About Rosana Sorensen

My husband and I grew up in the beautiful Napa Valley in northern California and moved to Utah in 1991. We have 5 children and 4 beautiful grandchildren and we love spending time together creating stronger bonds and cherished memories.

We fell in love with renovating old homes after we purchased a run down bungalow on the Provo river and spent a couple years turning it into the charming "Springside Cottage". Then we set our sights on St. George. We, like you, wanted a large place to have all our children, grandchildren and friends with us, yet have privacy, convenience, and our own bathroom. So now we are owners of the historic Whitehead Home in St. George. We look forward to making it a memorable place for other families and friend groups to enjoy. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

Rosana Sorensen purchased this house in 2014

Why Rosana Sorensen chose Saint George

Don't you just love the charm of old homes? We do too! We choose this property because of it's historic value and its proximity to downtown. Whitehead Home has the best location possible. This is in the 'Town Square' of St George. Within 4 blocks you can find 10 restaurants, galleries, historic sights, antique shops, 4 banks, ATMs, parks, museums, hair salons, library, and plenty of shopping. So much to explore just in the neighborhood. St. George has so much to offer, yet still has the feeling of a smaller town. St. George has so much to offer, yet still has the feeling of a smaller town. And there is so much to do in the area. You can travel a close distance to Zion's National Park, Snow Canyon, Tuacahn Outdoor Theater, 12 golf courses in the area, swimming parks and so much more. The Whitehead Home is also on the St George Ironman 70.3 course, Tour de St. George course, and is 2 blocks from the marathon course. Because of the beautiful weather there is always something going on in St. George from farmers markets to nighttime music festivals.

The home has undergone a remodel, but we've keeping the historical integrity while adding new and modern conveniences. Necessities like double ovens, microwave, extra fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and internet to name a few.

What makes this house unique

This home was built in 1881 and has a sweet & sad little love story at it's beginning, yet it has been a home that has created many happy and wonderful memories for families across the decades. It has all the modern convenances to help you and your group continue to make memories. You'll be cooking for a large group and the kitchen has a stainless steel kitchenaid 6-burner cooktop and hood fan, new double wall ovens, microwave and dishwasher and other small kitchen appliances to help do the job. We've continue to update, decorate and add furniture and other items to make your stay easy, comfortable, and special. This property oozes character and is a great gathering place for up to 21 people. Perfect for family reunions, corporate retreats, sporting events, theater events, or home base as you discover the beautiful hiking & biking, golfing, day spas and shopping in St. George. It's located within tree lined walking distance of wonderful restaurants, antique shops, galleries, historic sights, summer outdoor market, and a splashed and park for the children. It's the best possible "base" to have a walking adventure around town or a short driving adventure to the beauties, fun, entertainment, and outdoor activities in the area.

We have tried hard to make the home comfortable for adults with provided amenities (Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash and more), a nicely stock kitchen and "Do Not Disturb" signs for each door, for teens wifi, charging stations in every room, Wii games, large TV's, for the children a toy box, a and "Kids Nook" for creativity and reading, and for the family board games, puzzles, DVD's, and large rooms to gather together. It's tastefully decorated and a calming place to be. We know your love the place as we do.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Tom Barnes family, of Gilbert, AZ enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Whitehead home in St George, UT! The home has some wonderful "old bones" and they tell a story rich in local history. The home is situated very well in St George, close to the historical district and boutique shops. The home has been modernized very well but at the same time it keeps its historical charm. The rooms were plenty and comfortable. Eating accommodations were wonderful! Plenty of space to eat and converse. The children's toy basket was a hit for our grandchildren who stayed with us. We truly loved the house and our stay. Rosana goes out of her way to make sure your stay is fantastic! Great communication and directions. While in St George we took in some local hiking, bike trails, Zion National Park, local shopping, and even a dinosaur museum! A great home base for your family during your stay in southern Utah!

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

The Whitehead Home surpassed our dream of a home away from home. Each of the 7 couples had our own spacious spaces, yet we were all together in one beautiful residence with plenty of areas for grand children of all ages to interact. We made wonderful new memories and loved our time together in this lovely historic house.

A welcoming home for our large family.

  • 4 of 5

Owners / managers were encouragingly kind and helpful. There was adequate space and facilities in every way except that one of the seven bedrooms did not have a private bathroom. We found the ping pong paddles but did not find the ping pong table which we learned was being repaired. Location was central for most attractions in the St. George area, and it is very likely that we will return to enjoy the Whitehead House again.

