Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much! Our stay was more than we could have ever hoped for! The views are amazing, the heaters work wonders, and the house/cabin is the perfect size for just two or the whole family.

We had the best honeymoon ever thanks to this place! We'll definitely want to come back soon!!

Thank You!!!

Loved this little cabin! Secluded, clean, comfy bed, and had everything I needed. No cable but internet worked great! Awesome! I would definitely stay here again!

Only negative it needs new beds. Extremely firm. King size would be nice.

New Years Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife, myself and ore dogs spent a week at the cabin over New Years. We loved it! It was quite and we did not see a soul except some roofers working on a cabin south of us. Because of our work we were looking for someplace to go to "get away from work" and this was the place! It was a 5 star to get a way from it all.

Absolutely perfect romantic setting

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a clean, well furnished, secluded place in the mountains for a couple to simply enjoy the beautiful scenery & wildlife, read by the fire, savor comfort food dinners with wine without the normal distractions of city life then Gabriel's chalet near Whispering Pines is ideal. A well behaved dog is usually a welcome companion too. The Arizona Trail trail head is only about a mile, or less, from the property with limitless miles of trails and there are several small towns within a 30-40 minute drive to explore the antique stores & bars, stock up on supplies or get a massage. There is Wifi to insure connectivity to reality and a Redbox movie is always an option between reading and the outdoor adventures. We have had opportunity to spend several long weekends at the Chalet and hope to again in the near future. Departure day is a sad one but you will leave relaxed with special memories of just being together and a renewed feeling of love and appreciation for each other. The only improvement over our experiences to date would be to spend several weeks.

Christy and Mike & of course, Dierks; the stud of all hikes and king dog who goes everywhere with us including the couple's massage room at the Rim Resort-true :)

Recent pre-Halloween October weekend at the chalet

  • 5 of 5

We have had the opportunity to spend long weekends in this very comfortable mountain chalet three times this year alone during three different seasons: winter, spring and most recently fall. Each stay has been amazing from many different views: remote and peaceful; tranquil evenings by the fire reading or watching a DVD; hiking adventures over many different trails (trail head to the Arizona Trail is within 1 mile of the chalet) and visits to Payson and surrounding smaller towns for supplies, dinner out, just exploring or massages. All you need to bring is your food, drinks and condiments; Gabriel has anticipated all other essential amenities including fully equipped kitchen, a commplementary bottle of wine and WiFi. Although a few fire starters are usually provided, I suggest bringing some of your own and leaving any unused for the next guest. The chalet and surrounding property has been extremely well maintained, clean and pristine.

We anticipate returning as often as we can get away to the mountains and have no desire to stay any place else.

Leave the city behind, and prepare for an abundance of nature. Come to the base of the Majestic Mogollon Rim. After a beautiful 25 minute drive from the city of Payson you will arrive at our chalet. Our cabin is very secluded and is backed up to National Forest. Hiking trails off the back property offer easy access for nature lovers such as ourselves. The Highline trail as well as beautiful Washington park are minutes from the cabin. You may however, not want to leave the cabin. Our chalet is cozy and romantic. We feel it's an ideal place for a couple to take a break from the stresses of life. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck while watching the many species of birds. Because of our proximity to the national forest we have no shortage of elk passing by. We invite you spend a few days in front of the Mogollon rim.
