery and took a lot of pictures in the yard with the cactus and mountains as backdrops. I would recommend it for large families on a budget. The home was well appointed and we loved the pool table and cable TV in all of the bedrooms. The only issue we had was arriving around 6:00pm and the cleaning lady was still working on the house from the prior guests, but we went grocery shopping while she finished and she did a nice job. I was also prepared from prior posts that mentioned the woodpecker going at the metal chimney pipe every morning. It was startlingly loud, but only lasted for a minute or so. Sue was great to work with from booking the reservation until the end of the rental. Thanks for letting us stay at your Dome.
The house and surroundings were very nice, rustic and well kept. I'll get the negatives over with first. We were unable to get into the house until three hours after our permitted arrival time because the cleaning crew had just started. We had our dogs along, so we couldn't just leave them and head out for dinner, so we had to sit around for those three hours and wait. The other negative is that the air conditioner made a very loud, terrible racket when it both came on and turned off making for a difficult night's sleep. Don't rely on GPS the first time in, follow her directions. Also get ready for a very bumpy ride in and out.
The positives: The house was comfortable and clean (we know this firsthand) with views of the mountains, the city and colorful sunsets from the upstairs balcony. Lots of big screen TVs that we never turned on (our preference) and the internet service was excellent. Even though it was a drive to get anywhere, the location in the hills was worth it.
Two of my friends and I stayed at the dome for 4 days while we attended some spring training games. It was by all accounts great. Nice to get home to the dome after a hot day in the sun at the ballpark. A quick shower, cool drink, a relaxing evening grilling steaks and watching the desert evening sunset set us up for the next day to do it again. The dome was clean, nice, affordable, unique and fun. We all enjoyed watching the quail, doves, rabbits and hummingbirds. peace and quiet. I look forward to staying there again. Thanks!
The dome home was great. Just far enough out of the city to enjoy. Nice views of the city and surrounding mountains. We had a nice time playing pool and ping-pong and enjoying the peace and quiet.
