Chic Flat in Hampstead Village, 1 min walk to tube, Central London 10-15 mins

Bedrooms 2
Space 656 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 bedrooms, sleeps 5, separate kitchen and living room

A beautiful flat in the heart of historic and fashionable Hampstead Village, a neighbourhood associated with many artists, writers and celebrities. The flat is on the first floor up one flight of communal stairs, above a shop in a landmark period building with two other apartments in the building. The flat has beautiful, original fireplaces and wooden floors in the living areas, while the two bedrooms are carpeted. The master bedroom has a double bed and a closet. The second bedroom has two single beds, and one can be stored under the other if only one is needed. Please note that if both beds are used, they take up most of the space in the room and there is currently no storage. The large living room has a double sofa bed which expands the sleeping options.

The look of flat is modern, uncluttered and stylish. There are two comfortable sofas (one of which is also the sofa-bed) and leather chair in the spacious living room, and TV. The kitchen has a dining table and seating for six. It is fully fitted and well equipped with everything you might need to cook during your stay, and both regular and microwave ovens and a dishwasher. A washing machine/tumble dryer is also available in the flat for your use, as is high speed wi-fi internet. All bed linens and towels are provided.

The flat has wooden floors and large sash windows giving it lots of light and a great view onto the charming buzzy Hampstead High Street with its up-market shops, restaurants, patisseries and pubs. The view through the front windows onto the High Street is excellent for people watching! This is a very safe neighbourhood and the flat is one minute's walk to Hampstead Underground station from where you can be in Camden Town in under 10 minutes, and central London's West End in around 15-20 minutes. There are also bus connections right outside your front door to St Paul's in the City (the financial district). It is less than 10 minutes' walk from beautiful Hampstead Heath, London's largest wild open green space for fantastic walks, bathing in natural ponds (open all year round for the very brave) or an open air swimming pool at Parliament Hill, and breathtaking views across London. Hampstead is a very upmarket and select part of London which manages to be both villagey and charming, but at the same time cosmopolitan and trendy. If you want to step out of the front door into the heart of Hampstead and all it has to offer, then you really cannot better this location and flat.

I live nearby and am always on hand for any problems that I can help with or local advice I can offer. I can also arrange a driver to bring you to and from your airport, mid-stay cleaning, and babysitting with an excellent babysitter, all payable locally.

I am happy to be flexible about check in and check out times, wherever possible, if there is no other booking that day. Late check-ins -after 9pm during the week, and after 7pm at weekends (Friday - Sunday) - will be subject to a small additional fee. Please let me know at the time of booking if you plan to check in late.

Please note, the flat does not have a parking space, and parking long-term is problematic in Hampstead. We do not recommend you rent a car during your stay here - but a number of local driveways are rented privately on a daily basis and I can provide details if needed.

Charming and super convenient flat for a family!

  • 5 of 5

The flat was exactly as pictured and described - with the added bonus of being a stone's throw from a zillion little cafes and a Waterstones bookstore! We were able to send our two eleven-year-old sons up the street to pick up milk and sundries from the grocery store. Gabrielle was very welcoming and helpful and flexible with our check-in and check-out times. We would return in a heartbeat!

Beautiful homey feeling flat in a great area!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay here so much! Clean, nicely decorated with a homey feel! Gabrielle was so kind to give us an orientation when we arrived and her number if we had trouble or needed recommendations etc. And she had stocked the refrigerator with milk, juice, coffee, wine and some cookies; so thoughtful! The-neighborhood is lovely! We loved just being able to go to a pub, restaurant, bakery or the crepe stand all within one block! And the tube stop was about a 2 minute walk so very convenient location! The only way to improve it for my taste would be to have a softer mattress in main bedroom or perhaps pillowtop cover, but that’s just my personal opinion the bed was a little to firm. All in all a wonderful spot to stay!

Excellent location, excellent host

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week in July with two teenage sons, we loved the place! Gabrielle is an excellent host, very attentive both before and during the stay. Everything is within walking distance, Tesco, bakeries, restaurants - and Hampstead Heath for walks just minutes away. One of my sons even found a gym a couple of blocks down the road, so everyone was very happy with our week in Hampstead and Gabrielle’s flat!

Excellent and convenient little flat

  • 5 of 5

Gabrielle was a wonderful host. The flat is sparkling clean, has high ceilings and plenty of light, and is steps from the Hampstead tube station and all the area has to offer.

Amazing apartment!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely apartment! Travelling with newborn twins and a 6yr old is never easy but Gabrielle went out of her way to accommodate us and make our stay as comfortable as possible. The apartment is very spacious, even for us (4 adults, 1 child and 2 babies) and comes with a fully stocked grocery cupboard. Location is a major selling point, bus stop is right outside and tube station a stones throw away plus the hustle and bustle of Hampstead on the doorstep. Noise is not an issue, as the apartment is fitted with double glazing. We would highly recommend and will definitely book again. Thank you Gabrielle! 😊?

Simply perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I don't think my wife and I could have found a better place to stay on our recent trip to London. The flat is located in Hampstead, which is lively but without the craziness we saw in other parts of the city. Among the things we liked:

Gabrielle was very easy to deal with both while booking the flat and after arrival. She was very gracious in dealing with our needs to split the stay in two due to a tour we were taking in Scotland. This was the first time renting through VRBO that the owner met us at the property on arrival. It was a very nice touch, and we got to meet her dog as well!

The flat is very close to a Underground station. This was very handy. Be aware that if you take the Underground from the airport to the flat, you will have to get your luggage up a short flight of steps before you get to the lifts.

Once inside, we found a very nice interior. The kitchen, which was important to us as we don't like to eat out all the time on trips, was very well equipped and there were plenty of staples there for us to use. If you're coming from the US as we did, you will find the appliances to be different than what you're accustomed to, but it didn't take long to adapt.

The bedrooms are located on the back of the flat, and were very quiet at night. On Friday and Saturday evenings, Hampstead is busy, but we never found the noise level unacceptable. There is a hospital not too far away, so you will hear the occasional ambulance going by, but the London police and fire people are pretty good about not using the sirens unless they need to.

It's a short walk from the flat to Hampstead Heath, which is one of the nicest parks I've ever been in. We should have spent more time in the Heath, as it's very relaxing.

I usually can find at least one negative to any VRBO property, but I'm at a loss to do that here. When we return to London, we will look no farther than this flat!
