About Tina Raison
I have lived in Duras for many years where I design, make and sell sterling silver jewellery. I have a market stall every Monday morning from April to September and open my workshop to the public three afternoons a week.
Tina Raison purchased this House in 2015
Why Tina Raison chose Duras
A comfortable home away from home - enjoy all that Duras has to offer without having to drive. While this lovely town house is light and modern with all the amenities you might need, it nestles in the heart of historic Duras, just a few metres from the iconic Clock Tower. Café bars and restaurants are a stones throw away, dotted around Duras market square - the hub of all seasonal entertainment during the summer months.
What makes this House unique
Spacious and bright, this town house is arranged over two floors with precious (and rare) sunny outside space big enough for alfresco dining and a spot of sunbathing. Newly renovated to a very high standard, all appliances and most furniture is shiny and new.
Please leave the house and all contents clean and tidy on departure with everything where you found it to avoid a cleaning charge. All appliances and most furniture were new in 2016 so any damage will be charged for accordingly. Failure to arrive at the property within 24 hours of your contracted start date without prior agreement will be taken as a non-refundable cancellation, so please ensure you communicate any delay in arrival. Please avoid excessive noise, especially between 11 pm and 6 am. If you repeatedly cause a nusance to neighbours you may be asked to leave the property before the end of your contract without a refund. If you turn on the electric heating during your stay (May to September inclusive) you may exceed your electricity allowance and will be charged for excess units at cost. Please do not use the bathroom towels provided for anything else (e.g. sunbathing) or when applying products that may mark or damage them (e.g. hair dye). Please do let me know if you have a house related problem while there is still time to do something to correct it - I am also available for local advice to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Family holiday - 1 week
La pettite Gemme lives up to its name.
It’s in an idyllic location in a lovely old town with everything on the doorstep. Very well equipped.
Loved hearing the clock tower chimes and soaking up the French way of life from there.
Tina the owner was on hand and very helpful .
We would love to return.
Than you for your lovely review, I'm so glad you enjoyed the area and staying at La Petite Gemme, you will be most welcome to return. Take care, Tina
Excellent location and facilities
We stayed for a week at La Petite Gemme. The property is spacious and well equipped with all one might need. The location was charming and extremely convenient. Staying here was great for exploring the nearby attractions (Issigeac, Eymet, Lauzun) and for travelling further afield - we had day trips to the heart of the Dordogne, St Emilion and Dune de Pilat (a highlight for me). We had our ten year old with us and he greatly enjoyed the games at Chateau de Bridoire, the inflatables and slides at AquaPark de Biscarrosse and shopping at the Duras night market. The town itself has plenty to explore - we particularly enjoyed the lively markets, leisurely meals and the ability to enjoy a glass of wine in the square while watching the world go by (and being able to walk home).
La Petit Gemme is just steps away from the centre of town. It had all the conveniences which we appreciate - a well-equipped kitchen for home cooking, UK TV channels to keep abreast of necessary favourites (bake-off!), good-wi-fi to check no work concerns and a sunny terrace to sit with a good book. Tina was a well-informed host - easily available but also unobtrusive,
Thank you so much for a lovely stay.
Thank you for your very quick and positive review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay - you will be very welcome to stay again in the future if you visit the area again. All the best, Tina
Beautiful little town with quite a few restaurants to choose from and a tourist information which is surprising for such a small place. All of the places we tried were good with friendly, helpful staff and good food.My favourite restaurant was Le Cabri,a short walk out of town.Very friendly staff, good menu with salad included- unusual in a lot of restaurants??? Wine very cheap in most restaurants, beer can be a bit expensive.Try Leffe Ruby for a delicious lager type beer with a hint of a rose flavour- very refreshing.
St Emillion is a beautiful little town, full of old world character. Bergerac was also full of old character buildings.
Very comfortable beds and bedding- unusual for a holiday rental.House lovely and cool at all times which was a blessing on really hot days. Beautiful walks on the doorstep but really need a car to get out onto the countryside to the many walks.Plenty of maps available in the house or from the tourist information. Markets in town and nearby other towns ever day. Tina very helpful with advise and easy to contact. Thanks Tina, it's been a great holiday.Highly recommend.:-)
Perfect and well equipped apartment.
Tina has a great apartment right in the centre of the village of Duras. The area downstairs was cool during the warm days we were there and the bedrooms upstairs were light and roomy. Kitchen is well equipped and all the cutlery, crockery and pots and pans are new. The outdoor terrace is perfect for meals and relaxing. Very good apartment.
Tina was very welcoming, gave much information to ensure our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble for Tina, she is the perfect host.
We had the most comfortable and wonderful stay in La Petite Gemme. La Petite Gemme was extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean., location was perfect, only a stones throw away from the town square with many bars, restaurants, cafes and shops you would need. The locals were very friendly. There is a Monday morning market with stalls galore and Thursday evening market...the town was alive! with various stalls including drinks & food, tables set out to sit and enjoy food and drink, it was wonderful.
Bergerac airport just 40 minutes away as is Bergerac Old Town, well worth a visit.
Duras is perfectly placed for many nearby areas to visit, you could never get bored.
We cannot recommend La Petite Gemme enough, hence we plan to return. Just Perfect!!!
PS, Tina's jewellery, do have a browse its beautiful.
Dear Gillian and Paul, thank you so much for your lovely comments. You were the perfect guests and I would be delighted to see you again soon. Take care and all the best.
Newly renovated property to a very high standard. Perfectly located in the heart of Duras.
We had a lovely stay for 2 weeks in this beautiful part of South Western France. The property can easily accommodate 4 people and extend to 6 if required. The kitchen was quite spacious with everything provided for. The owner, Tina, was very accommodating and was easily contactable - living next door to the property. There was a welcome pack of wine and chocolates awaiting us and as we were late in arriving she had also left some 'emergency' food for us just in case we needed it! There were also a number of additional touches such as dishwasher tablets, washing powder, soap etc. It's a part of France we have not been to before but on the evidence of our stay we shall definitely be returning. The countryside is breath-taking littered with beautiful medieval villages and points of interest. We love walking and there were several printed routes available from the local Tourist Office. There are 4 restaurants in Duras and they are all of a good standard.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. It was a joy being able to welcome you both and I hope to see you again in the future if you return to this area. Very best regards, Tina
