THE LOCATION

This newly constructed 700 sq. ft. cottage is located on Anastasia Island in historic St. Augustine, Fl. The Middleton Guest Cottage is a charming bungalow nestled among live oaks on a unique piece of property just steps from the 1874 St. Augustine Lighthouse.

THE COTTAGE

The Middleton Guest Cottage was rebuilt on the original location of a beach cottage owned by the Middleton family since the early 1900's. The current owners have lovingly restored the circa 1904 main house on the property and reconstructed the cottage to accommodate seasonal renters.

The interior is cottage style and consists of wood floors and bead board walls .

The Anastasia State Park is in walking or biking distance for a day at the beach.

Just over the Bridge of Lions is historic downtown St. Augustine. The oldest city in the country. Here you can find art galleries, restaurants, shops, museums, beautiful Flagler College and scenic tours.

Why Nancy Ferreira chose St. Augustine

We first came to St. Augustine in 1994 when our son attended Flagler College. We were so impressed with the area that we moved here in 2004. Building and restoration have always been a part of our lives. We feel fortunate to have been able to purchase this unique piece of property owned by 3 generations of the Middleton family and restored it to its original beach cottage style.

What makes this cottage unique

This unique piece of property lies in the shadow of the lighthouse and is situated on a quiet dead end street lined with beautiful hundred year old live oaks . We love living where all the amenities of this island are within walking or biking distance and still only 10 minutes to downtown St. Augustine. At Christmas time downtown is lit up like a fairyland with all the holiday glitz. The tree lighting ceremony , Christmas parade, Holly Jolly trolley, boat parade and much more. 2015 brings us to the 450th birthday of St. Augustine which promises to be a year filled with celebration!

Southern Hospitality at its finest!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot describe how wonderful it is to stay at Nancy and Steve's delightful little cottage. Inside and out, it is just perfection. The cottage is immaculate, bright and filled with charm. Old photographs and original artwork add a nice touch. The kitchen is totally equipped, including Keurig coffeemaker (with K-cups!), everything you would need for cooking at home. The air-conditioning works perfectly, but if it's cool, it's lovely to open the windows and enjoy the sea breezes. The upstairs bedroom is great - comfortable bed, huge walk-in closet, tennis racquets and balls in the closet. Best of all is the private deck where you can spend your time under the live oak tree with coffee or a drink - so relaxing! There are so many things to do - visit the lighthouse, go to the beach, sightseeing in St. Augustine, with lots of fine dining and casual options for eating out. I so enjoyed spending the month of April at this amazing location. Many thanks to Nancy and Steve for your friendship and hospitality during my time in the shadow of the lighthouse!

The Most Relaxing Vacation EVER!

  • 5 of 5

There isn't enough space here to write how much we enjoyed our stay at "the little yellow cottage". In a nutshell: clean, comfortable, lovely secluded spot - but very near everything there is to see. Steve and Nancy are lovely and supply more than you can imagine - including homemade banana bread upon our arrival!! Although chilly when we were there, the heat and AC keep this from smelling mildew, as some cottages do. Because of using their Keurig coffee maker we now own everything they do!! We never had one!! We then stayed in Jupiter for a week in a BORING motel room and everyday my husband said - "I MISS OUR YELLOW COTTAGE"!! I have told every friend I know - it's a must!! Put it on your bucket list - at the top!!

Hidden gem!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I spent our first week as newlyweds at this beautiful cottage! The cottage is just perfect! It's sweet, charming, quiet, & beautiful! The neighborhood is a perfect mix of old & new! It's close enough to Saint Augustine, but not too close to get caught up with all the hustle & bustle. And the view of the lighthouse, breathtaking! Sitting outside looking at the stars and seeing the lighthouse in action was such a treat!

Nancy & Steve are just a friendly & kind as they can be. They always gave us great suggestion on the best local eats & were always so super friendly. It felt like we'd known them for ages! Nancy even made us banana bread & chocolate covered strawberries, such a nice touch after a long day of traveling. The cottage is even better than the photos, it's the type of place you can unwind and recharge. We'll totally be back!!! Thank you so much for having us! 💗, The Scotts

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely cottage for a long weekend getaway. The place was charming and immaculate. Nancy and Steve are next door, but it still feels very private. It's close to all the action but quiet and relaxing. We walked to the lighthouse area several times during our stay.

The bedroom is comfortable but it is upstairs, so this would not suit someone who has difficulty climbing. The bathroom is little but adequate with a small shower.

I loved the house and would rent it again in a second!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from our visit to St Augustine and the whole way home we talked about when to return. We loved visiting St Augustine but we just adored the cottage, its location and the hosts Nancy and Steve. From the moment we arrived it was like being welcomed home. Once inside, it's just so cozy , comfortable and perfect for 2 people. As far as the area, this quaint, quiet, residential neighborhood was the perfect location for us. We walked to everything. Over the bridge into town, to the lighthouse and to some great restaurants. Can't wait to return.

Thank you Nancy and Steve for sharing this gem with us.

A great home away from home

  • 4 of 5

The property is located in a very quaint area that lends itself to privacy and relaxation. The home is very well maintained both inside and out. The kitchen has everything one may need. We felt that the owners were very kind and accommodating. It was necessary to drive to attractions but the drive was short.
