CHAPS & SPURS HISTORIC BUNKHOUSE is one of 4 unique accommodations we offer. All are in a private setting for guests looking for lodging with a personal touch. If your vacation is centered around exploring this unique area, you are within minutes of area activities and attractions. The East Entrance to Glacier Park is 15 minutes away, Many Glacier Valley is 20 minutes, Two Medicine Valley is an hour's scenic drive as is Waterton National Park in Canada. The Ranch is an ideal place to return to after a day of activity; to kick back, relax and plan your next day's adventure. If you prefer time to read, write, photograph or other more solitary pursuits, you will enjoy the space, privacy and inspiring natural ambience. All our vacation rentals offer the serenity, privacy and views that Paul Ranch Montana LLC is famous for.
Centrally located for a variety of destinations and pursuits, this rustic one-room bunkhouse is comfortable, and well-maintained. It is decorated with historic period furnishings, except for the beds (we want our guests to get a good night's sleep). For the budget minded traveler, our Chaps & Spurs Historic Bunkhouse will help you stretch your travel dollar. Sitting on the porch morning and evening is a favorite spot of the Ranch owner...feeling the fresh air, listening to the natural sounds, gazing at the mountains, watching the gold finches drink and bathe in the adjacent pond, and the butterflies flutter about in the peacefulness of the setting. In a sense, you'll truly be roughing it (just like the cowboys)...there's electricity and a brand new private washhouse with shower, sink and toilet. It's a rustic taste of Montana's past! Potable water is provided. The Bunkhouse is equipped with a microwave, a small fridge, a coffeemaker & coffee fixin's, paper plates, cups, plastic wear, linens, blankets, and towels. Daily service to your accommodations allows you to concentrate on your vacation, not housekeeping.
A covered porch off the front door offers mountain views of Glacier Park that are beyond belief and is a perfect place to dine, to start your day with morning coffee or to end your evening relaxing and viewing wildlife that inhabit the property. A large open field invites an evening stroll; equipment is on hand for outdoor games and activities. This is a plus for families traveling with children.

As a native of Montana, I was raised with sweeping prairies and rugged mountains. The Paul Ranch is 160 acres of natural beauty and I can't imagine living anywhere else. I enjoy meeting new people and sharing this peaceful and spectacular setting. Rick and Kathy, your hosts, will personalize your stay to make it one to remember. Come stay with us a while
The Owner purchased this cabin in 1992
The unique benefits of the Ranch include the wildlife that inhabit the property, the pair of red tailed hawks that take up residency every year, the awesome mountain vistas, the clean air, the clear night sky, the get-away-from-it-all setting. Hearing the morning and evening sounds from the wetlands conservation area that borders the property will connect you with nature and refresh your spirit.
Myself and my two boys thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay in your small cabin last weekend. Mike was very friendly, helpful, and really enjoys his job working for you. He made us feel oh so special. His wife also made us some taco won tongs. (: yum yum.
I hope I can make the trip from Missouri back to Glacier NP in the near future and stay in this same cabin. If there was a rocking chair on the front porch, I don't know if I would have ever left. Thank you. very much.
Cute bunkhouse, very conveniently located near the Park.
We really enjoyed our stay at the bunkhouse. The caretakers were very helpful and friendly. All the little necessities were available in the kitchen and bathroom. The setting of the ranch is really beautiful and the peace and quiet were just what we were looking for. We knew that there would be a single bed and a bunkbed and that the bathroom was separate, so we were fine with that. I think that the addition of a full size bed instead of the single would be awesome. The bunkhouse was rustic but clean, the bathroom appears to be quite new and it's cute. This location is also much more convenient to both Many Glacier and St. Mary than we realized when we made the reservation. We'll definitely be visiting again.
No doubt about it, the Bunkhouse is a tiny one-room cabin and the best deal within a 100 mile-radius outside the entrances to Many Glacier and St. Mary. My boyfriend and I stayed from August 14-21 and it was amazing. We bought our food in Browning to cook at the cabin. Without asking, Gene and Terry brought up full-size refrigerator from storage and installed it for us. Very thoughtful people. The homemade cookies on arrival were delicious. Incredibly accommodating when we asked for cooking utensils/appliances/supplies. Slow-cooker, stovetop grill with two bottles of propane (they knew we were going to run out!), charcoal grill, dish detergent, spatula, and even Udder Butter for my sunburn! I felt bad for asking for so many things. They left us a heater and a giant fan for the unpredictable weather during our stay and we made good use of both.
The beds are too small for couples, but still comfy for those that like firmer beds. The only con I can think of is the stale smell within the cabin, but we kept our windows open for the whole day to air it out. About cell reception, don't expect any here. AT&T doesn't work here as with most cell carriers. They do offer wifi for $5 a day, but only 340mb per day. Anything extra over that is $10. You can work something out with them if you're going to use up more. We couldn't stream videos/netflix but we didn't have a problem with that at all. We used it mainly to browse the internet/check email/facebook and it was fine. Something to consider.
The bathroom is lovely and charming. It's a newer addition, separate from the cabin. Well-insulated. They kept the cabin and bathroom very organized, immaculate every day. It was a welcome sight after a long day to see towels neatly refolded/changed and our stuff carefully reorganized (and non-intrusively). Clean place to shower! The hard part was cleaning our plates/pans up in the bathroom because there was less room to manuever. (They have paper plates and plastic utensils!)
You can tell the Bunkhouse is a labor of love and care. The free-roaming alpacas are adorable. Came right in front of the cabin to graze. You get privacy, a unique experience, and amazing people that care about your comfort. We felt very welcomed and relaxed. I recommend it for travelers that don't need much, friends, couples sleeping in separate beds. Perfect base for hikers. Very close to the park and without the noise and tourists. For the price and distance, this is a steal. We'll be back!
When we think of the Paul Ranch, we think of the caretakers, Gene and Terrie. We loved visiting with them. They made us and our dog Peanut feel right at home. We would love to visit them again. We can't imagine better representatives of Paul Ranch.
The Bunkhouse was clean and so much more than we were expecting. The bathroom was so nice. The pond right outside the Bunkhouse was a wonderful treat. The flowers were great and so were the little birds that came to the pond for water.
All in all, we found the Paul Ranch to be a restful retreat, something we weren't even aware that we needed until we got there.
We rented it because it was so close to Swift Current Valley, Chief Mountain and St. Mary's.
We will definitely recommend it to our friends. We plan to return .
We very much enjoyed our stay at Paul Ranch in Babb, MT. The location on the East side of Glacier was great as we didn't deal with any crowds typical of the West side of the park, and access to the St. Mary entrance and Going-to-the-Sun Road was very close! The bunkhouse was quite pleasant and had a generous amount of space for two people and would easily accommodate three. The decor of both the bunkhouse and shower room were perfectly Western and made the stay seem completely authentic! The new shower room was beautiful with a great indoor hot-water shower. We were warmly welcomed by the Pauls who made sure to greet us in person to ensure our comfort. We would highly recommend a 'ranch' experience at Paul Ranch!
If you're looking for The Ritz, this won't do it!
If, however, you're looking to be far from the madding crowd, in a quiet, peaceful and comfortable little place, then this is darn-near perfect!
It's located on a large plot of land, just far enough away to offer a nice sense of solitude and relaxation.
Yet, it's only a few minutes from town (Babb) and the turn-off for the Many Glacier access road.
The hosts and caretakers, Gene and Terri could not be nicer, and they provide all the amenities needed for your stay.
The resident Alpacas are a nice bonus.
