great swimming pool

  • 3 of 5

This quirky property looked great on the listing. However, it was gloomy inside with very poor lighting so no way to brighten it up and whilst superficially clean was pretty dusty if you moved anything. It was also musty and damp. We visited at the end of August. The proximity to the Gironde meant the property was full of mosquitoes and we all suffered badly despite using repellants. The pool itself was super - heated to 21.5 degrees though with just 2 sunloungers, 1 parasol, and some wooden benches shared between the 2 properties, there was not much comfort to enjoy when not in the pool. The owners were away at the coast when we stayed and the grounds were a little uncared for - you had to walk through knee high grass to reach the washing line to dry towels etc. Eric welcomed us with towels and linen washed, but not ironed, in a basket and left us to make our own beds! So after our long journey we had to work out which sheets went on which bed and make them ourselves with crumpled sheets. Hot and tired, we then couldn't even cool off in the pool and it was out of action for the first 24 hours unfortunately! The wifi dongle showed up on our devices but even with only 1 device on was such low speed that we rarely loaded a page before it timed out. The location was good in general for the wine regions in the area and close to Bordeaux city but the accommodation was disappointing. 3 stars for the pool and location.

Owner's Response: Dear Laura, We apologize for the disappointment that occur to you. We're regretting that you didn't approach us with your issues. So we would prompt to solve them. For your information: the pool thermometer was broken....the water temperature was 27/28 all summer long. Regard Eric

Amazing Place to Stay; Lovely Hosts

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 5 year old son, 2 year old daughter have been traveling through Europe for over 9 months and we recently stayed at La Tour Carrée for six nights and it is BY FAR one of our favorite places we have stayed in Europe. Eric and Crystal were amazing hosts and the property is stunning. We do not have enough nice things to say about our hosts, the beautiful grounds, and the Tour Carree is extremely large, very well put together, and is just lovely.

The location is perfect as it is 15 minutes outside of Bourdeaux central and is right in the center of various tourist attractions.

Anybody visiting Bordeaux should definitely stay here as it was an excellent place to stay and was a very good value.

vacances au calme

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Barbara.

Un angolo di paradiso

  • 5 of 5

Raccomandabile in ogni senso.
