About the property

'Wilderness' Feel' describes this 3 Bedroom, 1.5 Bath

Welcome to the beautiful Flathead Valley and Glacier Park regions. We know you will have a wonderful experience and create lasting memories when you visit this spectacular corner of the country. Our cabin is located on the Flathead River (the river is 30 feet from the front deck) and ideally located between Glacier National Park and Flathead Lake. We’re a short drive to Whitefish, Columbia Falls, downtown Kalispell, and a quick 10 minutes to Glacier Park International Airport. This cabin and surrounding property is the ideal location for a restful retreat and use as a home base for adventures and days of exploring.

The Cabin: The views from the cabin are simply stunning; guests love the sight of serene Flathead River, the majestic Columbia Mountain Range, and the ever present wildlife. You are guaranteed to see deer, eagles, turkeys, and the occasional bear. The entire east side of the cabin is windows - a sliding glass door leads to a beautiful deck for hosting outdoor dinners in the summer and year-round stargazing . An open kitchen, dining and living area is perfect for entertaining and gatherings with loved ones. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you will need to craft the perfect meal – cookware, small appliances, plating for 8, and much more. The comfortable living area is the ideal for getting cozy with a book, playing board games, or merely soaking in the view. A large master bedroom encompasses the loft with a king bed, a sitting area nook, and water closet. Two cozy bedrooms located on the main floor include queen beds. The main bathroom contains a corner shower and is stocked with plush towels and a hair dryer. A utility room, also on the main floor, contains a washer, dryer, ironing board, and iron. This lovely cabin was constructed in early 2014 therefore the amenities are fresh, new, and ready for you to use.

The Property: A one mile drive on a gravel road through the country will lead you to the cabin. The river boarders the east of the property, and we’ve kept the river side of our property open with a few tall trees for shade. Our property is kept natural and is not overly manicured – we love our connection with nature! The remainder of the property has a couple outbuildings for storage, and is covered with tall spruce and cottonwood trees. Guests are welcome to fish along certain sections of the riverbank or use property as a put in or take out location for river float and fishing trips. Our location is an unspoiled place to retreat and relax to after a fun day of exploring all the region has to offer.

Recreation: Nearby recreational opportunities are endless! Guests have close and easy access to hiking, skiing (all forms), fly fishing, sport fishing, mountain biking, cycling, rock climbing, sight-seeing, bird watching, boating, whitewater rafting, and the list goes on and on. The cabin is fully stocked with games, movies, and books. A fire pit for story-telling, marshmallow roasting and stargazing is available nearly year round. The river is wild, cold, and unpredictable therefore swimming is never encouraged or recommended.

About Glenda D. Brown

Robert and I have lived here on the Flathead River for 24 years in the A-frame built in the '70's. I grew up in the Valley, attending Evergreen Elementary till 8th grade, and Robert is a transplant from southern Idaho. We both attended FVCC, and he graduated valedictorian in the first class of land surveyors, and is still surveying here in the Valley after a 12 year hiatus in Alaska. My family has been here in the Valley since the 1920's, with each generation moving away (or being moved away!) and coming back, irresistibly drawn by the unforgettable loveliness of this Valley. I am excited to meet the people who want to experience our Valley and enjoy it's riches! You are welcome here.

Glenda D. Brown purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Glenda D. Brown chose Montana

We just finished building this Amish cabin 200 feet from our 'A Frame' home, to share the lovely serenity of this place with travelers. When we bought this property, the realtor kept saying, 'They don't make places like this any more...!' and he was right. This is a unique property for your complete rest and relaxation, combined with as much adventure as you want to pack into your time here! The owners nearby give you the opportunity for fast answers to questions about things to do, places to go, ... or complete privacy, as you choose!

What makes this cabin unique

'Wilderness' eight miles from two city centers is a huge benefit I enjoy about this property. I used to drive 45 miles into the 'Swan' to visit friends, and I have the same feel here, so close to town. Though one neighbor is in sight of this cabin, the Louisiana owners are seldom there, so, privacy combined with close proximity to all the attractions make this a special place. (Owner's property is 200 ft. away, screened by trees.)

Guestbook comments from the owner

It's easy to be kind to people who are so kind themselves! I enjoyed meeting all six of these folks, and was blessed by how they kept our cabin. Thanks for choosing Rainbow's End Vacation Cabin.

Relaxing Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully decorated home that offers warmth and a relaxing atmosphere. The hosts were available for questions and the property is well maintained. The cabin is close to town, yet secluded and "away from it all". Thank you to our hosts for making our stay comfortable and welcoming.

The property was beautiful in a park setting

  • 5 of 5

Our experience was phenomenal as there was snow and the perfect setting on the water. Saw many deer crossing the creek which we could see from the front window. My boys from Texas especially liked walking every night in the cold with headlamps on.

We will be back!!

Where do you live?

Stay here for the experience of a lifetime!

We stayed at Rainbow’s End during the last week of September and had a fantastic time!

Imagine how you will feel looking out from your bedroom window as you awaken every morning to see sunrise over the Swan Mountains and the Flathead River. The river is just steps from your back deck . If you’re an early riser, you might see deer crossing the river. If you’re a night owl, you can hear the coyotes howling in the distance and watch the Milky Way rise above the mountains after the sun sets. The night sky is dark enough you can pick out other galaxies with the naked eye if you know where to look for them. Better yet, use the binoculars the hosts provided to see views like no other of the North American night sky.

