Two beautifully restored historic properties located in a secluded Courtyard

The property is reached via a long driveway that runs in from the Royal Canal.

The secluded courtyard with its shady pergola is perfect for summer Barbeques and entertaining. Surrounding buildings originally served as the coaching stables for Luttrellstown Castle Estate, and adjoin the renown Beech park walled gardens, which were developed by David Shackleton in the mid 20th Century, and are due to re-open to the public in 2016.

About Ethna Dorman

I am a retired widow who is a Lover of Philsophy, Plato studies and Sanscrit. I enjoy entertaining and meeting with friends. I have lovingly restored this property to which I brought my family back from America.The cottage in which I currently live in is also located in the courtyard in which the Carriage House and the Garden Cottage reside.

Especially with the year that is in it I am looking forward very much to welcoming our compatriots and visitors to Ireland to our centenary celebrations.

I am a proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren with 2 more on the way !

Why Ethna Dorman chose Clonsilla

I fell in love with this property due to it's unique heritage (serving as stables for Luttrellstown Castle in the 1700's) and Irish style and it's rural location whilst still being in very close proximity to Dublin City. Over the years I have looked after 4 generations of my family here and developed the property. My property has been used for my own family weddings and funerals and entertaining friends at Christmas and special birthday celebrations. Although there has been much land development in the area my property has that much sought after secluded rural setting far from the road via a long driveway from the Royal Canal and nestled in behind the rustling trees of Beech Park. I am proud of this beautiful property, it's heritage and look forward to sharing it's splendor with my guests.

What makes this house unique

Having returned from America after many years I was instantly enchanted by the secluded cobblestone courtyard and the tall trees which framed this property. I am delighted to say that it's unique essence has never been disturbed since I first saw it in 1999.

This is the type of property that makes me sure I will come back. Beautiful, private and very well built. Well designed and very well appointed, the owner made sure we were provided for. Her helper, Phil, went way above and beyond to keep us comfortable. We would LOVE to return.

An amazing charming Irish cottage.

What a wonderful stay! My family and I stayed for 4 nights over New Year’s Eve and we all fell in love with the place. We were met by Phil who showed us round and made sure we had all we needed. The bedrooms were decorated beautifullly and the bathrooms were modern and with powerful showers.

The living room and kitchen held the real charm of the place, with many original features from the stables but updated and modernised tastefully keeping its character. It was lovely in the evenings to but the log burner on in the sitting room and relax and unwind.

A wonderful place and would love to stay again!

Warm and welcoming home. Very confortable beds in both bedrooms. Modern bathrooms. Very clean accommodations. Host was lovely and very welcoming. Highly recommend.

The Carriage House

We arrived very early in the morning and Ethna was there to greet us. The home is equipped with everything you will need to make your stay extremely comfortable. With the old charm still in tack, the home has been remodled to accomodate all your needs. Basic shopping is about a twenty minute walk, but a taxi can take you to the larger shopping areas in just a few minutes and runs about 10 Euros. The Carriage House is in a secluded area away from the city, but with just a short walk to the train station you can be in the center of Dublin in 20 minutes. Trains run about every half hour, and I would suggest getting a leap card if you plan on staying an extended amount of time. Dublin is a fantastic city to visit and the history and culture is amazing. People are so friendly and willing to help you get around if you have any questions. I highly recommend staying here as it truly is a "Dream come true". Thank you so much Ethna for making our vacation so pleasent!

Wonderful four days in Clonsilla - Dublin

This was the best of our VRBO stays in the UK. Upon arrival, Ethna was waiting for us and gave us the tour of the property. The carriage house is perfectly insulated, with plenty of modern comforts while retaining that cozy, rustic feel. Incredibly spacious, quiet, comfortable, clean, etc. Better than expected. Would be happy to come back and just stay for a week just enjoying the house.

The nearest shops are in Clonsilla Village only a half a kilometre away, with the expansive Blanchardstown Centre just past them.

Trains to Dublin Connolly Street run from the station at the end of the driveway about every 15 minutes in rush hour, and less frequently throughout the day.

The Phoenix Park is very close and well worth a visit. One of Europe’s largest city parks, it is home to a herd of some 500 Fallow Deer. A number of significant buildings share the park including Farmleigh House and the home of the Irish President, Aras an Uachtarain, where Winston Churchill lived his early childhood. Dublin Zoo occupies 28 hectares of the park and is a major attraction for visitors and Dubliners alike.
