Stay in a beautiful, unqiue piece of Columbia County history along the Lewis and Clark Trail.
One of a kind B&B. Incredibly hospitable hosts. And great value for money!
We felt right at home in this comfy converted schoolhouse. The mellow drive along the Columbia River into Portland was a nice switch from the I-5 traffic scrum. Jason and Diane were both genial hosts, and we're in awe of all they have done to make Deer Island Manor a great home away from home!
We knew we would be happy but we had no idea how amazing and unique this place was! We stayed in the suite and it was definitely amazing. The bed was a zillion times more comfortable then at home! Breakfast was to the nines and I hope we can go back!
Jason and Diane have created a beautiful B&B. It fits perfectly into the the beauty of the landscape. It's comfortable in every way. I can't wait to go back!
Historic Deer Island Manor is a gem of a place to stay and just outside of Portland!! I was in Portland for a week of business meetings and wanted a different experience something that wasn't the typical Portland hotel room for my week long of meetings and projects etc. I found Historic Deer Island Manor and emailed with Diane about logistics and details and booked the room.
I have to say that the accommodations exceeded my expectations in every way!! First of all, Diane and Jason are terrific hosts and we so kind to wait up late the first night to make sure I arrived in a nice way even though I have a late arriving flight to the airport and then had travel time. Next is the yummy breakfasts. And the room was perfect too - new king bed and great antiques throughout! Comfy and private and excellent WIFI which I need for work every night and early AM.
It is rare to find a place that is so comfortable and quiet when traveling. I look forward to returning and hope to stay in touch with Diane and Jason -they are great people and I feel like I made new friends.
Also... There is a great place for dinner (Dockside) in St. Helens less than 10 mins away... and Portland was about a 40 min drive and never had traffic during rush hour.. (completely amazing!)
We stayed with Jason and Diane in their lovely home to do some kayaking on the Columbia River from nearby Scappoose Bay Paddling Center. Jason and Diane have turned a historic 2-room schoolhouse into a charming and unique B&B, located conveniently close to Highway 30. The entire house has high ceilings, good natural ventilation, and excellent natural lighting. They have done an amazing job of decorating and furnishing the old schoolhouse, and we can see that it has been a labor of love for Jason and Diane. Our bedroom was airy and beautiful, with a very comfortable king-sized bed. The shared living area, which includes the kitchen, dining area, and living room, is spacious and comfortably furnished. The kitchen is jaw-droppingly amazing. I want one just like this! Jason and Diane were more than hospitable in offering us the use of their washer and dryer following our kayaking, and provided helpful advice on nearby dining options. They kindly asked our preferences for breakfast time and menu, and had freshly brewed coffee and hot tea water waiting for us when we returned from a morning walk, followed by a delicious breakfast. We can't say enough about Jason and Diane's hospitality, and plan to return this summer for more kayaking. Thanks for a fantastic weekend in a memorable setting!
