About Caroline Richardson
I manage this apartment on behalf of my family. I live 20 miles away in Falmouth - another beautiful seaside Cornish town - and have my own treasured memories of many happy holidays in and around Perranporth.
Why Caroline Richardson chose Perranporth
Droskyn Castle is an imposing stone C19th building situated on the clifftop overlooking Perranporth beach. At one time it was a hotel, and 'Poldark' author Winston Graham is said to have got engaged in what is now one of our apartment's bedrooms (when it was the ballroom of the hotel). Droskyn cliffs, Perranporth beach and the surrounding countryside form the setting for Nampara, Poldark's mines and the neighbouring villages in these novels. Droskyn Castle is ideally placed as a base for exploring the county - being on the coast path, half way down the magnificent and rugged north Cornish coast. It boasts excellent surfing, is close to the shopping and cathedral city of Truro, and within easy reach of a wide range of local attractions (including the Lappa Valley steam railway, the Eden Project, numerous National Trust properties and the historic fishing ports of St Ives and Newlyn).
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment at Droskyn Castle has unrivalled and extensive views of the ocean, beach and dunes at Perranporth. Although close to village amenities, it has a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere and whilst in the flat you could believe you are in your own private world, miles from civilisation.

Long weekend with family
We had a four day stay at Droskyn castle and it was wonderful. The apartment is utterly fabulous, spotless and extremely comfortable. It accommodated our party of seven with ease and the views from all the rooms were outstanding. Absolutely loved it, there is nothing I can put that is negative. Gorgeous location, comfortable and spacious living space, fully equipped cupboards with plenty of cups etc and those little extras that helped make our stay even more enjoyable. Would 100% recommend. We also were blessed with beautiful warm spring weather. Perfect.
This part of Cornwall abounds with places of interest - coastal walks, fishing villages, gardens, stately homes, castles, art galleries and museums. A few of the most popular are: the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown historic harbour and Mevagissey (all near St. Austell); Pendennis Castle, the National Maritime Museum, Trebah and Glendurgan Sub-tropical gardens (all in or near Falmouth); a zoo, aquarium, Fistral beach and Trerice Manor house (in or near Newquay); beaches, art galleries and Tate Modern in St. Ives; Bodmin Jail, antique shops and Lanhydrock House in the Lostwithiel area; and St. Michael's Mount and ferries to the Scillies in Penzance. For children, there are nearby attractions at Dairyworld, Crealy Adventure Park and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway.