The cabin is very well equipped, comfortable, and organized. The amenities are first class! The cabin owner’s are available and very helpful to guide you with their local knowledge about anything you are interested in. It’s near town and many conveniences without being in-town. The cabin is tucked away in a quiet area that allows you to hear the sound of the river running if you just want to sit and absorb nature’s beauty. If you want to get out and about, Glacier National Park is a short ride away where you can explore millions of acres. If you want the fun of a small town, you can ride up to Whitefish or really get away and go up to Pole Bridge.

If getting out on the water is your thing, all thirty miles of the Flathead Lake is nearby for all the boating you can handle. No matter what you choose to do in the Kalispell – Glacier area, be sure to stay at Rainbow’s End. You will have a phenomenal time!

Beautifully maintained property with a fabulous view of the Flathead River and mountain ranges.

  • 5 of 5

The property was extremely well maintained, tastefully decorated and appointed with all the amenities one would require. Glenda, the property owner, was delightful and we all fell in love with her dog Jake. We all wanted to take him home! I would without hesitation recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful "home away from home" while exploring the Flathead River Valley and Glacier NP.

  • 5 of 5

We three retired couples comfortably used Rainbow's End as our "home base" while exploring the area. We hiked in Glacier National Park and the Jewell Basin Hiking Area, attended a symphony concert in Whitefish, enjoyed coffee and pastry at the Polebridge Mercantile, and fished the various forks of the Flathead River. The accommodations at Rainbow's End were wonderful: clean and well maintained, nicely equipped and decorated, comfortable beds, and an outstanding view off the back deck of the Flathead River. The owner was very attentive to our needs and quite helpful. We had a very pleasant experience and highly recommend this VRBO property.

The BEST vacation home we have ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about this vacation cabin...it was PERFECT for our family of 5 (ages 6, 9, 14)!! The house is very clean and has everything you need for your stay, including a grill with propane and even bear spray to borrow (in the laundry cabinet). With three kids and a gorgeous river out your back door, the washer and dryer came in very handy with dealing with wet and dirty clothes. I was initially worried about the house being too far from Glacier National Park to really enjoy the park as much as we wanted to. However, it was no problem at all. It took 30 minutes to get to West Glacier and about 1.5 hours to get to Logan's Pass (middle of the Going to the Sun road). The scenery is so beautiful and there are so many places to stop and either hike or take pictures that the drive never bothered the kids at all. We hiked in the park every other day and the days we were in Kalispell, we spent it tubing down the river out the back door, relaxing and grilling out, canoeing, exploring the nearby towns, etc.

However, what really made our trip extra special was the owners of the cabin...Glenda and Robert, who live next door. My husband and I must have said 5-6 times during our stay, "those people are so darn nice and kind". Robert taught my kids how to shoot a bow and arrow, took my little one of a jet ski ride, let us borrow his kayak and canoe, etc. Glenda left surprises for my younger kids on the porch in the morning (bubbles, Frisbees, etc.), checked in with us frequently to see if we needed anything, invited us over for dinner, and was a wonderful host. They made us feel so welcomed. (They were also great resources for the area since they have lived there for so long.)

And I saved the best for last...the stars of the show...their dogs, Sammy (small, cute little thing) and Jake (black lab). My 6 year old daughter spent hours bossing those sweet sweet dogs around and throwing the Frisbee and tennis ball to them. They made her vacation!!

We spent 8 nights at the cabin and wished we didn't have to leave. My husband gave the ultimate compliment when he said, "We are going to have to break our number one rule about never vacationing at the same place twice and come back to this place." It truly is a little slice of heaven.

To find our property, if you have GPS, put in either Kalispell or Columbia Falls, MT - (you might want to get groceries at the Super One on Hwy 2).

About 6 miles, you'll come to Glacier Park International Airport, cont. south through the stop light to the next stop light on Birch Grove by Jagzs Restaurant and Cowgirl Coffee. Turn EAST go to 1/2 mile to the next road to the SOUTH (not marked, but it is Helena Flats). Go 1.5 miles to intersection and turn EAST onto Eid Ln. Go 1/4 mile to end of pavement, turn SOUTH onto Goodrich Rd. (gravel). The sign is faded, but it is there on the corner by 9-10 mail boxes. You'll go 1/4 mile then the road turns to the left for another 1/2 mile to a blind corner. There is a mirror by the birch tree, with red ribbons and gold bells hanging by it - check the mirror then proceed around the corner slowly - it may be icy. Cross the bridge and go 1/4 mile to another 't' with brick and iron fence, with wreaths hung on it - turn LEFT and pass one house on the right. Take the NEXT driveway to the RIGHT - there is an arrow on a fish on the tree pointing to the Rainbow's End!

So many choices! Because our cabin is centrally located, I took the liberty of expanding the '15 minutes from....' to 'within 30 minutes of....' in all directions! Experience memorable white water rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River with a gourmet dinner served on a gravel bar. Try your hand at horseback riding along mountain trails, or on a chuck wagon with dinner served. Plan to be here in August for the County Fair, with livestock, home grown and canned goodies, and rodeo every evening. See who can ride the bulls the full 8 seconds!

If water sports are your joy, try the water bumper cars in Coram, or the water slides in Columbia Falls. Mountain bike riding on Whitefish Mountain is a challenge, with many more miles of trails scattered throughout the Valley. Whitefish Mountain also has thrilling zip lines to enjoy. Challenge yourself to ride with the front pack of bikers to finish the 100 mile Huckleberry 100 and finish in roughly 5 hours!

For something unexpected so far north, tour the micro-breweries, find the whiskey and vodka distilleries, and sip wine at a winery south of Lakeside along Flathead Lake.

Matchless majestic scenery is available to those who choose to hike Glacier Park trails, or hire horses to ride into the wilderness areas nearby. There is no end to the outdoor activities available to the adventurous.
