Lilac Cottage is a unique Grade II listed hamstone cottage believed to be over 400 years old with many original historical features which has been styled with authentic vintage furnishings but has modern luxurious comforts. The cottage has been featured in both Homes & Antiques (Vintage Special) and Vintage Homes magazines. Fully refurbished in 2016, it was once the owners' holiday home so every effort has been made to make sure your stay will be as perfect as possible.
With two bedrooms upstairs under the thatched roof, there is a good sized master bedroom with king size antique iron-framed bed (space for a travel cot) and a pretty bedroom with twin vintage wooden bedsteads, ideal for a family or adults sharing. Luxury Cath Kidston/White Company cotton bedlinen, top quality mattresses, pillows and duvets and towels are provided. Downstairs, you can enjoy a comfortable sitting room with original inglenook fireplace for roaring fires, flatscreen TV and DVD player, vintage boardgames and lots of books. Wifi is available. There is a separate dining room with vintage wireless, spacious well-fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and gas/electric range cooker. The bathroom has both a separate bath tub and freestanding shower unit.

Situated on a private path, with no passing traffic and few street lights, you can expect complete peace and relaxation. Hinton St. George is an ideal base for exploring all that Somerset, Dorset and Devon has to offer. The village offers a fantastic pub which has won Gastropub of the Year, a well-stocked community shop and post office, a quaint tea room and a village hall with playground for children all within a very short walk. There are numerous pretty villages in the surrounding area with pubs, tea rooms, cider barns and great opportunities for antiques shopping. Walking is incredible. Crewkerne is 3 miles away and has banks, shops and a Waitrose supermarket plus a leisure centre with swimming pool. The coast is approximately half an hour's drive away at Lyme Regis or West Bay. It is easy to use the railway to explore as Crewkerne Station is some 3 miles away and provides easy access to Exeter and beyond or alternatively, Salisbury and London.
