Cute waterfront apartment with balcony on the lava rocks and WiFi

Bedrooms 2
Space 645 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 0 - 7 nights

About the property

sea view, Stazzo, WiFi, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Etna, restaurant at 200 m

Cute apartment with balcony on the lava rocks, with a fantastic view of the coast and located at only 200 meters from a restaurant. A path leads directly to the lava rocks from where you can plunge into the sea. In summer - July and August – wooden stairs are built on the lava rocks making your access to the water even easier.

Casa Verdeacqua is built on the first and second floor of a waterfront building at the end of a street in Stazzo, a tiny seaside village. The location, therefore, is quiet and strategic at the same time. 1 km away is another village, called Pozzillo, with a small, authentic harbour where fishermen still pull up daily their colourful boats onto the black lava beach. There is also a small woodshed where you can buy every morning fresh fish.

The first floor of the apartment consists of a living room with open kitchen and dining table, a bathroom and a twin bedroom that can be turn into a double bedroom. On the second floor are a double room with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom.

Thanks to the air-conditioning (warm/cold) on the second floor and an electric stove on the first floor, Casa Verdeacqua guarantees a cosy stay also during the short Sicilian winter.

Very good

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was very comfortable, had everything we needed and the view from the balcony wonderful. Perhaps one more deck chair so we didn't have to fight over the only one would have been nice.

There was very much an end-of season feel to Stazzo which actually we enjoyed as most of the surrounding apartments were empty.

We found no one spoke English (even in the Tourists Information in Acireale so, as we hadn't hired a car, we had great difficulty finding out about trains and buses. So the agent Francesca (who we could text in English)and her father Salvatore were an absolute godsend. Salvatore met us at the airport and also took us to Etna, a wonderful trip as he was so enthusiatic and knowledgable about the area. Francesca also arranged us taxis, which we would have found impossible.

On the whole it was a quiet but good stay.

Lovely apartment

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a fortnight end June/beginning of July. The apartment is very charming and in a quiet location. Stazzo is a very Italian and non touristic village, very little English spoken which is a good thing but make sure you have your phrase book ! We didn't hire a car and went everywhere by bus and train. There is only one bus that runs out of Stazzo which goes to a neighbouring town of Acireale from where you take a train or bus. If you are not up for public transport ( which sometimes doesn't appear) I would suggest hiring a car. There are walk ways to 'solariums' that give you access to the sea otherwise there is a beach in the village which is very small, crowded and not the cleanest although the water is crystal clear. Overall, recommended unless you are are looking for a busy nightlife

Oh, the views! Wow!

  • 5 of 5

At front you have the sea. From the rear bedroom window is Mount Etna. Close enough to be interesting, distamt enough to be non-worrying.

The apartment is delightful. Driving through the immediate area takes some getting used to! Sicilian drivers take no prisoners.

The apartment is very well equipped in many ways, but UK tea drinkers may wish to bring a travel kettle. Heating water in a pan for tea/vegetables/pasta is tedious. And bring a tea towel.

Try not to need to wash your hair on the same day - the water heating system struggles.

But the bed is comfortable, the apartment is delightful, the views are exceptional. Would we go back? Oh yes!

Birthday treat

  • 3 of 5

We were so looking forward to our holiday, must say we did have a good time, however the property inside was nice, a bit dated, but the outside of the complex was a little run down and dirty to be honest, there was dust papers, and dirt everywhere, we were also told and it's on the web site that's there are steps leading down on to the sea so you can take a swim, no!! there is now as they were building it as we were leaving, so we had to go and walk to our local beach and pay most days for sun beds and umberellas which wasn't cheap! bit disappointing must say! We hired a car and enjoyed the days visiting other places, the view from our balcony I must say was stunning, but the surrounding area around the apartment isn't good and that's such a shame, because the owner is such a nice person and made the place lovely, she gave us a lovely greeting, however I would not return, the whole of this building needs a lot of work!!

Bel appartement dans un endroit calme avec vue superbe sur la Méditerranée

  • 4 of 5

The house is situated at the end of a street with seafront houses and 300 meters from the center of Stazzo. Stazzo is a small, fishing village with a black beach. The area of Stazzo is characterized by lemon groves on the seaward greeny slopes of Mount Etna. Stazzo is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The calm village lies halfway between Catania and Taormina and just five kilometres from Acireale, a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches. Giardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, is just 25 kilometres from Stazzo. Nexto to Giardini we find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily.
