1830's Creole Cottage in the Heart of the Marigny Trianlge
Welcome to Les Deux Paumes. Our 3bd/3ba home is an original Creole Cottage only 2 blocks to the French Quarter, 2 blocks to Frenchman Street and a short walk to the Bywater.
Les Deux Paumes - so named for the 2 beautiful palm trees right outside. Our home is an original Creole Cottage from around the 1830s. While we love the history of the building, we've renovated the inside with a modern sensibility and a focus on clean, easy comfort.
There's a Sonos sound system throughout the house that you can use (download the Sonos App to your phone and you're in business) and cable HD TV with a Roku (for all your streaming services). Access to the building is managed through a digital keypad so you don't have to worry too much about finding/losing keys. There's also a new central air conditioning and heat system. Parking on the street is usually very easy.
The main house has 2 bedrooms each with queen beds, 2 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen, living room, den area, master bed, master bath, and upstairs office with 27 inch flatscreen monitor in case you need to do some work while you're visiting. The house also has a washer, dryer and dishwasher.
There's also a guest studio in the backyard past the spacious deck for additional space and privacy. It has a new full bed and its own bathroom.
While you probably won't be home too much while you're visiting this great city, it's nice to know you'll be able to return home to a quiet and comfortable oasis.
Check-in is super easy. There's a digital keypad on the front door and upon your arrival we'll give you the access code.
Check-in is after 3pm and Check-out is before noon.
Once you check-in to our home you'll be left completely alone. We're available if you have any questions but other than that, just enjoy our home (and please take care of it!).
The Marigny Triangle is one of the most beautiful and historic neighborhoods in a city full of history and beauty. Our neighbors are all super nice folks that you'll probably meet as you come and go. Plus, you're only 2 blocks to the French Quarter and 2 blocks to Frenchman Street. Not to mention that all the great stuff happening in the Bywater is only a short walk away.
It's pretty easy to grab a cab on Esplanade (2 blocks away). Other than that, you can probably walk everywhere you're looking to go.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was larger than I expected, with lovely decor. Our bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the house overall felt quite clean (exception - the main house bathrooms both had a strong urine odor around the toilets). We enjoyed listenng to music on the Sonos player. My brother cooked his breakfast each day in the spacious kitchen (gluten issues, so he prefers to eat in whenever possible). The two living rooms and the darling back yard/deck provided us with nice spots to sit and visit.
The little guest house bedroom/bath did have a closed-in, dusty smell (but was neither dirty nor moldy) and the spiral stairs to the upstairs suite presented a challenge (not great for a middle of the night bathroom trip). We put the couple with the strongest bladders upstairs!
The neighborhood felt safe to walk in during the day (or at night with my husband or others in our group) - just a block or two further up the street might not have felt as safe. We had no trouble parking and our cars were unmolested for the stay.
The walk to the Frenchman Street bars (and the delicious Ruby Slipper Cafe for breakfast!) was quick and also we had easy access to the French Quarter by foot or Uber ride.
All six of us agreed that the house exceeded our expectations!! We really loved our stay and would recommend this beautiful home to friends and family!
Our group of 5 had a great stay at this lovely home in the Marigny, which was in an excellent location, quiet and residential but within walking distance of the French Quarter and Frenchmen St. Coming and going from the home was easy, and plenty of privacy for everyone in our group.
As it is an old home, the bathroom off the kitchen could use some repairs (the water in the toilet ran constantly causing some very loud noise in the pipes our first night, which we were able to address by running water in the other bathroom). We never had that problem again however. Everything else functioned very well!
Myself and four good girlfriends spent five days at this lovely home. The amount of bedrooms and bathrooms made for a perfect scenario for our stay. The home is obviously well cared for and the location was perfect for a walk to Frenchmen's St and The French Quarter. We felt safe as well. Close to several great neighborhood restaurants. My only advice would be that the home have an iron and some hand towels (in the kitchen and bathrooms). Also, the toilet near the kitchen is running and probably should be looked at. Thanks for a great place to stay in NOLA!
This house is in a perfect location. Just a quick walk or Uber to both Bourbon Or Frenchman St. There are also plenty of cool spots to eat and drink close to the house for a more local feel. It's decorated so perfectly (loved the wall art) and feels just like home. Take a moment to enjoy the street itself, the houses all have the color and feeling of NOLA.
Having a little private room off the house was perfect if some of the guests want some downtime when the rest are keeping the party going. The hosts are very accommodating and are quick to respond with any questions.
Side note, walk down to Port of Call and enjoy a Monsoon...but only one! When the Pat the bartender tells you NOLA is a marathon not a sprint it's true!
Can't wait to come back to the house and NOLA soon! I miss it already.
This was the perfect house and the perfect location for our first trip to New Orleans. We love to walk and everything was just steps away.... But far enough away for it to be quiet at night.
The house itself fit the 5 of us with plenty of breathing room. It was well stocked with linens and clean as a whistle. The electronic door lock was great; we never worried about who had the key. The ac worked very well in the July heat. Even the wall ac in the guest house worked great.
Thank you for helping make our first trip here amazing!
This home is lovely and only about a 10 minute walk from both Bourbon and Frenchmen Streets. We had 3 couples stay and between the two bedrooms inside and the little "apartment" outside, it was perfect. The patio was great for game playing and just catching up on our fun days. Definitely a winner!!
