About Morag Vincent

www charentemaritimecottages . com

We finally achieved our goal of moving to France in 2015. After many years of dreaming the time was right for us to leave the busy south east of England and set up home here, in our favourite region of France

Morag Vincent purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Morag Vincent chose Port-d'Envaux

We chose this property following an extensive search. It had that je ne sais quoi!

The location is idyllic and charming, quiet, peaceful and secluded yet not isolated from the rest of the hamlet or the towns nearby. The beaches, which are magnificent are all within a 35 minute drive. A beautiful golf course just 10 mins away the beautiful river to swim in just a stroll away all add to the draw of this fantastic area. Oh did I mention the sunshine !

What makes this cottage unique

The beautiful 18th century cottage and main house built out of charentaise stone have so much character set in large mature gardens. The herons that nest in the nearby trees, the deer in the fields , the river and the serenity of our surroundings.

You have your privacy, but also the reassurance that we are on hand to help with anything we can.

A lovely homely gite

  • 5 of 5

We felt very welcome from the time we arrived until we left. Morag & Vince were really friendly hosts, they provided information on the local and surrounding areas and are on site should they be needed.

The Gite is lovely, clean, neat and tidy with everything provided for an extremely comfortable stay, including a welcome basket which was as very nice touch and appreciated.

Ruby their rescue dog was an added bonus, a friendly lady with a bit of character.

We would highly recommend the Gite and Morag & Vince would be our first point of contact for availability should/when we return to the Sainte area.

Charming and well appointed Gite in the Charente, lived up to expectations of offering

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a month in this lovely Gite on holiday from Australia. Its in a lovely area near Sainte and Portd'Envaux, rural yet close to all city amenities. The Gite is beautifully appointed, clean and tastefully decorated and has everything in it you can think of to need, Morag and Vince were great hosts ready to help with advice as needed but not at all intrusive and obliging with any extra request we had such as printing visas etc. I can highly recommend this Gite for a short or long stay, its a sweet spot in France.

A lovely cottage set amongst beautiful sunflower fields

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jacinthe des Bois. Morag and Vince were both great hosts and really endeavoured to ensure that we had everything we needed so that the holiday was as relaxing as possible. The welcome basket on arrival was particularly useful!

The cottage itself has been fitted out to the highest standard, with all the amenities that you'd need. The barbecue area was great for relaxing during the long evenings.

The location is great for accessing much of the surrounding sights and areas of interest. The beach at Royan is lovely and is only about 30 mins away. Saintes has all the amenities you might need, and some great historic Roman sights. Plus the bigger cities of La Rochelle and Bordeaux aren't too far by road.

We would definitely recommend the cottage for others vying for a chilled out break in a beautiful part of France. Hope to be back soon!
