The coziest cabin we've ever stayed at

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was amazing. The creek was so beautiful and we enjoyed the view. Being able to sit in the hot tub, or by the fire, or on the swing and always see and hear the beautiful creek was an experience that we won't soon forget. The owner was amazing and we experienced no issues while we were there. We will definitely be back and can't wait to visit again.

Cabin is old but nice...location lovely...$$$ too much!

  • 2 of 5

We enjoyed our trip to the mountains. The cabin is older but it’s nice and clean. The location and the river are lovely. BUT...this site VRBO. I will never go through them again I have rented cabins for over 20 odd years. I have never had to pay $$$ upfront for the cabin to be cleaned. It has always been in a contract that if you did not clean it, if you messed it up, if you broke something...they gave you a price that they would be taking out of your bank account. I do not understand why you have to pay a fee for them to clean the cabin that you’re paying to rent. If I broke or messed up anything or didn’t clean it to their satisfaction, I totally would understand the $$$ fee. Then there is a $$$ fee that is charged If you tear, destroy, or leave uncleaned . So I paid $$$ for them to clean then I paid a $$$ fee in case I messed it up but neither fee is refundable. Also the amount quoted per night was $good at first, then it was quoted as $$$..ok reasonable. When I rented the cabin and got my contract I was charged 40 more a night this was never one of their quoted amounts so I ended up paying almost $$$$ for two nights in an old cabin. I had reached out to the owner to possibly at least refund the difference between the $$$ a night and $$$ a night. I have gotten NO response. I did cancel the insurance through the VRBO site for $$$.. however that got an immediate response from the owner he called me almost immediately saying that he would cancel the reservation if I did not get the $$$ insurance. So needless to say the day before we were to leave I had no choice but to go ahead and purchase the $$$ insurance. Will never deal with an owner going through VRBO. RIPOFF!

Owner's Response: This guest appeared to be more upset with the policies of VRBO/Homeaway than our rustic cabin and our accommodations. While I can understand her concern these are practices by most all of the homeowners operating through VRBO. All of our guests agree to the costs associated with their reservation prior to booking.

Get away from everything but peace and quiet ...

  • 5 of 5

Quiet that is if you don't enjoy the sounds of a roaring river. We do! My family and I enjoyed our stay immensely. Beautiful spot overlooking the New River that was so relaxing. How could one not enjoy the hot tub while watching it snow? I would not hesitate to stay there again. Thanks again to the Kluttz's for their accommodations and attentiveness to our needs.

The listing does not do this cabin justice. It is so much better in person.

  • 5 of 5

In my opinion, The listing does not adequately represent the interior of the cabin, the exterior spaces or the surrounding property very well. Once we arrived we quickly realized we had stumbled upon a special place.

The exterior is muted and unassuming, while the landscape and view is quite beauitiful. Though the cabin is close to the road, the road is very rarely travelled. In 4 days I can recall maybe 6-8 vehicles passing by. The cabin is quite secluded, yet you can reach the tiny town of Lansing in about 15 minutes and the small town of west Jefferson with espresso cafes, brew houses, a lowes and a walmart in about 30 minutes. The hot tub is clean and fully operational. The creek is close enough to the back deck to fish off. And the creek is full of wild trout. Using dry fly, I caught several 7-14" rainbow and brook trout, twelve in total in a single day. Too bad it was catch and release season for wild trout, they would have been delicious grilled over a flame.

The interior is carefully curated and very comfortable. Gas fireplace, knick knacks on the walls, and country furniture are a nice touch. It was apparent that the entire cabin was cleaned just before our arrival and is maintained between visitors.

Management is prompt and responsive. All is highly recommended.

We will definitive return.