Owner's Response: We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the Whitehead Home, appreciated its wonderful location and found the space in the home ample for a large family gathering. In case you missed it, there is a description and map of the home showing the location and number of the bedrooms and bathrooms. It is located in photos and in house description. We will work on making this clearer for future guests. The ping pong table was taken off the listing as it was not working and was not allowing for extra family room space. We hope the abundant amount of home/kitchen/bath amenities made your travel easy and stay more enjoyable. Thanks again for being our guest.

Lovely home with many thoughtful touches. It was perfect for our family reunion.

The decor is lovely. Each of the bedrooms is unique and comfortable. The common rooms are spacious and conducive to gatherings, and there are several spots so people can spread out if they desire. The kitchen is well-appointed and we put it to good use during our stay.

Wonderful house and location

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful historic home with 8 bedrooms. The kitchen is central in house and recently remodeled. The kitchen is stocked with almost every possible appliance and cooking utensil/plates needed feeding a large family. We had a family vacation with 12 people and the house never felt too small for all of us. The house is very clean. The bathrooms are stocked like a hotel with shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc. This property is amazingly kid-friendly. We found 2 travel cribs, a high chair, a large box of toys, nightlights and child-friendly kitchen cups/plates/utensils. The under-the-stairs kid nook is adorable and occupied my children's' time for hours. St George provides easy access to Zion National Park and Snow Canyon for unlimited outdoors adventures. Rosana, the owner, was incredibly communicative before and during our visit. She was easily reachable and responded to our questions within just a few minutes to hours every time. We highly recommend this property on all fronts!

St. George and surrounding area is full of outdoor activities, places to explore and visit, and entertainment. "The unique setting translate to family adventures, luxury spas, extensive shopping, championship golf and nearby outdoor recreation assets unlike anywhere else. In other words, fishing, climbing, canyoneering, biking, hiking, ATV and more — all in the unbeatable climate of beautiful St. George, Utah. Many of the annual events (St. George Marathon, Ironman, Tour de St. George Bike race) come right past the Whitehead Home. And St. George area can boast of 11 wonderful golf courses.

Down the Street: The Downtown Farmers Market at Ancestor Square (two walking blocks from Whitehead) is a free event, held every Saturday, from 8am to 12 noon in the parking lot at Ancestor Square, located at St. George Blvd. and Main Street in Historic Downtown St. George. The event is held every Saturday starting the second Saturday in May through the end of October. Also in Ancestor Square are wonderful restaurants (George's, Painted Pony, Pizza, Thai food.) and the Mystery House. You can reserve a spot and try your skills in escaping from the room by solving the mystery. Great group fun. Need something to do with the children, easy 4 block walk to the Town Square. Town Square is more than just a park. It's a wonderful place to come alone and read a book or bring the family and play around. Have a nice picnic in the park on one of the picnic tables. Splash around in the splash pad and winding river. Ride the carousel, take a stroll along the walking path. Experience the culture of the flag memorial along with the art of the bronze exhibit, and visit the St. George Children’s Museum. The museum encourages its guests to touch, feel, play, and explore in the ten exhibit rooms. The rooms are designed to encourage interaction between adults and children. It is housed in an historic school. Then cross the street to Judd's General Store, for lunch, ice cream or pick out a bag full of your favorite treats you remember as a kid. Judd's is proud to be the oldest business in town...104 years and counting. It has been a favorite place of every kid in town since 1911. Also on Main is the Art Museum and during the summer you can buy tickets for a guided tour of old Saint George. These tickets will also get you into the Museum.

Down the Road: In the nearby town of Santa Clara you'll find Tuacahn the outdoor theater. Usually 4 musicals to choose from along with guest musical and comedic entertainers. Tuacahn is so popular you may want to book an event before you arrive. Santa Clara has a quaint old down town with some good restaurants and antique shops.

Adventure: In the same area is Snow Canyon State Park with beautiful visits and hikes.

A short drive east you can visit Zion's national park, with it's breathtaking beauty. Zion's has a variety of hikes, from a leisurely stroll to challenging downright scary. North and West you'll find amazing hikes with waterfalls. A few are Gunlock Waterfall and Pools, Toquerville Falls, Red Reef hike in Red Cliffs park, and Kanarra Creek Trail.

There are so many of sites (Historic and fun) that you just can't see and do everything in St. George in one trip. You'll want to come back, again and again.

*Do not unplug the wifi/cable inlet in Room #6. You will loose all internet and cable.
